Haha.. Fenrir, I've been through the same situation as you before..

It's the child lock thing to prevent kids from opening the door unnecessarily when the car is moving.. Safety mah..

Open your rear passenger doors, check the side near the latch on the door. You'll see a small button slider that you can slide up or down. That's child lock.

well, the placeholder for the clips is broken, it happens when the bumper is forcefully removed(man, proton car bumper is LDPC). not that obvious when looking from a distance, abt 3m, but if look closely, the gap is wider compared to right side, daymn! new car only, 5 days old, i messed it up, luckily no bumps or dents

The bodyshop can rivet it back in for u.. But the downside is once u have rivetted u cant remove the bumper unless u remove the rivet and re-rivet it back..
*

Rivet it from the inside lah.. U wont see it from the outside.. And rivets can be removed.. But then if u want to fix it back u need to have the rivet gun handy lah..
*

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bumper-Retaining-S...l/dp/B002WJKUE8

Its cheaper than fixing the original clips.. Since u are going to change the bumper in 6mths time..
*
so the main body inner part sure kena drill a hole?

hi...my front bumper LH clip also broken like the pics a few months ago...i went to a bodyshop...they said the broken clip cannot repair already, so they just screw the bumper to the inner part of the main body  and they only used 2 screws( not rivets), which cannot be seen cause it's in the inner part and can be easily removed if you want to change the bumper..and they charge me RM10 for it, which i think it's ok rather than changing to a new bumper (RM200++ without paint)..
*
i just consulted my friend who work as mechanic, he has done some checking, and ask me when i bought my car, i said just 5 days ago, then he advise me take to service centre or consult the SA on this to claim the warranty to change the whole bumper, basically this thing is beyond repair, of course i dont think i like to drill holes to my 5 days car. cos he told me similar case occured to his friend before. so i'll drop them a call tomorrow...

oh update a little bit, my friend told me even if rivet, the alignment wouldnt be the same. so i'll try my luck with the warranty claim. wish me luck persona lyn club...

Don't do that please. You don't have to stoop so low to replace your bumper.  Please don't give Persona owners (especially LYN members) a bad name. Grow up, live with it & accept that accidents are part & parcel of owning a car.  Forget about this sick scheme of yours.. I can't believe there are actually members here who would support such a ridiculous idea.
*
mind your words. before you branded my thoughts as sick scheme, i already consulted the SC, they said they need to see it before can can give me an answer, which i do not wish to pursue.
if you dont like what i said, pm me, what a sicko are you to embarrass me like that, go get a life dude.

rckh..

"Grow up, live with it & accept that accidents are part & parcel of owning a car..."?

Now those are some really hurtful words aimed at a new PE owner..

In his case, his car is only 5 days old. I can understand why he would wanna replace the whole bumper. If it's a 10 or 15 yr old car I myself wouldn't bother either. Claiming a new bumper through warranty might not be a good idea, but it's up to him what he wanna do. If he takes suggestions from other people and decided he should claim it, then it's his decision. I don't see how this can give Persona owners a bad name. If he's able to claim it, then what's there to lose? A whole new bumper for free. If he's not able to, then it's up to him later whether he wanna buy a new bumper himself/rivet/staple whatever.

No hard feelings, but I simply disagree with what you just said. Unless your comment is merely suggesting that he should NOT claim a new bumper.
*
thanks. rather than giving offensive remarks, human relationship can be improved via healthy and constructive remark. i do now wish to pursue with claiming warranty, cos the machanic suggest me do claim warranty, and i find him cos he's the only 1 i can trust in kl, and i'm not local here, and my intention of finding him is to spend money to repair my own carelessness, and yesterday i've been thinking all day it was as though cheating them. so i give up, and find a best solution to get my car fixed up.

it's not abt accepting accidents are part & parcel of owning a car, it's abt how you live it. i take it as opportunity to learn more abt automotives. this is how i learn to troubleshoot pc, even though uni didnt teach, and i always service my friends' pc, my friends friend's pc, without asking a single cent for them.

hurting? no, he's not my relatives, not even my friends, not worth hurting. i take it as offensive remarks.
this is my 1st car, i dont even own any second hand datsun prior to this, cos my family cannot afford to own me a car, but paying with my own sweat and blood, i feel happy for it. at least i can learn how to drive properly, upholding defensive driving all the time, cruise highway less than 60km/h at north south highway, etc. it's normal for ppl who will stumble across every options to solve problems. and before reading this ill intention post, i already decided it is wrong to cheat ppl like that.
and the more damage i got for my car, it was like a blessing and protection for me to learn more abt mechanics without having a more substantive damage, i.e, dents.
just 3 days my car got scratches, and a neighbour of mine pass by, he offered to go up just to take the polish wax to help me get rid of it without hoping any return from me!
if i were as wicked as you think, mr rckh, would he treat me like that, just staying in kl for less than 5 months? you'll help a stranger to polish his new car's scratches? my houseowner, more than 5 years, never interact with them, and summore, my neighbour is indian!
he even invite me yesterday evening after work, we'll go for a drink before end of this month.

again, a gentle reminder, go get a life dude, seriously, you need to put extra hard effort in human relation management

stop fighting please. stick to the purpose of this thread.

not fighting, rather, insisting to make constructive and healthy topics, instead of jumping to conclusion without further investigation, which bring indifference and a certain degree of inconveniences.

btw, care to recommend me any workshop to fix my broken brackets? i really need to learn more on automotives and improving my driving skills smile.gif

sorry. i am from the east.  biggrin.gif

Front bumper do not have brackets. They are mounted using bolts and nuts at the sides and the rest on plastic clips on the top and bottom. They are two metal brackets holding the bottom though. They get bent easily when you curb it. But no worries, can be bend back to shape. The rear bumper i am not sure how they are really mounted since i never had them taken off yet.
*
i dunno how to call that stuff, the bolts and nuts hold both main body and plastic bumper together, and i noticed, the plastic bumper, which is weaker, was torn off into squarry pieces, which still hold by nuts. i dunno how they gonna fix it, super glue the plastic part?

to me that sounds like you tore off the bumper hole for the bolts already. if that is true, habis cerita already. bye bye bumper. its either that you will have to have it replaced or have it cleverly fitted with custom steel brackets modified into it. some workshops are willing to modify it. it will mount just as good but its heart breaking to see it done on a new car.  cool.gif
*
hmmm... get it replace isnt something wise to be done. you mean using a larger-than-bumper-hole-for-the-bolts steel bracket to fit under the bumper?
