http://maemo.org/packages/view/fm-carkit/

Not much feature tho, just a button to turn it on and off, it works together with your FM transmitter built-in our n900, how to use it is tune whatever frequency of your phone's FM transmitter and make sure your car audio is using the same one, once a call received/going out, it will automatically kick in, however...

THE Downsides:
- sometimes it's quite annoying tho LOL as it keeps disturbing your car radio once in a while if it's activated, I use another frequency in like 101.1, whenever there's a call came in then only I tune into this channel to receive call.
- still need to touch phone to call/answer.

So far this is what I found...  blush.gif

Thank you very much sifu.

QUOTE(jananan @ Jan 3 2011, 09:02 PM)
nothing for tutorial... its quite simple and exactly same steps as NITdroid 0.0.8 and 0.0.9

1) boot into maemo

2) sudo gainroot

3) mount /dev/mmcblk0p5 /and (or mmcblk1p1 if microsd card)

4) cd /and

5) rm -rf * (this will delete your old NITdroid - assuming you are in /and)

6) bzip2 /home/user/MyDocs/gingerbread.tar.bz (assuming you downloaded gingerbread.tar.bz to MyDocs and you are still in /and folder)

7) tar xvf /home/user/MyDocs/gingerbread.tar (assuming you downloaded gingerbread.tar.bz to MyDocs and you are still in /and folder)

8) dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/kernel-26xxx.NIT.deb

9) reboot

10) voila, you can eat your gingerbread

/home/ mostly contains applications files only...In some case you can still boot into Maemo with corrupted /home/ partition.

Whenever you mess with rm -rf / or any other partition destroying command just make sure your partition mounting label.
Like jananan's Android is in mmcblk0p5.Mine is on mmcblk0p4.Others maybe installed in mmcblk0p6 or any any other number of partition.

Anyway as a grim reaper repeller always keep maemo flasher/PR 1.3 image/vanilla image with you before you mess with system files.
*
all this grim reaper stories gives me nightmare...

neway will go and download 'ROTI HALIA'

Uninstall & reinstall?
My previous method of rootclear cause Application Manager error.
Yet to figure out any other method of clearing root...

There are some method of restarting hildon home to refresh the memory from my experience it could cause from device to freeze.
It's better to just to restart.

Or better option is to make a auto reboot script like Eiraku did last time.
*
thanks mate. any copy of the eiraku script.

is it safe to clear the rootfs?
any effect to the phone?
*
The rootfs of the N900 is stored on a 256mb partition of NAND memory. This memory is faster than the 32gb of storage. However sometimes this space limit can cause issues when installing apps.

The main problem here is that some poorly packaged apps install things in the rootfs instead of the 2gb application parition on the main memory. Also sometimes downloaded packages haven’t been removed by the application manager.

Firstly clear downloaded packages by rebooting the device. You can also do this with the command “apt-get clean” whilst root in an X-Term, if you don’t understand this then reboot the device.

Hopefully this should clear up sufficient space for you to install new app or updates.

If anyone do that with my phone I'll give them 1 nice slap.

I'm using qucklaunch + my own .desktop shortcut

I'm still not impressed with these tablets...
Lets see why...
Desktop class webrowser - N900 have
Flash support in browser - N900 have.I know it's only 9.4 but you can still hack it play facebook/youtube video
Multitasking - Meh...From the preview of the video Maemo's multitasking seems to much more fluid.

Come on guys...For god sake you have TI OMAP 4XXX dual core processor + 1GB + dedicated graphic with graphic acceleration.
Surely you can do much better than this outdated old tablet called N900.
