well you can look at a 4ch before you move to a full blown 6 channel...
I have 2 4channel
I start with a Walkera CB180D which is a 4 channel fixed pitch and very stable... I have upgraded it into a harden blade and harden tail which proven to be a better crash proof...
then I move to a V200D01 also 4 channel but without flybar and less stable compared to CB180D... it is a very steep learning curve...
then finally I moved to a Walkera V450D01 this is HARD!!! a full flybarless collective pitch or known as CP heli... it is a 6 channel heli and IT IS HARD TO LEARN AND YOU WILL CRASH!!! ...
I CRASH THIS BIRD well few times....
so what I suggest is go with 4 channel before you go into CP heli and trust me some friends I know who venture straight into CP heli give up due to CRASHes and $$$ (well every crash is $$$ and time)
so start wit a 4CH and enjoy this hobby a 4CH heli will keep you in the learning curve at least for 1 year....
if you are interested I'm letting go my Walkera CB180D at a good price (PM me and I will let you know)
I'll package together with RTF include remote and heli + some spare parts you may require... incase of crash.... dont worry this heli parts is available in Malaysia and not expensive to repair if crash also in the event of crash most of the parts can be bend back or self repair...
Added on March 10, 2011, 11:28 amoh by the way interm of taking out $$$ for windy resistant heli... here is my tips..
1. Never buy Coaxial Heli (the heli with 2 main blade top and bottom) they sucks and usually 3 channel or 3.5 (.5 = gyro) and trust me it cannot handle wind no matter how big is the heli!!! and you cannot learn anything from it (waste time and money)
(Some china brand like SYMA or some Horse brand)
2. Fixed Pitch heli can handle wind but not strong wind and usually if you fly at wind in 3-4mph it should be OK also remember heli is not a plane dont fly too far!!!
also size matters a 180-250 size heli can tahe wind of 3-5mph and the bigger the better BUT... if you crash the BIGGER = More $$$
a 180-250 size will cost around RM700 - RM800 in MALAYSIA
(Usually Walkera)
3. Collective pitch Heli can handle wind very well and it is HARD to learn... a friend of mine took 3 years to learn this heli and it will take alot of $$$ and it usually go around THOUSANDS or more... this bird will cost RM2000 for a RTF 250 size and more for 450 size
(Usually Align kits and FUTUBA remote)
My advise stick with Fixed pitch and move to CP heli
Ps. Dont get E-sky Belt CP the gyro is too lousy and you will crash and spend like no tomorrow... and end up giving up!!!
