Asian Markets fell, Investors Concern on Irish Debt Issue
A lower than expected result of CiscoSystems Inc
shakes investors’ faith in the strength of the
economic recovery. Wall Street closed lower
yesterday and Asian markets were in red as well.
Japanese share market hit lower, Nikkei was down
1.16% in the midday trading session, after ending
the previous day at its highest in 4-month on profit
taking. Hong Kong stocks also seen lower, with
Hang Seng Index fell 1.03% to 24441.64.
The Australian stock market is also weaker today.
The S&P/ASX 200 was down by 0.80%, pulled down
by financial, material and industrial stocks.
FBMKLCI closed 0.7% lower at 1503.29 in its
midday break. Gainers trailed losers 191 to 568,
while 222 counters traded unchanged. Volume was
at 852.8 million shares valued at RM952.8 million.
Crude oil price fell on mounting fears that Irish debt
might cause a possible bailout for Ireland. Crude oil
was at USD86.58/barrel as at 12.30pm.
