Bring in the Valvetronix army!
I would pick the Roland Cube 30 over the Spider II any day. The Vox AD30VT is also worth considering. Strictly IMO so give these amps a test and judge. Otherwise you can save up some more and get the 15-watt Laney LC15 tube-amp combo instead, then applying pedals to shape your sound. |

SD1's about RM170 while the TS9 is around RM400+. If you want a TS-style pedal, I suggest you try out the Digitech Bad Monkey, it should be around RM150++. I doubt it's available in Malaysia but it shouldn't be a problem to get it in your place.
Of course, do try out the Boss Blues Driver BD-2 and the Marshall Bluesbreaker too, who knows you might like them better than the rest. Always keep in mind that these pedals sound best on tube amps. So if you're unsure how you amp would take them, borrow them beforehand. |

QUOTE(kardock @ Oct 26 2005, 03:21 AM) i just bought myself squier tele custom II, roland cube 15, boss superchorus and a gig bag for not more than RM1500. hermm... but the amp is not very satisfying. if can get 20-30W then it would be much better. Actually I would pick the Cube30 over 15 any day. The 15 sounds a little muffled, as if someone had put a blanket to cover the amp. The 30 is much more open and less muddy. Nonetheless the Cube 15 is a great practice amp for the money! Hope you enjoyed your new gear so far! Have fun and hope to hear some stuff from you soon! |

First you have to state the music you're interested in. Also, are you a beginner?
1) Different wood has different tone, so it all boils down to preference. For a strat-type guitar, alder is the common choice although some would prefer swamp-ash (more sustain but much heavier than alder). For Gibson-type of guitars, it's usually mahogany although some Epis are made with alder body. 2) For entry-level guitars, I would go for Korean/China/Indon-made Epiphone, Squier, LTD, Yamaha or even SX. As for beginner amps, Line 6, Roland, Vox & Fender's entry-level amps should give you the tone you want. 3) Your fingers determines how good the music your instrument produces. 4) A good guitar, imo, is a guitar that's well-built, with decent electronics & pickups, have a good feel and reasonably priced. Hope that helps. |

Wow... I guess Pix's post should be more than enough to guide you now.
The Roland Cube 15 and VoxAD15VT is priced at (approx.) RM450, that leaves you about RM1550 left for the guitar. I suggest you try out the Yamaha AES620 at Combo Mix, it looks very good & should sound even better. Good luck! |

Pix, next time when I need help on gears, please go surfing.
I second evo.com's suggestion on getting the 30. I've compared the Cube 15 and 30 (Almost side-by-side) and imo the 30's far superior to the 15. The sound's much more 'open' and not to forget has more amp models. The Plexi and JC models sounded very good, especially the JC, add a light touch of chorus and instant Larry Carlton. |

superdav007, I'm not too sure but here's a rough estimation of prices
Yamaha AES820 - RM1800++ (Combo Mix) Yamaha AES620 - RM2200++++ (Sold at Combo Mix KL & Euphony, Ikano's Power Center) Epiphone Les Paul Standard - RM2200+ (At Rhapsody Mid Valley, you could get a free hard case) Epiphone Les Paul Goldtop (With P90 Pickups) - RM2300+ (Also at Rhapsody MV, you'ill get a free case) SX Les Paul - Less than RM1000 I would assume? Not really sure about the rest. But you can check the prices at http://www.wwbw.com for rough estimation. As for amps : Vox AD15VT & Roland Cube 15 - RM450 Vox AD30VT & Roland Cube 30 - RM900+ CK Music is the official distributor of Vox products while you could get the Roland at Rhapsody or The Guitar Store. Some demo clips for you : http://www.voxamps.co.uk/products/valvetro...d15vtad30vt.htm http://www.roland.com/products/en/CUBE-30/demos.html http://www.dolphinstreet.com/video_clips (Video clips of Vox AD50VT) If you're still confused, feel free to ask some questions! QUOTE(evo.com @ Nov 27 2005, 03:18 PM) yea for the cube 15 and 30 theres a huge difference.... It's also partly because of the 10" speaker in the 30 as opposed to the 8" in the 15.volumewise they're prettty much the same but you get much more stuff on the cube 30 and the dist is much better.... you can go up to 5-6 without the speakers breaking on you QUOTE(superdav007 @ Nov 27 2005, 03:28 PM) Well firstly it's because it was Gibson's first mass-produced solid-body electric guitar. It's famous for its fat tone and sweet sustain. The endless list of LP players include Jimmy Page, Slash, The Darkness, Gary Moore, Zakk Wylde etc... Of course, you might like it, you might not. |

QUOTE(Namqul @ Nov 29 2005, 12:45 AM) ive seen the kustom amp but havent tried it yet..... coz im trying to look for the cheapest place to buy one.. any suggestion? I'm not too sure about acoustic amps, really sorry, can't help much. How about trying some mic modellers like the recently-released Behringer or the Yamaha Magicstomp Acoustic??? or is there any other brand which might cost less? ibanez also have one. I think its called trabodour or something. Not that sure but the smallest is 65W i think. Im looking for smaller one and if possible, 15w would be enough. What acoustic are using anyway??? With piezo pickup? |

QUOTE(xnobys @ Dec 2 2005, 09:26 PM) somebody is selling jap strat vintage white at RM1.7. what do you guys think? DAMN! Very Jeff Beck and looks mint!!! Definitely worth it!pix, you own one, right? so how's japan made fender compared to US made? is it worth it? ![]() I think the main difference (other than where they are being made, of course) between MIJ and MIA guitars is the electronics. In terms of workmanship imo, MIJ ones are spot on. If this MIJ strat is in mint condition, I would pick it over a new Highway 1 any day! Btw, you said vintage right? What year was it made in? 80s? Early 90s? This post has been edited by led_zep_freak: Dec 2 2005, 09:47 PM |

I think it's probably because of the lighting, if you look harder, you could see a bit of yellow in it.

I saw the rest of the pics in Jamtank, you're right Pix, the 'yellow' could hardly be seen lol. Might be Olympic White after all?
Try to get a COD deal from him since the seller's his friend, the friend should trust his judgement, right? Btw, what's the difference of these 2? Power Input-40 watts max Power Output-12 watts max This post has been edited by led_zep_freak: Dec 4 2005, 10:48 AM |

Just admit that you're clumsy lar hahaha...
Anyway the AER amp is very good sounding, but it won't make a cheapo acoustic sound good, so you need to fork out summore for a Martin/Taylor/(Inserts famous acoustic guitar brand). |

How about higher end Godin guitars??? They look good, play very well and versatile enough to suit your needs.
