Since i just got a 50mm f1.8.

Just a test shot for it, and probably my nicest shot so far.
pic not edited, taken using 60D + 18-200mm kit lens.

I see that you're using the Rode Videomic? How is it on your 60D?  smile.gif
*
yeap, i'm using a Rode VideoMic... quality is great...
i even used an Audio Technica boom mic with Sennheiser mic wireless system on it during the shooting last week.
The sound was uber good...

just one thing turns me down... unlike my Panasonic HS300... it has no headphone jack... so it's kinda hard for me to monitor the sound...
just depends on the meter.

i hooked it up to a small 6.5" external LCD monitor, even plugged in the audio cable, and i still couldn't hear the sound thru the monitor after i plugged the headphone into it...
but while playback, there was sound comin out from the monitor's speaker... really weird... i just wonder why DSLR just doesnt let ppl to monitor the sound... XD

err.. i m not sure.. but u said u wanna monitor the sound recorded.. so mayb u can get a splitter to split yr mic input to headphone and to camera.. those audio stuff..
*
but then if like that the sound quality isnt it will be mono instead of stereo?

I thought u should get those amp thingie instead of a mic... but I also dont know for sure... go search at youtube.. most of them used sony dmc [as their recording sound system for 5dm2] to get stereo output
*
the preamp with XLR input? this i know... but still recovering from my wounds... lol... it costs more than 1k... big damage after buying the 60D...

QUOTE(farscope @ Nov 5 2010, 12:37 PM)
then u have to test out and do some research lo.. i never tried before, juz giving a suggestion since u wanna listen to yr own recording while video..
*
will do more research on it... so far so good for it.. have to save some bullets 1st... XD

Wah wireless lavs, nice. I no budget for those kind of set up yet, although I want it  laugh.gif

Yeah that's one problem I get with recording videos on the 5D2, there's no headphones output to monitor the audio. If I want I'll have to buy an external preamp or use those Zoom recorders.

Btw bro, I assume you're not using AGC right? Where do you usually set the audio levels? Another bad thing about not having an external preamp is that I can't change the audio levels on the fly while recording.  sad.gif
*
yeap... it's a wireless system that comes with the lavs... but we used an AT boom mic instead...
those equipments not mine 1... we rented it from somewhere... cant afford it yet... haih...

i rather get an external preamp than a Zoom recorder... at least it has 2 or 3 mic inputs... since the price is almost the same...

of coz not using AGC... i think all video ppl should know this, rite? haha... i normally test sound 1st... ask actors to speak like normal, then talk louder... then scold ppl... wanna get the perfect level... normally i will set it before yellow bar...

Oh okay. I'm currently using a cheapo hotshoe shotgun mic, will have to do for now since I don't really plan on going deep into videography. But I'm already finding the hotshoe mount mic quite limited already, but what to do, not gonna spend a few Ks just for audio equipment. Well at least not until I'm 100% going into videography la  laugh.gif

Seems like a lot of people recommend the Juicedlink preamps. At least with the preamp the annoying background hiss can be eliminated and can adjust the gain manually while recording.

Yeah I'm using manual audio gain too, but I find it quite difficult not being able to adjust the levels when I'm recording. Most of the time when I record, the voices won't be at a constant volume, but up and down up and down  laugh.gif
*
dont worry, bro... even a cheapo shotgun mic will help alot... i'm more to videography, so photography stuff i dun really know.
I think i will spend money on audio equipment, cuz i really need a good one.

Juicedlink? never heard of it... perhaps i should google it later... smile.gif

yeap, sometimes it's very hard to get the level that u want... furthermore u can't monitor the sound while recording... haha... but wut to do? hv to deal wif it also... XD

Yeah, anything beats the crappy built in mic  laugh.gif I guess we're different then, you're focusing on videography and I'm focusing on photography  laugh.gif

I've read that quite a lot of people use juicedlink as a preamp for their 5D2/7D/etc on other forums la, not sure how good is it though.

