Where you look for that ?

Using it, Studio XPS 1640, not much improvement, most likely because its more into the HD5xxx/6xxx as mine is HD4670...

Nah, no harm...
I sometimes force to install desktop version driver  or if you want, try look C7112250.inf under Asus's ATi driver and find the one line containing HD6470 and copy it to the C7112250.inf extracted by the 11.1 and try install again... |

Open the start menu and type windows update, run it and check for updates, install any important updates..
Is your kaspersky do startup scan ? |

Well, it still just a guess...
If it is the culprit, then the only way is to uninstall it or try reinstalling it with other installer... |
