All due respect. brp I didn't say Nvidia is better than ATI or whatever things similar to that.
This is the thing that I said.
Nvidia vs ATI and the HTC vs Iphone thingy were just an example of your style of posting, by conveniently quoting ONE youtube source and then CONCLUDING that A is better than B. That's your STYLE of posting. We don't tolerate anything like that here and also LEARN to read my post carefully smile.gif

QUOTE
It's not like Iphone is better than HTC or Mercides is better than BMW.

It's like bowl is better to when you use it to eat soup and plate on the other hand for dry food.
Walaweee....
it's like if you want to go for speed choose ferari over BMW, else if you want confort go for BMW.
doh.gif  doh.gif  doh.gif
First and foremost, what's with the bowl and plate analogy? Such a weak back up claim smile.gif

Again, you DARE conclude that Nikon is BETTER than Canon in photography just by quoting a youtube source, reviewed by Kai Wong? How convinient is that.. smile.gif If it's so easy to make such CONCLUSIONS, then there will be no more brand wars, no more headaches in choosing either Canon or Nikon, because u can QUOTE a youtube source and use it to your advantage smile.gif

And not again, you don't really read well do you? I CLEARLY mentioned, there's no fair comparison really between a Full Frame DSLR against a APS-H DSLR. The Nikon D3s is FF camera while the 1D Mk 4 is a APS-H camera, D3s has 12mp while the 1D4 has 16mp, so this comparison isn't really fair don't you think?

It's the same like you don't compare ISO performance between a Nikon D700 against a nice 550D. Obviously the former, will pawn it kao kao

And are you now going to call me a fanboy again? READ my posts properly and carefully, neither did i make such BLATANT conclusions which you like to do, and neither did i mention "this is better than that" thingy.

QUOTE
anyway this thread suppose give a member a bigger view of camera and photography, therefore I am listing all the option he/she possibly take in the future. I don't know what is your problem with my post and whatsoever.
but if you find a problem in my post please not to make mess in the thread itself.  icon_rolleyes.gif
Oh great, bigger view of camera and photography? Yout style of posting doesn't show that at all, you quote one source and conclude that "Nikon is better than Canon in Photography" <------- Does this look like "Bigger view" to you. It's SHALLOW for your information.

You're the FIRST person i've seen here, in fact the last 2 recommendations thread, who POSTS in such a way.

You have many flaws in your posts here and there, you're making baseless conclusions all the way, and yes this is NOT the way things go around here.

And yes, i'm not going to discuss this further and i hope this will be the last of your STYLE of postings smile.gif And yes, such posts will be REPORTED if you continue to do so agan biggrin.gif

This is a recommendation thread lol. Not a brand war thread. We do not need another thread to brand war. There's plenty already.

Just recommend what you think is accurate, but do not make blatant conclusions. Just ignore what he post or just correct his facts without the need to make such a mess.

Let the discussion continue, shall we?
*
I was just correcting the way he's posting, the stuff he's spewing around, the things he's misleading others. And no, there's wasn't any Brand war at all. It's just me correcting him smile.gif

And yes, discussions should continue. Nikon vs Canon will always continue, that's why most of us here would recommend them a few models in mind and ask them to test it out in the shops. At the end of the day, most likely it's what feels/works best for them , is what they're going to bring home.Hence, the recommendations on what's good and whatnot smile.gif

Anyway, not going to pursue this anymore, and sorry for making it look like a mess sad.gif

Any specific models in mind? : 60D with 18-200 kit lens | D7000 18-105 kit lens

I wanted to know which should i go for? Video is not a requirement for me. The situation is cuz the 60D with the 18-200 kt lens cost around 4.6k and the D7000 but with a shorter lens is also the same price....

I'm trouble on which one should i get? or i should just buy D90 with kit lens and don't waste the money?

Both are great cameras, but why the need for a 18-200? You can use that money to get better lenses smile.gif

Handshake or not, depends on the settings you're shooting at. If you know your stuff, then you'll surely know how to counter "blur" pictures. You'll know once you start learning about your tools when you get them smile.gif

QUOTE
after photo taken still need to edit?

Edit or not, is entirely up to you.