That's the thing I don't like when I'm recording videos. Only thing I can do is to either get an external preamp or use those Zoom recorders and the sync it in post.
*
yeah, man... i'm more to a video guy...

i will check out the preamp then... really interested... for me, a video with bad sound quality i really kenot tahan...

im choosing in between 5MDH and 6MDH... i dun like big bag.. 7MDH is too big for me, but i've never seen 6MDH in real life... 5MDH's size is nice, but i'm just worried kenot fit everything...

i have a 60D+18-200mm and 50mm so far... perhaps gonna get a flashgun... other lenses not sure yet... do u think 5MDH can do the job, or to be save, get 6MDH?

i saw some Crumpler OEM quite cheap... dunno it's a fake or what...

btw, i'm looking for screen protector for 60D... seems very hard to find tho... any recommendation?

There is no Crumpler OEM, most likely it is fake... sweat.gif

Errm, for long term I would suggest you to get a backpack. smile.gif
My sling bag can only use for about 2 hours else, my shoulder gonna break into pieces. tongue.gif
But I find it rather convenient to carry a sling bag la. tongue.gif
Still I wanna get a proper pouch or belt system. hmm.gif
*
oh crap! luckily i havent bought... cuz i thought OEM is like ori stuff but diff factory or something... means it's still fake?

i'm a backpack guy... but backpack is way too over for my gear la...
i saw all the backpacks for camera oso with alot of compartments... i dun need that much... datz the thing...

unless there is a backpack that doesnt look like a camera backpack, not so big compartments for camera stuff... can fit laptop and got plenty more space for other stuff...

QUOTE(pengster @ Nov 9 2010, 12:11 AM)
Yah, viking has been using that since forever laugh.gif
The 5MDH would be able to fit your current gears. At most you can add a flash before you run out of space with the 5MDH. So if you're planning to get more lenses in the future then maybe the 6MDH is a better bet. smile.gif

And usually those cheap Crumplers are fake  laugh.gif  Except the OEM Crumpler + Canon EOS 5MDH la.
*
hmm... the OEM 6MDH only about rm180... but i wonder how's the quality... it looks very nice...

stupid la china... what oso got fake...

You might not need it now. But as time goes on, you'll have more stuff to bring, and the need for a larger bag increases.
Hmmm, I've a Kata Sensitivity V backpack, really small and can fit laptop + DSLR(500D + 50mm + 17-40 + Flash). Not much space left after though.
*
is Kata backpack reliable?

i saw Kata DR-466i and Kata Dr-467i, which can fit laptop as well... and the price is kinda cheap...
i might be getting that... cuz im really a backpack guy... i go everywhere with my backpack, but if a bag specially for camera only, i'm not that interested...
at least these come with laptop compartment...

i might be getting 5MDH as well... cuz it's really a small sling bag... i dun like big sling...

Kata backpacks are very good. I own two myself - they've never let me down. I'd particularly recommend the R-103 but it's quite costly.

I'm not really a backpack kind of person though, so I much prefer my Lowepro Stealth Reporter or Rezo unless I'm going on a long trip.
*
i dun wan spend so much on a backpack... since i have tons of it and im not really gonna bring my camera everywhere...

i duno these models okay anot... wut do u think?

Just asking,i'm currently looking at 5MDH @RM169.Any other recommended backpacks/slingbags for under RM300?Better if there's a notebook compartment as well smile.gif

And i dunno which one to choose- Slingbag or Backpack. I think i would prefer the more "casual" look of a slingbag, but a backpack will be more confortable than the slingbag due to the better weight distribution rclxub.gif
*
i oso need to tumpang u for this question... tongue.gif

QUOTE(cvshi515 @ Nov 11 2010, 06:16 PM)
If you are going to carry your camera gears (extra lenses, flash, and batteries... lots of batteries) with you all time... a backpack is recommended. If you only carry your camera with you for leisure photoshooting, a slingbags will do.

Beside, Im using kata 466i, can fit a 14" laptop  thumbup.gif
*
can u give some feedbacks on the kata 466i?
i'm planning to get a kata 467i... it seems nice...
