How about apply for other company or job? Downgrade to apply work permit?

Work at audit firm hard to apply EP as well?

What is the main reason of SG govt reject apply EP?
*
as you can see, our friend b4stard also got his EP rejected. SP and also WP also can't get. i believe its because election coming.

Depending on which booth, Sandisk class 4 was $100-106. Kingston and Transcend class 4 was $86-95.

Ipad2 just recently announced in US so logically singapore wont get it so soon, wait around 3-4 months down the road for it to appear.
Apple had a booth there, I thought they would at least have a display unit.
*
i think u are referring to Epicenter rite? Apple don't usually have a booth in those fairs.... only their reseller does.

wanna ask those with experience,

if i bring in one new laptop from msia (in box), will the singapore kastam stop us? hand carry in via bus.
*
to save the trouble, get someone to drive it in for you. when u are driving or riding in, the kastam check is just a procedure thing, they just look look and let u pass normally.

PS : especially when u are driving a Malaysian car. coz in their mindset, they always things that those that can drive Malaysian car in are normally tourist or people that stays in Malaysia, why would they pay more money to buy stuff in Singapore. even when you bring something in, they would assume that its a used thing that u will bring out later because ur car needs to leave the country on a daily basis.

hi, got a problem here , would need some advice ~

plan to travel daily to Sg, and already found a room in Johor.

However , the problem i facing now is that I just started to go for the driving lesson. So, even until the day i need to drive motor into Sg, i only have the L license.

So, it is possible to go into Sg with motor L license?
*
depends and there is no written rule stated in LTA or Singapore police forces that says can or cannot, but they don't check ur license when u ride in. unless you really so "sui" they go check you. i have been riding for close to 5 months now. never even once i see those people ask if you have a license unless you are registering for the BIKES service.

Hi. I plan to work in SG and plan to find one room in Johor. How much is the rental for one room in johor??Would you mind to tell me? Thanks.
*
depends on the location you are looking for. normally those rooms around Kastam are expensive. around RM350 (small room) to RM700 (master room). I rent a whole unit low cost flat for only RM300. but its further away from town lo. around 16KM to Kastam. I heard that my area can get terrace house for RM450 only. but what's the point of renting a big house if only staying alone biggrin.gif

if include trip in Singapore, its around 75KM a day. 2 days pump 1 tank RM11. if no traffic jam (during CNY), can reach office in 30 mins. not really that far.

dun really know what is BIKES service  tongue.gif  mind to explain more ?

but i think my case is very obvious to the officer, cause L license holder will require to put one big L sign at the front of our bike .... thats what i know , anyone to clarify ??  hmm.gif
*
BIKES = Biometric Identification for Bikers.

means we need to go to the ICA office, show them our Autopass, workpermit, driving license and passport. then they will help us enter our details in their system. once they done that, we can just scan our passport on the designated BIKES lane (which is normally reserve for PR and SC). so it will be faster if we go through that lane compare to normal lane.

just quickly go and get a P license la. what's so hard? you can get it within 1 month.

Lester also like singapore guys all riding big bikes..
what bike ?
*
no la, i ride Modenas new elegan only. scooter. automatic ma, no nid change gear so ma fan. I have been riding bike for almost 6 years d. 1 thing that i would like to highlight is if u are working in office wearing covered shoes, don't get bikes that use U shape gear (that's what they call in chinese). means gear 1 press down, gear 2 to 6 pull up type. it will damage ur shoe very fast. another thing good about scooter is got ample storage space and when rain, the water won't splash to ur shoe since the whole foot rest area is completely covered tongue.gif.

QUOTE(kl87 @ Mar 21 2011, 09:19 PM)
hahaha, me too thinking the same thing as you . within 1 month can get the license ~ but it is whole different story here ~

go to theory and practical class on weekend -> wait one week (at least...) to get the L license  -> practice -> JPJ test, we must wait at least one month after you get ur L license = basically we will need at least 1 month and 2 weeks .... my plan all set back due to this thing

So, even i didnt do this BIKES thing i can still go into SG ?
*
yup, you can still go in SG without do the BIKES thing. 1 thing is in the morning, there are 4 gates (i mentioned this before). 2 gates are designated BIKES gate and 2 gates are normal gates. normally, if we queue at BIKES gate, no matter how many people there are, we can still manage to get through the immigration in 20 mins. and all the BIKES gate lead to BKE. there is 1 normal gate that will lead u to the admiralty road. if u are so unlucky that the ICA people asked u to go there, prepare to queue at least 30 mins (minimum). and that road will lead u to admiralty, u need to ride all the way back to woodlands to go back into highway. there was once that i was being asked to go that section, i queued for 1 hour 15 mins for that immigration.

I think the best so far would be First Coach.  It's really a value for money in terms of the stops location, bus quality, and driver's quality.  This is definitely my first choice of travel.

