Ya, the price is a bit over what I have in mind. cry.gif

It's a good time to join, because the price has drop a lot.. It got mine for rm310.. not the cheapest, but definitely awayyy cheaper than when it was first available..

I connects usb hard disk, usb wifi and usb keyboard, and usb hub on it.. and since my wireless router is only G speed, but I still can stream divx (700MB) movies without issue.. and too bad, with this G speed, copying 700MB movies using wifi takes half an hour..

I had a though to install custom firmware, but i'm not clear whether it works with usb keyboard or not.. So, I stick with official firmware because it supports usb keyboard very well..

I went to lowyat, 2nd floor.. I went to soo many shops (pc zone, sri komp, cycom, viewnet, etc)..
All of them don't have stock anymore.. even their leaflet
don't list wdtv live anymore except wdtv live hub.. Basically, all 2nd floor shop didn't carry wdtv
live anymore. Lastly, for my last visit before going home, I went up to 3rd floor..
and unexpectedly, Jayacom still got stock.. I was so relieved..

anybody successfully perform network share (over wifi) using wdtv live and windows 7? really pain in the back to configure. Got 3 HDDs, 1 works, 2 doesnt. All having exactly the same config.

wdlxtv custom firmware supports the same wifi adaptor just like the original wd firmware? any comment appreciated.

Thanks.

Rather then sharing HDDs, i think better share folders.
In folder sharing make sure you add user ' Everyone ' to each folder you share and give full access.
If this doesn't work.

Download and configure TVersity on your PC.
It will solve all your streaming issue. A good media server.

Hv fun....

Tq.

I'm using unpowered usb hub. However, the latest firmware doesn't allow 2 disks/thumbdrive to be shared
using a usb hub. Disk/thumbddrive + usb wifi also not allowed. The player will hang.

So, what I did, the back usb port is connected to usb hub. The hub is connected to keyboard and external usb drive.
The side usb port is connected to usb wifi.

My unpowered usb hub is only rm5.. By the way, from my reading, powered usb hub can be used.

I'm also using official firmware. The b-rad firmware should not have any issues with usb hub (frm what I read).

Bro, this is awesome...but i think once u use powered hub, it should allow multiple drives...just a theory.
Thanks for sharing this. I haven't tried using hubs or powered hubs. Well, if i need to add a disk, now I know at least that it works.
I just stream for now.

Tks bro. Good share.

It supports same wifi adaptor like original one, b-rad just added more features to wdlxtv
Easiest way to share your files is using tversity, but you don't get thumbnails display
Normal windows share(samba), you'll still get the occasional stutter playing movies

Anyone here tried streaming m2ts file around 40gb wirelessly?
Tried playing transformers 2 (41gb), stutters after 30 seconds into the movie..
~20gb m2ts file still ok, main pc still using 100mbps lan adapter..

what i read is if use tversity media streaming instead of sharing, you will not see thumbnail. I prefer to use network share.
Intention is just to play at most 1080P files with DD 5.1, which file size usually dont go up to 30-40gb.

with b-rad, if i use network share, can i get moviesheet? And how is the file management? mkv can be in individual folders since i use ember media manager to extract the posters, subtitles, fanart etc...have not done detail reading on b-rad yet..

tried to play 30gb mkv on wireless, with the wdtv sitting next to unifi stock dlink router with buffalo wli-uc-gn; cannot. badly sangkut2...
http://www.buffalotech.com/products/wirele...apter-wli-uc-gn

thanks for the input guys...

Yes you can, the thing about browsing your movies from network share is that it also shows other files like thumbnails/pictures even when you're only selecting video files, so xmount feature is added that allows you to mount network shares as local drives, this way it will only show video files.

Yup, they can be in individual folders, regarding the moviesheet, there are 2 versions:

Linksheet - WDTV scans for sheet files after boot, this may take a while depending on how many movies you have and moviesheets generated. Moviesheet displayed is instantaneous and there's almost no lag when navigating different movie folders. The scan is repeated on each boot.

Msheet plugin(default) - No scanning time, there's only a short delay about 0.5 second to display the moviesheets.

If you're skeptical to flash the official firmware, you can try using flash version of wdlxtv
Just extract the files to usb drive and plug to wdtv, it will boot from the usb instead.

http://forum.wdlxtv.com/viewforum.php?f=61

Latest wdlxtv is based on official firmware v1.03.49, so there's the fix for mkv files with compressed headers and dvd menus. Only missing wdtvext(allows to use plugin).

It's pretty easy, let me simplify it for you
To enable sheet view, the moviesheet name needs to end with '_sheet.jpg'
Example:

Predator <--- Movie Folder
----Predator_sheet.jpg <-- Moviesheet for movie folder
----Predator.mkv
----Predator.mkv_sheet.jpg <--- Moviesheet for media file(displayed once the folder's selected

I recommend using thumbgen to generate moviesheets.

I'm still using older version of wdlxtv 0.4.3.1 coz I prefer using msheet plugin
wdtvext for 1.03.49 and later is still in progress

It's not really that hard.
Just extract the firmware files on the root of the usb drive, plug it to wdtv live and restart the player, that's pretty much it
WDTV will boot from the firmware files in the usb drive.
