my first job in Sunway Lagoon as a creative designer in 1999. my salary that time was Rm1100 with a diploma in graphic design.
Compare 13 years ago and now the pay is little more or no difference at all.

No no no. I mean compare with my first job salary with now days fresh graduates is not much difference.

It depends on the company and the person skills. If skills are enough to impress company then they will offer a good package otherwise have to start from internship.

After this month I plan to get a job as GD in SG. As a fresh grad with few years of freelance experience, what's the range of salary should I get?

It is oldest comment before 2011, now July 2012 so I think the salary of graphic designing is 1.7k as a fresher. First depend upon his knowledge of graphic designing after depend upon company, Because the company required only those student whose knowledge is better in graphic designing. It will be theoretical and practically.

Yeah agreed. Graphic Designers especially, cannot become rich in Malaysia. I think designers who are working in animation and gaming industry get more higher salary.

It's not the point of becoming rich actually.. it's just the quality of your life.. whether the amount of money you're making is enough for you to buy food / cloth/ etc expenditure... To make both ends meet? Salary and Expenditure
If many works (long working hours) + low pay .. how to survive man?

Then after a few weeks, lost motivation, passion killed, quit. I guess this happen to some of the g.designers in Malaysia.

Most of the games they just import in from other countries like korea/US and etc and host it here.. They're not the game developer) .. Not many big projects going on currently..
At least there are one made in Malaysia animation movie like SeeFood.. from SilverAnts production It's a good start.. I wonder if they will continue making movie like seefood this year... ..

If you get into this business and get a good rep there is a lot of money to be made. The hard part is getting you foot in the door and building up the reputation. Starting many don't make crap, especially if you start out working for yourself.

It all depends on the company you work with. My starting salary were 2.8k as a fresh grad. Work normal hours.. no staying back... And now I jump to another company who's offering me 5k after 2 years of working experience.
