Really? will look into it. D300s is for semi pro right? It will cost more correct? D7000 been recommend by some people now. Surely im gonna check it out,
*
Yeahh by buying D300s you will get full magnesium alloy body where usually comes only in pro bro.
however in term of performance D7000 pawns D300s. it's like 2010 vs 2008 technology.
D7000 is losing in term of
body built <- it doesn't come with full magnesium alloy body only partial.
focus point <- D300s has 50-something where D7k 30-something
however those 30-something might perform better due to latest technology.

other than that D7000 beats D300s

Of course will have to follow the sifus to weddings first to learn the trade  notworthy.gif

else you can get 550D + tamron 17-50 + 50mm 1.8 + nissin di622 for wedding. it's actually depends on your willing either you want to allocate most of your money on body or lens.
pretty hard decision

Hi there,  biggrin.gif
Type of camera/lens/accesories : DSLR

Budget: RM 3-4 k with lens

Your Location: MLK

Preferable brand : Either Nikon or Canon

Type of photography u want to do :  A little of everything, want to learn... Future upgrade of lenses is possible, so wanted to buy mid-level DSLR instead of beginner body

Any specific models in mind? : Nikon D90 or Canon 60D

Any specific features u want? :  Not really.....

Hope sifu can enlighten me.... cuz the pricing for D90 (18-105mm) and 60D (18-55mm) almost similar, RM3400 vs RM 3300
*
go for 60D. d90 is old model the ISO performance is not so good compared to nowadays model.

Is it good to start my first DSLR with 550D(body)+ 50mm f1.8 lens
then later invest get a 55~250mm Lens?
*
50mm is for portrait so if you are a big fan of portrait that should be fine.

does the kit lens (f/3.5) good enough to take indoor (low light condition)/ night scene/night sky photo?

with 2k money you can't get 550D if I am not mistaken.
get D3100. if with 2k 550D is affordable get it.

with RM3K can get 550D body+ 18-200mm zoom lens? think to get a ALLaround Lens instead of kit lens..
*
18-200 is not as good as 18-55 in term of IQ.
1.8 is not good enough. believe me you will understand in one point you need flash. tongue.gif
buy for the time being 18-55 + 50mm 1.8 will be a good combo

the body has an AF motor it enough justification for me to decide 550D over D3100.. yet you have to reconsider the branding which you surrounding are using. Plus forget about mega pixel thingy. it doesn't work like Pns

Hi,

Need opinion here:

Type of camera/lens/accesories : looking for -->Wide angle lens
Budget : RM3000
Your Location : KL
Preferable brand : Nikon
Type of photography u want to do : Landscape, Macro, Random shots, hobby
Any specific models in mind? :
    1. AF-S DX NIKKOR 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED
    2. AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR (5.3x)
    3. Sigma AF 10-20mm 4.0-5.6 EX DC

Question:
1. can Sigma AF 10-20mm 4.0-5.6 EX DC  work with Nikon D5000?

2. if Sigma AF 10-20mm 4.0-5.6 EX DC work with Nikon D5000, is this Sigma brand's performance able to catch up with Nikkor wide angle lens ?

3. Compare with AF-S DX NIKKOR 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED & AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR (5.3x) , both have different price, different specification n different performance, which is will you recommend for a beginner user?

4. Can wide angle lens that listed above can use for macro shooting?

Thanks!
*
1. it will work. it will auto focus (I used some1 sigma 10-20 and auto focusing with mine D3100 meaning working fine with yours).
2. No. Nikkor Wide angle pawn sigma in wide angle. however for the price I suggest you to get Tokina instead (Tokina 12-24 Version II will auto focus with your D5000). the performance is very good (of couse we are talking about DX sensor).
3. What is your intention? do you want all rounder lens or wide angle lens? because they two serve differently
4. I have no idea about macro shooting. but I guess should not be a problem.

--> i am looking for wide-angle lens, but not sure which is easy to use and deliver the better picture if taking the same landscape, does anyone compare this way before? hmm.gif

nothing is easier than the other it's a matter of your shooting style.
what is your preference of shooting.? know what type of lens you want before you ask people. because it might lead you to misleading. nod.gif

what is your preference of shooting.? --> had stated in previous post--> landscape, macro (up close)....

know what type of lens you want before you ask people--> also stated in previous post --> wide-angle lens

I wonder is my information not enough or you do not know how to answer? sorry, i have no mind to offence, but hope to get useful information

if you want to get wide angle lens tokina 12-24 is there.
I am asking it again because you seems blur since you asking two different type of lenses 1 is UWA and another one all rounder.

if you know what do you want get it. UWA is there for you smile.gif

by looking at your post it's clear that you don't know what do you want. well that's maybe my interception only. good if you have some1 to experience to help you decide.

Why I am asking you that?
it's because
AF-S DX NIKKOR 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED
and
AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR
serve differently.

I can't help you decide nor lowyat forumers here, because it depends on your shooting preference.

it's a matter of purpose kit lens for all around simple enough to learn. however 50mm 1.8 is for portraiture. only you know most what do you want.

all Nikon D3xxx and D5xxx ( and older bodies like D40, D60, D50 and so on) do not have screw drive motor (aka built in focus motor) to drive the autofocus on AF-D lenses. See more bodies at http://www.mylensdb.com/sitemap/#body-nikon

Personally, Ill get the one with screw drive motor loh given that I choose Nikon's way lah. If you intend to get 50mm prime cheap, but then you lose focusing ability with those bodies... then...  shakehead.gif Or you can scout for other systems.  icon_rolleyes.gif

a little bit correction D50 come with screw drive motor.

as I used both. I can say it is a matter of feeling only.
D7k is actually solid in the hand but again D300s is more sturdy.
the shutter sound also different tongue.gif
D300s is more killer.
