i think due to dark pool implemented... is that cause we see some transaction 1 batang??
*
Not related.

1 batang is very norm "monkey funny" play out there, since after implemented 100 shares per lot.

So that his/her portfolio show green...
or
fund manager can use the closing price, to jack up the performance bonus.
or
Syiok sendiri. laugh.gif

My view only.

so its means we should ignore those news/shows?? I can;t see through their intention/plan....

Bad news coming, all traders take opportunity to short.
Next day, no more bad news to feed the bear, short covering, turn long as sky is not falling down.
Next day, some bad news popping, take profit, close long position, short again.

Back and forth in tight range, this is what US market is moving right now.

Now we have half water in a glass.
Last night, sleep not well, big shark said it is half empty, all anchovies agree half empty, sell.
Today, feeling well, all sharks said half full, buy.

The job number this Friday is expected a job gain 150k with unemployment rate of 9.6%.

The book i read teach me ride the bull and avoid the bear (conservative style/uncle stype tongue.gif )
So don follow the trend/new should be die hard....?

If you want to play speculative, and trading, must follow the market trend, don't go against.

For long term play, it doesn't matter at all, as the one matter is choose the right stock.

QUOTE(teehk_tee @ Dec 1 2010, 11:47 PM)
well.. there is a bigger trend out there that you need to catch, right now there's a lot of noise in the market. so if you can avoid those noise and see a bigger picture, you'll do fine with a little extra care. if u follow my mistake last time and listen to the noise. u'll end up worrying for nothing and end up at square one . doh.gif doh.gif
*
People tend to look at index, overall market movement which could affect their decision making.
In fact, most people only invest in a few particular stock, and if for long term investing, just watch close how the company financial is performing, don't need to care much DJ +200 or -200.

DJ up 200 points or KLCI up +20, actually has nothing to do with your stocks.
KLCI can be recording all time high, reach 1600, but your stocks can masuk longkang as well. Look at certain stock, they are going down to all time low due to their individual issue.

If for speculating, just ride with what stocks that are in the uptrend, and ignore those in down trend.
But most people are doing the reverse, as people view:
going down, it become cheap, so tend to buy
going up, expensive already, don't want to buy.

Ended up
Going down one, keep on going down
Going up one, keep on going up.

That's where the weakness and mistake made.

And this book "Power of Japanese CancleStick Chart by Fred KH Tan" for reversal analysis, but a bit lousy book i would say for the candle, almost like our SPM books...
*
My advice, local market, most stocks are not as liquid and as freely move as US stocks, you cannot apply those TA theory 100% on local stocks.
1 batang can skew your candle chart as well. tongue.gif
Not to mention big shark when they are in goreng operation time.

ok thanks a lot icon_rolleyes.gif

theoretically speaking, if share consolidation happens n the stock jumps off a cliff, n I oversell.. I can untung? (kinda like shortselling)

E.g: I oversold at 2.08, stock limit down to .. 1.5 at T+3. then 10 bids above 1.5 is 1.6, so I indirectly shorted a share from 2.08 to 1.6? tongue.gif just exploring the curiosity here
*
Yes.

But if KLSE found it is intentionally done and large amount, instead of mistake, they might invite you for coffee session. tongue.gif

noobie question~~~
are treasury shares entitlted to dividend ?
Company A has 100M treasury shares and declares 10c divvy..
are the treasury shares enetitled to the divvy ?
if yes.. means the company is saving some money, and can afford to pay higher divvy ? hmm.gif
*
Entitled or not, doesn't make any difference.
Company pay, then going back to company. laugh.gif

Yes, treasury shares can increase EPS, saving dividend payout.

The major reason why BKawan is undervalued, are because of its liquidity, and it is a holding company.

KLK is the stock most fund manager must/will/want to have, as it is an index linked, a big cap and major plantation stocks.
BKawan is not.

Another reason, BKawan is holding company, cash and profit are bulk come from KLK, and rely on KLK. BKawan itself business is rather small only.
KLK is the one directly involve the plantation businesses, cash generator.

Until Bkawan sell off its entire stake in KLK, the value of KLK holding only will be realised.
So the value is not unlocked, no matter how high the value, you can see but cannot touch. biggrin.gif

Investor buying share want to share a profit, not seeing value/profit in the window. tongue.gif

Can, if you hold more than 51%.

QUOTE(teehk_tee @ Dec 2 2010, 12:07 PM)
i suppose maybe because I thought by being a good investor includes attending all their AGMs (when i first started out.. so gullible). when i told my dad I attended this that this that AGM he facepalm and say.. son, nobody goes to those AGMs. then i felt like a total noob after that n attend less AGMs liao.
i see.. i see.. brows.gif nice way to get close to the boss.
*
If you have leisure time, then why not.
Go to grill the directors if anything unhappy issue. tongue.gif

But mostly AGM is like formality only.
Good and well managed company has little issue on AGM generally.
As we can see everything from the annual report already.

If more people want to attend AGM/EGM, something is not right or unsatisfy on some management issue. Setting aside the free-gift attraction. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(gark @ Dec 2 2010, 01:53 PM)
The chairman of Batu Kawan is the younger brother of KLK chairman. In fact the company is cross held, between the brothers and the management is essentially the same as many holdings of Batu Kawan is cross held by KLK subsidiaries. Essentially I view them as one single company.  laugh.gif

Also it is very unlikely that Batu kawan will sell off the shares in KLK.
*
Yup, that's true.
But KLK is the one has direct control the businesses and cash.

KLK can touch those cash.
BKawan can see the cash, but cannot touch, until KLK allow BKawan to touch. biggrin.gif

The chance of Bkawan being privatised is higher instead of selling KLK stake.
I don't mean Bkawan sell KLK shares, just to highlight based on calculation of Bkawan hold 1.1 KLK share, you need Bkawan sell its stake of KLK, only the calculation is true/realised.
