I wanted to change my sd card to a new 1. Now I just realize there is a serious/major technical problem. How do I backup those contents in the EXT2/3 partition of the SD card ?

I am using windows platform, windows cant detect EXT2/3 format. Anyone can help ? I need to backup everything onto my pc then to the new SD card.

icon_question.gif icon_question.gif Mayday mayday....
*
1) Nandroid
2) Remove the old card
3) Create ext partition on new card
4) Full wipe!
5) Restore Nandroid

Worked for me awhile back.

QUOTE(phgmail @ Jan 5 2011, 09:27 PM)
what is d advantage of custom mtd partition?
from what i read, it enable us to modify d partition? is it right?
even though i myself didnt have any idea what i'm talking about  rclxub.gif
i tried to play with partition table in alpharev site.
what d best table for sense rom?
*
Use the stock table(meaning no need to do anything) if you use sense rom. only use other partition if you use an AOSP rom. and remember, you cant install sense once you use other partition so you need to revert to the stock if you want to back at sense again.

Advantage? more space, and i love it cuz i dont like pushing my sd card with a2sd+ too much. prefer use all in internal memory all the way.

i'm on oxygen r5 now and using oxygen table.is it ok?or any better table?
is there any way to change the table without using adb? cause i read in earlier post that one of advantage of s-off is no cable biggrin.gif
*
Using the oxygen table while using oxygen rom is recommended, if you dont change to other roms too often, so you are good to go. Today i flashed the hboot 5 times lol~~ Oxygen > n1table > data++ > n1table > oxygen just cuz i want to try CM7.

be careful and always check the md5 sum when flashing these hboot as you'll brick your Desire if the file is corrupted.

You can use the PB99IMG file from the alpharev site, rename it as instructed, put it on the sd card root and boot into hboot mode(not fastboot). I tried it but got some error so i didnt manage to get it working. Since this is a bit risky, i dont take my chance. flashing radio and hboot are critical and has the most risk, so i dont recommend doing without adb/fastboot, though the options are there.

QUOTE(CrossX @ Jan 5 2011, 10:30 PM)
hey guys, honesly i'm not a user of desire but i'm using a desire HD

I have a question here for u guys hope u dont mind spending a few minutes answering my doubts...

I'm new to HTC phones, and i have been using galaxy S previously where rooting and custom rom flashing is very simple, but now since i board the HTC boat, i see that its a lot different, and from wat i read from xda-developers, there this S-OFF and S-ON thing for root.

My question is, if a desire is not rooted, is it possible to enter recovery mode? how is it done? Because i accidentally entered recovery mode or the bootloader (i'm not sure) on my friend's desire. Just wanted to clarify.

Sorry for the annoyance and thanks for those who is willing to help me
*
I left the un-rooted world the 2nd day i got my Desire so i dont quite remember but I'm sure its the bootloader you are entering. once you are rooted then you'll be able to access recovery. If i recall lah.

To enter bootloader you simply hold Vol Down button + Power button while the phone is turned off.

Nope...you don't need to root in order to enter HBoot.
Just press Back + Power, you will enter the HBoot.
But without rooting there is no recovery choice.
Just Fast Boot, Clear Data & Restart.

Added on January 5, 2011, 10:48 pmOh...I root on the 1st day I got my Desire.
With exprience from previous Wildfire.
*
thats what i said. it seems he has entered the bootloader not recovery. Desire is my first smartphone and first android and i root it on the 2nd day so i think not bad...huhu~~

and holding Back + Power would give you fastboot mode, not hboot mode.

@Cross - no prob! rclxm9.gif

CM Tough is easy, this would be the 'best' case scenario in most casing stores (for htc desire that is lolz)

otterbox would be different story. Have to order online. o_o

Idk but I don't see otterbox offers a lot here (for desire).
hmm.gif

If you've seen the otterbox casings I would say they are overkill la. Unless you are sticking to this phone for a year or so and you work in a place where dust flies into your pockets Lol.

Not everyone would like Case mate Tough though.
*
the tough one looks almost like my torque. i dont like the big style. i prefer CM BT. best for me!

mtd and hboot from alpharev are same build for same reason. diff, alpharev hboot will be permanent. mtd modified will be lost when you wipe.

actually all rom are base on cyanogen. so i just stick with pioneer.  biggrin.gif

Oxygen is not based on CM. its fully started from scratch of AOSP.

QUOTE(bomberman @ Jan 6 2011, 04:25 PM)
guys,

no doubt our desire is one of the Power Android Phone, but this budget LG Optimus One (selling at RM899 only~~) seems like perform as good as our Desire with the benchmark (quadrant) with score of 1285 (please see this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870640) where my desire (with DHD rom - ReflexTsense ROM) only score 1385.

seems like our desire only wins this Optimus one at few things: 3.7" Amoled / SLCD display, Bigger ROM size (this can be eliminate with the A2sd+, so basically is not a issue for LG) for application.

advantage of LG Optimus One vs Desire: do not have heating problem as our Desire, cheaper price (almost more than 50%), bluetooth 3.0 (desire 2.1), wireless b/g/n (desire - b/g), longer batt life.

what's ur guys opinion???
*
LG has never been a user friendly type when it comes to mobile phones. in my experience of course.

Here is what i do to play around with new roms for a few days.

1) Backup SMS, call logs, APN list and Apps(use Titanium Backup)
1) Nandroid backup
2) Wipe data/cache/everything except SD card!
3) Flash new rom(or flash custom hboot if i felt like it or if its necessary)
4) Boot, and flash any additional stuffs i want(themes, fonts, system apps, modded keyboard)
5) Restore SMS, call logs, APN list and Apps(I paid for TB so restoring made easy)
6) Voila!

P.S yesterday i play around with 5 roms doing all this 6 steps for each! then do the assignment. hoho~~

Her papago didn't work even i flashed different rom, and she installed GPS test also didn't show anything. is there any way to test GPS?
*
is she moving while locking the gps? cuz gps wont lock if you're moving or inside a building(certain conditions apply, like different rom, different radio that have some kernel tweaks or such, so some rom detects gps inside building). I tried gps inside my room but no go, when i go outside even a bit and wait for 2 minutes, it locks on. and sometimes after first time flashing a rom, its kinda longer to lock, but then after that it locks as usual. i usually got it locked one once i'm in the car, while panaskn enjin. hoho~~

class for SD card from 6 - 10 has no significant diffence. if you have class 4 is enough edy. I'm still using 16GB class 2 and gallery 3d works fine, and fast!

i have 8GB class 10 but i didnt use it.
