well bros, I just got myself an "Asus A42JC" and free upgraded RAM to 4GB. It costs me RM2599. Does it worth the price and any comment on the specs? Beginning hunt for Acer Timeline series but ended with this one as feel this brand is more reliable.

Pretty much that the only spec you can get if restricted to Asus brand within that budget..Appreciate your gurus input soon |

From this forum it seems I can't find anyone talking about this model "A42JC". Is it rename as something else or not a popular model? But for me the specs looks fine to me.

From the A42JC and Timeline series, the difference is only the GC where Timeline using ATI and 42JC is on Nvidia M310. Apart from that, the HDD for Timeline is slightly bigger (640GB vs 500GB). The rest looks the same to me so how do we conclude that Timeline series looks attractive compared to this one?

Unfortunately, after installing Windows 7 files and setup.....it just couldn enter the windows and keep on booting to the windows setup screen.. I'm wondering if anyone of you face this problem before and can share some solution to me plssss..... NOTE: 1. I have tried to format 3 times and the same problem occur (KEEP RESTARTING) 2. I end up trying to recover the Windows using ASUS DEFAULT RECOVERY and I CAN ABLE TO USE THE WINDOWS BUT I NEED A 32 BIT WINDOWS. |

HD5650 is at least 2 times better than GeForce 310M, thus a better option for gaming...also TimelineX's selling pt is battery life... up to 8hrs of battery life is unrivaled at the same price... Asus' closest (in hardware and battery) is the yet-to-be-launched U41Jf, rm2999... so overall, TimelineX is the winner... |

Ok guys, I think I got what you mean. If that's the case then I still think my preference still the right one as I already got 2 bad experience owning Acer laptop (HDD issue, CD Rom dead, overheating).

I just let the computer to run, and it will reach the Windows wallpaper BUT with GRAY COLOURRR....NO ICONS... THEN RESTART. I tot it might be VGA program and i found that BIOS dun have the settings for using which VGA as primary VGA. SIGHHH................ OR IS IT THE RECOVERY PARTITION EXISTS THAT MAKES THE PROBLEM OCCURS? |

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Nov 29 2010, 10:50 AM) you got both right.and size too. Now I bring it out everyday. my a42jv is sleeping for more than a week without power on Added on November 29, 2010, 10:46 pm QUOTE(eugenechiuu @ Nov 29 2010, 12:20 PM) haha how's the performance? I am so tempted to buy a netbook, but still can't find any use for it somehow lol.. performance is good. Start is fast. I think it start fasterthan A42jv. Probably win starter is less loaded. I think this Acer Aspire One Happy is better performance due to dual core n550 + 2gb ram. And I feel that 320gb hardisk is great for storing photo if we go holiday. The most important thing is I get to bring this out everyday and I dun feel the weight.... Can online everywhere... i love it!!! This post has been edited by gogo2: Nov 29 2010, 10:46 PM |
