QUOTE(ComradeZ @ Nov 4 2010, 04:35 PM) thinking of getting 85mm 1.8 tho... seems to have alot of people saying it is the best yet prime... but don't know if it is true... been thinking of getting uwa lense for sometime now hahaha... Depend on what you shoot though... and your prefered focal length. Do consider that the longer the length, the faster shutter speeds that you need to keep blur at bay. |

QUOTE(ianho @ Nov 4 2010, 08:22 PM) U better think carefully ah. Not every1 wants an M9 coz it only does 1/4000. I'm a daylight, wide open kinda fella so I prefer the M8 which does 1/8000. When ur shooting at f1, really need the 1/8000. N u better keep at least the 5D coz u will still need an SLR. Just taroh a ND8 filter for daylight lor.. no need 1/8000 di |

QUOTE(azrash @ Nov 6 2010, 10:15 PM) Just came back from a 2 week tour of duty... doing weapon cleaning now .... and found some bulu behind the focus screen!!! ps: Anyone know how to remove 550D focus screen? QUOTE(charles86 @ Nov 6 2010, 11:17 PM) I'll go (I did actually) with the 18-135mm... peng leng jeng Not the best lens in the world but it's half the price of the 18-200, light (this is important) and has good IS. Image quality .. I can live with. My travel mate actually brought a 28-70 and 17-40 to poison me but most of the time, I stick with the 18-135mm Sample here .... daylight = EF-S 18-135... low light = Sigma 30mm f1.4 http://www.flickr.com/photos/23880047@N05/...251446376/show/ Hope that helps. |

Tamron not utilizing Canon's cross type AF point.http://www.canonrumors.com/2010/11/tamron-lens-phenomenon/ Then again... I didn't like the 17-40L too. Not here not there for crop sensor. Not even sharp. |

I use a Kata DB-455 for business travel cum photographic trip all over Europe though travel light though... have lugged it with a 13" notebook + 550D + 18-135mm + Siggy 30mm all over Europe... even on those 6 hour jalan jalan + some stops in the pubs etc. Goes reasonably well with a suit too.

QUOTE(poi2005 @ Nov 9 2010, 08:36 PM) Thanks for the info. You mentioned 50% scenery, 35% buildings, 10% people, 5% night shot and personally, hardly find the need to go all the way to 270mm for these situation.Btw, I saw from other forum mentioned that when zooming the lens (in certain range) it feels a bit hard/stuck, is this true? Cool, might consider a external flash if budget still allow. Also, lenses like the 18-270 and the 18-200 weights 3x your current 18-55 IS kitlens. It's worth looking at a canon 18-135mm/ sigma 18-125mm and use the weight/budget balance to get a 50mm f1.8 for low light situation (add together still cheaper and lighter) especially in places whereby a flash is not ideal.. like in museums, places of worship etc... and a big camera+big flash attached could create too much unwanted attention some less safe place. My 2 cents. |

QUOTE(skydna @ Nov 11 2010, 12:05 PM) Hi all sifu~ really need some advice here~ Are you a professional photographer? i had research around a month but still cant come out a conclusion which item to upgrade~ currently i had a 3 years old 350D + kit + 50 F1.8 + 35 F2 Mostly i am shooting portrait all the time but these day some friends starting to married and need my help to take photo in the wedding~ i like to use prime lens all the time~ but it is inconvenient to use when wedding and i got no flash, i can only borrow a Nikon SB-600 to use in full manual(include the camera) which make me tired. Moreover, i had lost my wide angle for long, really miss it (around 24~28mm will do, KIT? ah forget it) After long time of research i had come out 2 option 1. Buy 5D mk2 and use back the 35mm + 50mm after clear the installment then only brought another 24mm and 85mm 2. Use back 350D and buy a 16-35 F2.8L or 24-70 F2.8L + Flash (Nissin Di866) + battery grip with 1 more extra battery Really need you all advice thanks~ If not, then why stretch/pay by installment to get essentially toys. |

QUOTE(skydna @ Nov 12 2010, 01:00 AM) Hi~ i am not a professional photographer so thats is why i am still wondering to installment and get such a expensive body or not~ Ever consider a new crop body. Even the most entry one (maybe except the 1000D... cos that's REALLY plasticky) are significant improvements and cost a fraction of what you have planned.the reason not going other body because i cant really find much improvement on the usage of what i concentrate on and really miss the perspective of 35mm full frame like the old film time so if not to go 5D mk2 i will just keep my 350D although it sometime has some focusing problem with big aperture lens and no spot metering but to invest more on lens and accessories~ Thanks for your reply~=D Point is...just buy what you can afford (= don't have to loan/installment/eat maggi/eat sand). |
