QUOTE(buzzfizz @ Nov 21 2010, 08:16 PM) Thats what I thought so I unplugged everything and re-plugged and still doesnt work. The decoder doesnt do anything, it doesnt even show the timeĀ have you checked the 12v power plug at the back of astro byond? This post has been edited by neb: Nov 21 2010, 11:40 PM

for LED-backlight LCD, colour for some scenes seem to be a bit funny but the real benefit is it uses very little power This post has been edited by neb: Nov 22 2010, 09:48 PM

I read somewhere from the net about improving SD picture quality, try setting HDMI output to 576i on the byond box, the upscaling done by the byond box with 720p/1080i setting may degrade SD picture quality

QUOTE(Qash-M @ Nov 28 2010, 11:23 AM) And B.yond reconverted back to MPEG4? nope, I am surprised you didn't know, all astro SD channels are encoded in mpeg2, therefore TLC is in mpeg2

QUOTE(Qash-M @ Nov 28 2010, 12:14 PM) Can't Astro just leave original feed to B.yond and MPEG2 converted for normal...? why would astro want to transmit same channel twice? byond boxes are capable of decoding both mpeg2 and mpeg4 video stream you can't improve on SD channel picture quality by simply using mpeg4 if the original source is crappy, as they said rubbish in rubbish out This post has been edited by neb: Nov 28 2010, 02:28 PM

check your astro byond system version, see if HDMI is on
astro is able to switch on or off Byond's HDMI port via satellite

next test is to use another piece of HDMI cable, if still no HD video then ask astro for a brand new replacement byond PVR

QUOTE(yongkailoon @ Dec 1 2010, 01:09 AM) Guys, first of all please excuse my question if it's a ridiculous one. Totally clueless about this. Currently I connect my TV to a pretty old home theater system via the AV jacks (the red + white jacks) and only 2 speakers plus the subwoofer have sound but the centre and the surround speakers remained silent. So this is due to the AV jacks limitation right? So if I were to change to B.yond, what should the setup be to my home theater system in order for the sound to be coming out from all the speakers? Once again, excuse me for this newbie question. you can switch on fake surround on your home theater system for analog audio source but for the real Dolby digital surround sound, you will need to connect either hdmi or coaxial digital audio from byond to your amp if your amp does not have any digital audio input, then buy a new av receiver This post has been edited by neb: Dec 1 2010, 01:22 PM

@awls80
astro implementation of byond PVR is not flexible at all, astro seems wanted to comply with copyright rule 100%, recorded videos must reside in one particular decoder only, movies can not be transferred out of the decoder box

malaysian annual Corruption Perceptions Index for year 2010 is 4.4 out of 10, for comparison singapore got 9.3
based on this rating, astro should not have any problem LOL

QUOTE(lotus_man @ Dec 8 2010, 07:18 PM) m_imrun : ok. i now hav a coaxial cable downstairs connected to my tv. n i can get astro n also d other channels. is it possible if i hav that coaxial cable connected to some kind of splitter n from then on, that splitter have a HDMI output to be connected to the tv? let me guess.... if you wanted to get HD video to 2 HDTV, then you will need a HDMI splitter, connection from HDMI splitter to HDTV will be using HDMI cable
