Has Astro anything to do with the government NOT allowing us to have Free to Air satellite from all over the world? There are literally hundreds of free channel and some paid channel up in the sky that are accessible to us for a mere few hundred Ringgit (paid once in a lifetime, not monthly or yearly etc), if only the government allows it.

The government is afraid of losing their cronies such as Astro. And Astro is afraid of true competition.

Why disallow free channels from the world over ? Even china has more than 30 (lost count) free channels (more than ass throw family package laugh.gif )

And as for those lame arguments that astro is a luxury item, so is your car.

In a world where there are tons of free to air channels, fast speed internet, these are NOT considered luxury items anymore, they are considered normal modern necessities.

Fast Internet in Malaysia is another item that is ridiculously expensive when compared to other countries. All because some people with a 'stone age mind' think that these are 'luxury' item.

Most of the people in the world don't own a car and that is considered a luxury item.

Maybe lapaq can switch to using public transport or riding bicycle to work because it accomplish the same task. brows.gif

I came to conclusion people working in Astro are either incompetent idiots or scam artist.

Astro grossly overcharged me in my latest invoice. Called up 3 times to explain and every time they agreed it was their mistake to overcharge but they never give me any rebate. May be I have to go to Small Claim Court to get at Astro and call press people to come witness what sort of arrogant b*&^% they are.

Why not complain to lowyat.net customer service manager aka lapaq ? brows.gif

Hopefully, we won't have the love-hate relationship reply again. rolleyes.gif

I have deactivated my HD services.

Until they add in more HD channels and remove the subtitles into closed caption, let all of us BOYCOTT astro HD.

Cost of everything is going up and with 6% govt tax, it's just not worth it to pay so much to greedy monopoly.

so did astro charge you RM10 for deactivation?

after deactivation, is your HDMI port still working?

HDMI port not working anymore. mad.gif

But we don't feed greedy monopoly.

Why should they deactivate HDMI port because we have the right to use it to connect to TV.

So what other options beside Bluray? I never watch but my favorite is History and Nat Geo. Face it, there aren't any viable options around.

We can still watch Internet movies in HD and also bluray.

I know TM Unifi has ChannelNews Asia but I think astro (as a good partner with the gov) wont allow them to be on Astro..simple reason is Channel News Asia brings news about Malaysia that might hurt the government..Here we get crap TV1,TV2,TV3 news that are all pro gov and the opposition are all bad guys.. all things are rosy on the government side..but try watching Channel News Asia and they will give us the 'other side of the story'..Malaysian government are scared the people living in KL, and the northern states will hear news that would not be heard on the local news channels..

BTW, is the NHK channel on ch398 the same NHK channel that CNN, BBC and Al Jazeera got their news feed from? Or is that a different NHK? I dont have ch398 in my subscription..

Thailand is a much more free country than Malaysia. I could view channelnews asia while I was in a hotel there. thumbup.gif

I can tell you, their news is much better, global and truthful than the crap news we get from TVxxx. doh.gif

ch 398 is the same NHK from japan, it is also widely available in Thailand cable TV.

PS. waiting for that 'love-hate' relationship comment from a 'certain astro staff' who NEVER want to improve ASS-THROW. laugh.gif
