I have to admit that I'm one of those who wants Rafa back.

And no, I'm not gonna use that Istanbul sentiment cause to me that is kind of expired.

For me it is more on his long term plan that is tempting me, his vision for developing youth. I've always wondering how would it be had Rafa got the financial backing he needed to bring in his first choice players.

I always thought Sir Alex always gets the players that he wanted. While Rafa often has to settle for 2nd or 3rd 4th choice eg. We targeted Vidic before but Rafa did not get enough budget.

For me the +ve:-
1) He has passion for the club
2) He said the right things in the media which reflects a top club manager mentality (except those unnecessary rants)

-ve:
1) Few of his signings have been suspect. I won't give him full control on signings players.

I will definitely give him a second chance. This time with a proper backing from the owner. If things don't work out as it should be, then Rafa has no more excuses.

Interesting proverbs there...

I bet if with Rafa on our side we can learn a lot more Spanish proverbs... like priest on a mountain of sugar, white liquid in a bottle biggrin.gif

QUOTE(rushmode)
i read alot of RB bashing. saying he won the CL because he inherit 'young' gerard and got lucky he inherit a 'strong' Houllier team. for fak sake, Houllier failed to perform in CL with his own 'strong' squad. maybe you lot still not around or forgot how liverpool perform in Europe before RB. mediocre at best.. although the UEFA cup win was a sweet one. then RB steps in and he led us to CL final TWICE in 3 years.. and destroy Europe strong teams for a couple more years. we were a dominant force in Europe again. Like Houllier, he should be respect for what he have done. FFS...

I'm with you on this. Why can't we just give RB the credit he deserves.

Phew, just finished watching highlights of Real vs Levante. Pure entertainment. Benzema is forming a good understanding with Ronaldo n Maria. Last season he was hardly spending time on the pitch.

Sorry, this might not be related to this thread but I just love watching good football. And I don't seem to get that from Roy lately.

I'm struggling just to stay awake. Is it just me, or do some players look like they are not interested to play for Roy Hodgson.

I refuse to believe that with the quality players that we have, we suddenly play very poor. Something is going on behind the scene...

Lucas-Merieles partnership has worked well so far. Please stick to it.

Good to see Agger back in action. He's comfortable with the ball. I think he could even make a good LM, if we are short of options.

Welldone reds! Agreed with the commentator for the second goal. Cole looks offside but the ball came off the defender so the goals stands.

Quick observation:-

-Impressed with Ngog contribution in the build up play. Shielding ball, finding space n making good pass. He tries to win back possession.

-Aurelio hugs the line when we attack

-We play like a home team

-Lucas battles well against Davies.

-Roy relief is very obvious

Lagging stream here. Donno what to say. The effort is clearly there. Ngog was tightly marked. I think he needs to drop a bit to be closer to Gerrard.

As for the conceded goals, I think the first we were caught on counter attack because we were to slow to track back. Knowing that they have pacey forwards, that is suicidal.
2nd goal, I think Reina could have done better to anticipate that.

The only positive from this match for me is Joe Cole performance. He is more involved in build up play, linking play, and surprisingly less dribbling which proven to work well.

Let's take a good look on this Dutch we've been linking, while waiting for the announcement. smile.gif
I've been monitoring him since we were linked to him last season. I thought he can only play on the left. But it seems that he can play on both flanks. Heard his form dipped this season and is warming the bench.

Allow me to share a rumor... from a guy who happen to know another guy (the list goes on...) tongue.gif I saw this on Soccernet

On Thursday 6th January 2011, @sparky_buttsnif said:

I drove the Liverpool Team Bus tonight and i can say that there was a lot of arguing on the bus not only onthe way back but on the way there aswell.

From what i can gather, gerrard and reina were tagged together against hodgson and lee and you would think that gerrard and reina were managing the squad rather than hodgson and lee. Gerrard told hodgson to "shut it" a number of times and that he had better find a new captain because he wasn't playing under him ever again.

so take this as you will ive just passed the msg on

Since the matter has been brough up again for the upteenth time, I'll say this. I've challenged every rival fan who claims that our win was a fluke because you don't get lucky over two legs each time. Our journey to the final was the result of less glamorous players like Biscan, Pongolle and Garcia stepping up.
and not to forget... Neil Mellor who scored one of the much needed 3 goals against Olympiakos nod.gif

Best news ever. Thanks for everything Roy. Sorry it didn't work out for you.

Finally I get to see King Kenny live in action (although on the sideline). He's the last manager to bring us the league trophy. Hope he can instill winning mentality back in the team.

It's funny that some ManU fan suddenly are not very confident about tomorrow's match. But honestly, I don't expect us to batter them or even win. I think a draw will be a good result. What I want to see is the players coming out with confidence play and winning mentality. The opposition itself is enough for motivation.

I was watching the video "100 Players Who Shook the Kop" where King Kenny is voted no. 1.

Here are some comments that I can gather about him made by previous Liverpool players:-

-He's a great player. Can adjust his game to any position. The good thing about Kenny is you can tell him to play full back, centre back and he played it well

-Good reader of the game, good passer. Somewhere good motivator because he expects the standard he sets to be high and he didn't like anybody fall a short of those standards.

-He wasn't the quickest, but he was 20 yards quick up here (pointing to head)

Thank you. I was reading this interview just now. All I can say is that his words are full of wisdom that only age and experience can give you that. The players only need to read this to get fired up.

Phew what a game. my review of the match:-

1) The awarded penalty was soft, not enough contact. Of all the referees, didn't expect Webb to easily award it.

2) For Gerrard's tackle I think it could have been either yellow or red. Pity Webb opted for the latter. I was hoping for a yellow, so the match could go on. Maybe he had a clear view. Because I remember, in the world cup final he didn't want to show red to De Jong because he didn't have a clear view of the incident.

Although he did get it right by not entertaining several dives from Nani.

3) Kelly did well. Should be given more play time and I'm sure he will improve significantly through out the season.

5) No hoofing and hoping which is refreshing.

6) Overall positive display from the lads, well done!
