So for better signal I can either add a booster or change to 9dbi omni antenna.

depends on:

1) usage purpose
2) area (indoor / outdoor) (small area / wide area)
3) blocking conditions


if just for house indoor wifi coverage, no need booster, just use high gain antenna.

Will the Signal Booster be compatible with my router ASUS WL-AM604g

as long as a wifi router/ap fullfill these criterias, then can use signal booster:

1) it is a normal wireless tx power router/ap (not over 100mW/20dbm originally).

2) it is using detachable antenna design, ie having the antenna connector to connect to the signal booster.
