still seems so hard for me... giving up...
*
getting your phone rooted is already the hardest part of the whole process,
and its not even that difficult to begin with,
just get the drivers and stuff all readied, plug in your phone, run the application, DONE
and once you get passed this, everything becomes easy, really...

hey guys wanna ask what if the difference between the backup from Titanium Backup and Rom Manager's backup option?

I sort of understand that the backup option in ROM manager is actually a Nandroid backup that backs up the entire ROM, am I right? But does this backup include the apps and smses and stuff? I've made a backup using ROM Manager and it's about 800MB big.

Rooted my Desire Z and trying out to figure out the best way to make a backup before flashing a custom ROM.
*
Nandroid backup backup the whole ROM like you said into one zip file,
its for restoring to your previous ROM
just in case if anything bad happens,
or you just don't like the new ROM decided to revert it back to the old ROM,
it makes things easy.

Titanium Backup is for backing up the apps you installed,
the apps itself and the apps data.
e.g your game progress,
if you don't use Titanium Backup to back up the data,
you'll have to start all over again once you reinstalled in the new ROM

if you want to backup messages, you need MyBackup Pro

ya.... probably the hardest part to do it...  rclxub.gif  nvm maybe next time when i really boring with my stock desire

even thou now i already boring with it ( only use it to browse web, makes call and send sms)
*
its your choice happy.gif

but then if you don't do it now,
you'll have to do it one day anyway

well, if you still have warranty for your phone,
I guess there's a reason for you to stick with the stock Sense Froyo

i still have at least 20 month of warranty...  doh.gif
*
actually you can just unroot it back when you're going to claim for warranty.laugh.gif
so its not really a good reason either..
but keeping the stock ROM does makes things safe la,
just in case if the phone really dies off and there's no way for you to even unroot it,
I rooted my phone on day one LOL, didn't really cared about the warranty tongue.gif

later which rom shud i use...

do i need update my radio?
*
its better for you to update your radio to the latest

as for ROM, try LeeDroid 2.3b for starters, or AuraxTSense 8.2,
both these ROM are the closest to the stock ROM

Yes, xproc. You need to have 2 partitions on your SD. First a FAT32 and second is the ext2/3/4. Recommended to have it 1024MB cos most of the newer ROMs. You can do that on your PC also easier. Like bro phantomash recommends, I would also recommend the LeeDroid to start with.

@phantomash - how is your Gingerbread doing? The battery performance really astound me with the v2-R2.
*
yup, really liking the battery life

but still, feel like something is missing compared to Sense based ROM,

now already flashed to ReflexTSenseHD 1.5.1 tongue.gif

Quick System Info

QUOTE(wkyoong @ Dec 26 2010, 02:28 AM)
Ok that's it. I'm done with ReflexTSense for now. I don't think there were any running apps and battery life seems to be fine for daily use. Its just that when I leave it idle over the night when I go to sleep, the battery discharges to zero. Then the 1.5.1 update was released, I applied the update and everything seemed fine but once again when I went to bed, the my Desire froze at the home screen (which explains why my alarm did not wake me up  vmad.gif ). Really weird and I'm not sure what's the reason. So its Christmas day and another day for another ROM. I booted in a copy of LeeDroid 2.3b and its awesome!!!!

Things seem to be very smooth. I installed adw launcher ex as well and its DABOMB>>>>>>> Tons of possibilities to customize the home desktop UI and transitions are silky smooth  tongue.gif

Praying hard that LeeDroid does justice to my Desire. And Merry Christmas everyone  wink.gif
*
lol, your comment made me went to check out ADW Launcher EX
damn its quite amazing!
gonna try that Leedroid + ADW combination soon laugh.gif

thanks... should i update my radio to newest version... or do the titanium backup 1st...

should i do 'restore missing apps with data' or 'restore missing apps +all system data"
*
back up user apps only,

restoring system apps + data might causes FC in some ROM

as for the radio, flash the radio after flashing the new ROM

Hi guys~ can I know hoes the battery life of ya'll goin?? my wan running on MIUI 0.12.24.. Drain quite fast..12 hours of completely drain wiith light to moderate usage..
*
that's quite bad..
but that depends on what your "light to moderate" usage is
mine can easily last through the day with smses, few calls, roughly 1~2 hours gaming, few hours of wifi internet surfing hmm.gif

QUOTE(kokifung @ Dec 28 2010, 11:08 PM)
please help me..

how to re partition again from 512mb to 1gb in my current sd card?? icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif
rooted desire..
*
just partition your SD card again in recovery,
do backup your stuff in SD card first though,
because partitioning SD card will reformat the card

QUOTE(xproc @ Dec 28 2010, 11:15 PM)
anyone tried Dungeon Defenders
*
tried it for 2 days, its barely playable at start,
but once huge wave of enemy coming in,
it will start lagging to the point that it becomes unplayable
since this game is actually developed based on the Tegra 2 processor, dual core 1Ghz

windows doesn't prompt you to fix when you plug in the memory card?
I've kind of experienced this before and it became fine after the prompt for fix from windows.

maybe try reformatting the SD card?

no specific kernel, just whichever that is used by the ROM that I've flashed, and with the latest radio 32.49

did you tried doing battery calibration?

is your phone rooted?
maybe try installing juice defender and setcpu (to set profile for your CPU), it might help
