plenty of free lunches in UK LOL

freesat is a joint venture between UK's private and government owned entity, astro and malaysian government should learn from them

why limit your brain's activity, think outside the box, anything is possible icon_idea.gif

I don't think Astro is a joint venture between the private Astro company and the Malaysian government. If it is not a joint venture, why should Astro transmit free TV program for the government? So what have box or no box have to do with it?

If government wanted Astro to transmit free RTM, then the government should pay Astro money. So you should go blame government and stop barking up the wrong tree.

Put it in another way. I didn't pay for your car or your petrol, can I use it for free? Or do I have to pay you money to use it?
*
I didn't mention astro is a joint venture in my previous post

I said UK's freesat is a joint venture that astro and our government could emulate to provide non-luxurious free satellite TV to the rakyat
search the net, freesat is created in UK, read and understand about it more

did I blame government in my previous post? hmm.gif

barking up the wrong tree? where did it come from? rclxub.gif

please don't put your words in other people's mouth, read carefully other people's post rclxub.gif

we have already paid the government, now is their turn to provide us with free lunch, they should provide us alternative free satellite TV since they have already tax us for watching luxurious astro

I'm a bit of a noob bout those FTA channels..but can anyone just enlighten me of the countries that have those FTA channels that we dont? I mean I wanna know which government allows it legally without any restrictions? I mean South East Asia countries and not those in Europe or the US?
*
it seems that The Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Combodia have no restriction to own satellite equipments

sabah sarawak just like the rest of malaysia states, people are forbidden unrestrictive ownership of satellite equipments, but people there do it anyway knowing no one is enforcing the law

this is a list of satellites hovering on the equator belt, if their beam footprint cover your area, then you could receive these satellite TV channels with cheap satellite equipment

if you need to know more about satellite TV, I am sure a lot of local kids are happy to provide more info to you brows.gif

under Malaysia’s National Spectrum Plan, 700MHz spectrum band is allocated for broadcasting service, YTL Communications executive director Datuk Yeoh Seok Hong said his company had applied for that paticular spectrum, lets wait and see what happen by the year end icon_rolleyes.gif

Out of curiosity how did they force you to upgrade? Did they call you up? I'm still using my MAX stb.

they will eventually call you LOL
since max can do recording, I think it is more to do with complying the movie copyright law

satellite TV is the way to go for nationwide TV coverage, however there shall not be any competitor to astro until 2015, because astro was given an exclusive satellite TV DTH transmission license for 20 years by our government back in 1996

for new subscribtion, read this page
http://www.astro.com.my/newsubscription/ar...es/art_693.html

for HD activation you will need to add RM20 HD fee, currently 5 HD channels(AXNHD, AXNBeyondHD, OneHD, FxHD, FoodNetworkHD) are not tie to any packages, anyone with byond box with HD activated can watch these channels

That is good because the temperature is ventilated effectively so thats why you feel hot at the pvr casing. The important thing is the internal component i.e. CPU, HDD should not get hot because the automatic fan will control its temperature.
are you sure?

usually these type of fan (like computer CPU fan) will spin at reduce speed on bootup, not stop entirely, seems to me the likely cause is a faulty fan, will ask for a replacement box rclxub.gif

Same with your PVR, the fan will spin during the boot up process, you can hear it or you can see it. It is recommended that the surrounding area of your PVR has good air ventilation and not recommended to be put inside cabinet etc. smile.gif
*
have you got a PVR at home? yours spin at bootup?

actually when i push the power button..it's a standby mode..when the clock is show..but in the morning when i wake up.the decoder show "boot".

it seems like you box did not boot successfully, try power cycling your box (ie. turning the power supply off then on again)

if still no go, I think you may have a defective byond, ask astro for a new replacement

after byond installation, you should receive an acceptance form from the installer, installer name and code are printed on the form

if you read the manual, you will learn that HDMi digital audio can not adjust its volume, only analog audio(with red/white rca connection) can be adjusted,
however byond's remote control con be used to adjust TV's volume directly

do you mean single dish support multiple byond box?

yes, quad output LNB can support 4 normal byond boxes, or 2x byond PVR
