Why not buy from JREnterprise that offer RM899 for 5-years warranty?
Not sure if he can do the 3-years with lower price hmm.gif
Can try PM him too.

Anyway we shall see the review of this model U2412M eventually and we will know if it already can beat the CCFL back-light to poop wink.gif

Didn't know got better deals than Dell from the website, ordered mine on Sat. Arriving tomorrow from the SMS. Gee..

Most TN are 6 bit as well right? So if e-IPS is 6 bit, compared to TN still better color reproduction? Since technically they both produce 262k color (6 bit)?

Most TN claiming to have 16M colors are also 6 bit + dithering/FRC (Example, my current Samsung 2233SW, shows it is a 6 bit + dithering)? Found these information from google, but don't really understand =(

Well I haven really look at IPS (even an e-IPS) before so I can't really comment but some of my friends whom already compared TN and IPS wouldn't even want to use TN anymore, prove that TN panel, no matter how hard they try (8-bit or 10-bit), TN is still a TN, the panel can't output so much colors, so they use sort of processing to make it looks better.
So, to conclude, IPS still kick ass, VA can kiss IPS arses. tongue.gif

Hmmm, actually I was comparing between my TN monitor versus my iPad... color reproduction is different.. looks nicer and more saturated on the iPad. Both were calibrated by Spyder.

QUOTE(Racerx @ Aug 10 2011, 08:57 AM)
These days even TNs [good ones, not the bargain bin ones] can display that amount of colours with little to no banding based on my experience,so the 6bit part isn't really important imo.The same can be said for the eIPS panel monitors.

What's more important imo is viewing angles, with TNs when you turn or tilt or move your head even slightly there will be gamma shift. When this happens the colours would look off.On eIPS such things doesn't occur. icon_idea.gif
*
Oh well, sometimes when I'm doing editing on my photos. When I sit straight versus lying down have slightly different brightness on my screen, probably something to do with the viewing angle?. This is why I'm gonna try out this U2412M biggrin.gif... if its much better than my 2233SW, might consider getting another unit.. or probably wait for 2410's replacement with LED.

Just opened up my U2412M! biggrin.gif, love it. My 21.5 inch 2233SW looks like dwarf beside it. Hmm will try to post some comparison pics later on.

I find the U2412M very bright compared to my 2233SW ._.

I need to get the calibration right first, might post it later on :S.

Or is it my 2233SW too old already, the CCFL already not as bright.

Be patient bro. It's a Ultra Sharp monitor. Take it easy.

Oh well, don't tell me need to pay another RM899 to satisfy my dual monitor setup >_<

QUOTE(wildwestgoh @ Aug 11 2011, 08:50 AM)
I saw the review on this Sypder 3 Express and it was not meant for more than 1 monitor calibration so I don't think it works in your condition.
Sorry to say that paying more = more options and multi-monitors support, I think it should be around RM300 more, right? hmm.gif
*
I'm using ColorEyes Display Pro and using Spyder3Express as my sensor. That software supports multi monitor. So basically I calibrated both monitors but it doesn't match. Hmm, might be some thing I'm missing out.

Also, I have tried to set each as default monitor then calibrate one at a time. Both don't look similar either. (Turning on 1 at a time only..)

Gonna check the detailed settings when I get back home, might be the black and white settings issue perhaps. I left them at default on the program... or maybe its the Gamma... CEDP runs on L* instead of 2.2...

I see, so you're using dual monitor is it. Sorry didn't notice. Then good luck in your settings and calibration. Why don't you  call up DELL technical help line for further assistance? Since your U2412M newly arrived.
*
Single monitor I think the DELL is doing good smile.gif. After calibrate it removes a slight pinkish tint on mine. More saturated blues. Tried to capture on my camera but can't see differences :S. Now at office sad.gif, eager to go back home to try matching both panels LOL!

Fair enough. Is it necessary for me to calibrate since my work desktop is single monitor or it has a Auto-Setup something like that? Haha.. I suppose camera cannot capture the distinct difference? Unless is a ultra sharp super camera under conditioning lighting exposure. May be I'm wrong ehehe... Then you apply half-day and during lunch time can ciao balik rumah.
*
I calibrated my U2412M with Spyder3Express. There's no auto calibrate :S. U2412M isn't factory calibrated like the higher range.

Hmm, it should show differences actually. But I don't really know... it shows differences, but not as obvious as the one you view with your eyes.

I see haha don't really know about monitor stuffs, just read through google and apply my knowledge and patch my words up and post here. Ohh no auto calibrate.

The higher end model U2410 which cost RM1699.00 should get calibrated before send out from the factory. But so far the design and quality match your standard or not this U2412M?
*
Well, its my first e-IPS LED monitor after all, build quality is pretty good. I like the stand too. I'm satisfied with my money spent for this U2412M! But, how well does it compare to other IPS I don't really know.. but at RM899 you get 1920x1200, 24", LED backlight and e-IPS (6-bit + FRC).. why not? biggrin.gif.

23" vs 24", 1920x1080 vs 1920x1200, CCFL vs LED. I would pay the differences for U2412M judging from those alone biggrin.gif. Have not used a U2311H before, but from the spec on Dell website, seems to be similar with U2412M.

Anyways, a simple comparison between the Dell U2412M and Samsung 2233SW,

Both were calibrated to 140cd/m2 using ColorEyes Display Pro via Spyder3Express puck. Its not as obvious as in the photo compared to actual, but had to crank up the exposure to show.
--> Am being curious, yellow cast on the Dell instead white like on the 2233SW?

Continued,

White point,
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Somehow, I calibrated both to D65 (6500K) and 140cd/m2 for white point but then... both looks different sad.gif

My iPad 2 which also uses IPS panel, calibrated with SpyderGallery via Spyder3Express has similar white compared to the dell.

Image comparison, the iPad's brightness is not calibrated to 140cd/m2 like the other 2... i only adjust roughly similar that's all.

Gonna say this is amazing, but exposure could have been lower, I thought the U2412M has bad bleeding there... LOL, anyway good job on the review. I might take up this model if I have some spare cash.

FYI, every IPS has the same issue as you're pointing, yellowish tint, it's the IPS clouding and this is common to every single IPS out there, even the H-IPS has this, it does not however affect overall colors during normal viewing so it's not a problem.

Out topic: What camera you using?
*
I thought this is quite dark already. Oh well, if I use the same exposure as first pic, its pitch black. Can't see anything.

Just to understand, the IPS clouding happens when there is light bleeding? Or even without light bleeding also have?

I'm using D700 + 16-35 f/4 for these photos.

After using U2412M for a few days, totally loving it! 1920x1200 is better for me as per compared to 1920x1080 of my other monitor. More vertical space to work with smile.gif

U2412M seems to have less yellowish compare to my u2711, may be the LED does give an edge over this issue.

BTw Celciuz, can you take some picture with the monitor place in potrait mode? would like to see how good the led back lighting does

Yeah, I paid RM899 for it. To those interested in upgrading their monitor to 24" this is a good buy!

OT : Gonna try to see if Dell can refund me RM100 or not... no harm trying I guess tongue.gif
