you want to know why? cyanogen is the longest rom available since ( i dont remember which phone, so search for wiki) before Nexus One. cyanogen is a great developer, and have make the AOSP stock rom a much better experience for users. if you try the stock AOSP(try adamg's oxygen for example or build your own AOSP rom from google source), and then try cyanogen. so many things is added/improved. Plus the community is the best, support and helps are all there for you, across many phones model.

Most AOSP rom's features are based on Cyanogen, except MIUI(kali- said that to me). so its up to you. i ditched MIUI cuz of iphone like interface eventhough you can use different launcher. But still the settings and such are identical to iphone.

Even oxygen is based from CM, just cuz adam said it isnt. It is. see some of the features, adam slowly implement the CM, for example the notification bar widget control. thats the fact, adam just wont admit it.

yeah kan, i was about to go back to MIUI last week, cuz i need camcorder for everyday use. So GB is a no for me unless i'm home for holidays.

if need to use froyo other than CM, it has to be something different.

tyja - you dont try building for yourself? am setting up the building environment tonight. hopefully can build my own CM7 tonight too if the setting up doesnt take too long. woohoo!!

hoho just wish me luck with compiling my own. Hope can be in the cm team too in the future. want to learn on how to make a patch, and learning kernels with kali too(he's a senior linux admin) so yeah i got myself a good tutor.

Added on January 16, 2011, 3:57 ami still think Android will achieve greatness even without Sense. but yeah it was all about preferences, who said you should follow what i said? i was being sarcastic up there.

I want N1 but it wasnt in my budget to buy without contract so i have to choose the maxis plan. i never know bout Sense when i bought Desire. All i know is Android, and its open! but dang it got stucked in sense, when the maxis seller turn the phone on in front of me. Lucky there are AOSP's!

Sense's dialer and widgets are handy, the interface are nice, but when you explore the inner side of it, its bloated. it can be better. i wish i could have the sense dialer on AOSP, but widgets, can be replaced by others.

you mean the first screen? thats ok, since thats the splash screen. after that you should see the shiny stylish cyanogen logo right? then you are good. Welcome to CM!

where are you again? when booting the phone? or recovery? where does the error appear?

hmm you didnt try booting normally? why'd you go to recovery?

hoho cant just share straight away. Need to test first thoroughly myself first. its personal rom anyway so dont want to be the blame if something goes wrong.

thought you were booting already. have you wipe everything?

check the md5 of your file and see if it matches. if not then you have a bad zip.

hmmm seeing that you're still new to flashing, you wont happen to be s-off and using a custom hboot right? but that doesnt matter though..haha!!!

oh and btw, what recovery you use? you have a pvt4 desire i suppose? if Amon-ra recovery shouldnt be a problem. If clockworkmod recovery, what version you use? as far as i know, the 2.5.1.3 and above should be working with pvt4 desire.

it is reported that 2.5.0.7 wont work with your device. try updating to later version. Search for clockworkmod recovery in xda.

but dont update to 3.0.0.5, update to 2.5.1.3.

md5 is a checksum to check the file integrity to see if your file matched the original file.

I'm sure its not the corruption, it should be your recovery.

i'm sure its the recovery problem. Need to use the later recovery. the current one you use doesnt support yours.