But la, editing pictures is a fundamental process, to producing much better image quality. The camera doesn't know what type of colours you would want, so it just captures the scene according to what it is assigned to do, so it's up to you the "artist" to paint the picture smile.gif

I bet you've seen a "before and after" for unedited ---------> edited brows.gif

A DSLR will give you really nice pictures only if you are willing to learn how to use it and will not depend on auto mode. But if you're not ready to take up the extra "responsibility", then a powershot would suit you best (powershot 1000HS, S95 or even the more advanced G12). It can serve as a learning platform (these models have manual mode which is similar to what a DSLR can offer) which might change your mind in the future when you're ready to go for DSLR.

You can get either a Nikon D3000 or a Canon 1000D for around RM1.5k smile.gif

Performance wise, I'm guessing they're pretty much similar.Do try it out at shops to see which you like best.

Oh btw, if you're getting the Nikon and probably another lens, do bear in mind that the D3000 can only pair up with AF-S lenses to be able to Auto Focus smile.gif

pentax is no good??

Ahh.. very poisonous indeed.

I'm guessing you would need a 20mm f/1.7 pancake lens at least, to get such effects. The standard zoom 14-42mm I believe might not have that much of a shallow DOF.

The GF1 has a pretty quick AF from what I read, so I would expect the GF2 to have similar performance if not faster smile.gif

Controls and button layout for both GF2 and NEX5 are pretty different. One is I guess designed for the those upgrading from the regular PnS while the other are rather for more "serious" shooters as there are more dedicated buttons and better "usablility". Do try them out, they're really different. Pick the one which you find nice handling. Good Luck

actually i'm more on photographing. may i know which one better?
btw whats the difference 500d and 550d except the megapixel...and should i take lens? blink.gif
*
For the 500/550D,there are various kit lenses that come together like 18-55 or 18-135 or even 18-200.

550D has some neat features over the 550D like the

1)18mp sensor
2)iFCL metering system
3)Auto ISO up to ISO6400 iinm
4)Faster burst rate
5)3:2 ratio LCD screen with a better resolution(1040k colours iinm)
6)SDXC memory cards compatible
7)ISO range now expandable to ISO12800, and ISO6400 is no longer in expanded mode
8)etc

The 550D is indeed the successor of the 500D. So it's better in almost every department. Just like an iphone 4 is better than a 3GS smile.gif

If you're into Canon, then the 550D is quite a good deal. I'm using one, and I find it pretty good for my needs.

Of course, there are other offerings from other brands as well, notably Nikon and Sony. Put in Nikon D3100 and Sony A55/A580 into your consideration list as well. Heard good stuff about them smile.gif You can shortlist a few models in mind, or perhaps some of our recommendations, and maybe try all of em' at your local shop. Especially if you're a DSLR newbie, I'd suggest to take the most practical approach, that is to choose which you like handling best, rather than looking purely at specifications which might confuse you even further. Good luck smile.gif

Hello. I'm a total newbie in DSLR. I've decided to buy Canon 550d, but as i'm still a beginner, so some people suggested me to buy a secondhand camera with kit lens, due to it's cheaper price and also longer warranty (3years). As you all know, price of a secondhand camera compared to a brand new one, the difference is merely just few hundreds. Here now, I'm seeking advices on which camera should i buy.

1) Brand new set with kit lens - Rm2880
2) New body with secondhand lens - Rm2300 + Rm300
3) Used camera set found in forum- ~Rm2600 ( but with 3 years warranty)

All three options are within my budget, but of course cheaper is better.
*
I'd get option 2 anytime, because a brand new body for me is so important since I'm going to use it for like 2-3 years time down the road, so I wouldn't want it to be in a used condition smile.gif

Getting the body only is not much of a problem, but sourcing out for the 18-55 lens could be a real hassle. I took around 1 month to actually get mine through Garage Sales here, pretty sweet deal 1 month old-almost never used for a mere RM300, also with 2 years 11 months warranty left drool.gif So yeah, if you have the patience, so why not? No big deal if you're only getting a 2nd hand 18-55 kit lens, who uses it for like 2-3 years? I see mostly after 1 year already "upgrade" already hahaha

This is coming from a DSLR that don't even have AF motor built in and saying Sony's DSLR sucks? Clearly fanboyism right?

Comparing D3100 and A33 at both range, A33 is slightly more superior than D3100 in few aspects.

Anyway, I don't believe in brands. If you can take awesome picture on Nikon, so can you with Canon and Sony. Camera is just a tool for the person.