Lester, you have got a car, right?  Can drive in 10 days free a year.  :-).
*
ya, but i already used 5 days and now its only March... sad.gif . don't really like to drive in SG, parking freaking expensive. better take bike in, then park at a HDB and take MRT better.

Wow, you use it so fast eh.  I have been driving for the last three days and got addicted to it.  Just that I counted the cost of driving in after the 10 days and gosh, it will be better if I rent a room in SG.
*
hahaha, u cannot drive in daily, definitely the cost will kill u. take a motorbike. then u will enjoy. get to use car in the weekend, can go out late late no nid to worry MRT will close. no nid to squeeze MRT. and u can get a larger house with that money u pay for rental. so u sacrifice some of ur time, you get back to enjoy a better life when u reach home instead of stay in ur own room. For me, i choose comfortable living > travel time. staying in the room whole day really dam boring. and the air quality in JB (further away area) is much better than Singapore. Its so cold nowadays that i don't even need air-cond. and the type of cold is different from air-cond. its humid and cold so you won't feel very dry when u wake up.

how about bukit indah terminal(near jusco aeon) for CW3 bus?
*
don't linger around that area too much. so not very sure.

why don't you just drive in? even the parking is a bit expensive, but its much more safer and convenient for you to drive around compare to putting ur car in JB.
according to JB crime rate index, the highest reported crime is motorcycle theft followed by car theft. so I seriously advice you to reconsider. unless u park it in my house la.
hahaha, but mind is only a flat, open car park. but quite safe la because the area is very far from city and very deep in. so not much people will go there.

there are people survive with $1.5k salary. depends on how u use. I can survive with $2k, but i choose to stay JB, then can enjoy a more luxurious life.

Thanks all for reply. Reason I'm asking is I'm new here and I think the only time I'll need to use passport or Malaysia IC is when applying for banking account or phone line, etc. Rest of other time I think EP = IC in Singapore so I only bring with me my EP. Correct me if I'm wrong.
*
oh ya, when u wanna recontract phone line or subscribe to anything, they will ask for ur passport also. EP alone is not good enough. like if u go RWS or MBS, even with the EP u can enter casino, but if u wanna apply for their member card, you still need to show the your passport.

Hi all, I'll be starting work at Singapore next month. I'm currently looking for a place to stay and I've some enquiries.

1.) Did you find your place using an Agent?
2.) Is it the norm for a 1 year contract to be signed?
3.) How much was your deposit and is it true that rental in Singapore is 1 month forward?
4.) How much was your Agent fees?

Thanks in advance.
*
ask your friends and relative, I am sure that somehow there is someone related to them or you that is staying in SG. Then mayb rent a room from them to save the agent fees. but if you really insist to get it from an agent, then the normal practice is 1 month advance + 1 month deposit + 1/2 month agent fees.

1st of all, u study in UiTM? so i assume that u are a Malay? why you so desperately wanna leave Malaysia? Hutang Ah Long ar? 2ndly not that i want to demotivate you, if you are a non-chinese, the chances of you landing a job in SG is a lot lower compare to Malaysian chinese because as you know, Singapore contains 75% Chinese and when you work in the service industry (Mc.D or retail stores), you need to know mandarin. Unless you can speak excellent English. but that also doesn't give you any good advantage if there is a PRC worker that speak mandarin and satisfactory level English, they will definitely go for the PRC.

Since Malay got so many benefits in Malaysia, why don't you continue to further your career in Malaysia? try to apply those GLC, you will have higher chances to get a job there and career advancement in those company if your a malay is quite good as well.

If P1 with those percentages and months, then you need to buy lunch for everyone.

Since you're short of time, the normal apply & wait thing that most Malaysians do is not going to work for you. The fact that your varied work history and Uitm diploma makes you suitable for nothing in particular will turn off many companies from taking the trouble to apply for a work permit for you since you have no particular skill.  Plus the fact that you're Mandarin challenged will exclude many service jobs in small to medium businesses.

Agents are one possibility to place you into a factory, hotel or restaurant job. But seriously, I doubt if anyone in this thread is familiar with agents who cater to those areas. Maybe one of the guys who work at the shipyards can put you into touch with their unskilled labour providers.

My personal recommendation is the casinos (IRs or Integrated Resorts). They employ lots of foreigners and are not too picky on their skill sets as they are willing to train. I think they provide hostel as well. Go online to Marina Bay Sands and Genting Sentosa websites. IIRC, you can submit applications and get info there. Lots of non-haram jobs in the IRs if you're worried about that.
*
oh ya, i think he can apply for those auxilary police in Singapore. quite well paid as well. And there are a lot non-chinese in those sector. But he need to be physically fit to be able to get that job. i got that contact from jbtalk forum. they got share how much they earn, the test and everything there. There is an Agent on that forum, but not sure if they only employ chinese since jbtalk is a chinese forum sad.gif
