New firmware Release 1.05.04 (5/12/2011) is better than the previous one.-Supports USB hard drives greater than 2TBs. -Resolved user interface brightness issue introduced with last release. -Resolved Hebrew subtitles not displaying correctly. -Resolved several Facebook user interface issues. -Resolved several Tunein user interface issues. -Resolved arrow keys on keyboard do not work in Network Setup. -Resolved Scrolling text is not smooth. http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/updates/?family=wdfWDTV_Live |

wondering when we can get multi-channel AAC to be decoded internally and relayed to the AV Receiver thru "digital passthrough" instead of being downmixed to 2-channel stereo .......

QUOTE(pokemon @ May 15 2011, 12:31 AM) It looks kinda ugly to place at the wrong place and the audio & subtitle selection is not that responsive like before. agreeQUOTE(terranova @ May 15 2011, 12:49 AM) wondering when we can get multi-channel AAC to be decoded internally and relayed to the AV Receiver thru "digital passthrough" instead of being downmixed to 2-channel stereo ....... yeah, we need this, AAC 5.1...else im sticking to HD movies with DTS or AC3 only QUOTE(DarkNite @ May 15 2011, 04:44 PM) yeah. laggy... |

Hi all,
I wanna ask. Can WDTV Live Hub stream movies for free (not youtube), like AVATAR and 2012? I'm putting this as consideration to go for either wdtv hub or AsiaHub which can stream movies for free.....thanks |

The new firmware made the initial start-up take a much longer time. Some of .avi files couldn't start to play sometimes... switch off and on again... walla.. the file can play as normal. No issues with .mkv files. I hope they can improve on the virtual keyboard by adding '.com' and '.' button on the first lay-out.
Why I buy this tiny little thing instead of another HTPC to stream to my big TV? Coz it is tiny, no additional messy cables and easy to move around connecting to other tv's.... btw, I have NAS to stream contents to the tiny little thing. |

Yep noticed latest firmware got some weird problems .... 1) startup doesnt work sometimes. Have to turn off and on 2) it keeps defaulting to composite video output even though I choose hdmi previously 3) wifi streaming has problems... lag or hang Think i will go back to old firmware |

QUOTE(Zxuan @ May 17 2011, 07:51 PM) why not straight using a pc system instead of this player? wdtv (or any other media player) are just plug and play, small, minimal power consumption, etc..is there any differences? kindly note me, thanks for pc, -it's big (or it's small but the price of it's casing alone can buy a nice media player already) -need to do some homework for compatibility (graphic card/mother board can support tv out, hdmi, hd def, ac3 output or got optical output, etc) -startup time.. cannot beat media player -unnecessaryly use higher power than media player -etc Well in short, wdtv is just plug and play with minimal wiring..
