Haha yeah, I also cannot tahan bad sound quality, that's why I got an external mic, just to improve the SQ a little bit. Still got long way to go to make it perfect though  laugh.gif
It's a very good lens, some even say the image quality is comparable with the 17-55 F2.8 IS USM. Covers a very useful range of 24-135mm. Only downside that it's quite expensive.

Guys,

Since its so difficult to find a shops that sells the Sigma 30mm here, I've found an online retailer.

http://www.tincheungcamera.com.hk/product/555

Any comments if i were to buy from this online shop?

Warranty wise, is it 1-yr international coverage? Can I send to local distributor when it comes to warranty claim?

I've read about the inconsistency in Sigma's QC, especially bad focusing. Any idea if Sigma's local distributor will help to calibrate the lens if I were to purchase from TinCheung?

Wow! Very "Cold Door" lens leh, if you want a gauge of selling price in HK try here:

I bought my lens from Tin Cheung camera. Basically I am staying at Kowloon side where all the camera shop is near my hotel. The price vary at every shop. So you have to go ask every shop. Sometimes you visit the shop, they tell you price A. After 2 hours you come back wanting to buy at price A, they give you price B. I don't know why but it is a trend here. laugh.gif

Because they are smart and they know you have been asking around for prices, if they see you coming back to buy from them, they know they are the cheapest after your own survey. If you don't buy during your 2nd visit and go to the next shop, the next shop will do the same (i.e. raise the previous price they quoted you) since they also know that you have been shopping around. The trick is to go for big chain with lots of sales and ask a different sales to quote you... wink.gif

The other way is to ask them for a written quote so that they will honour it, if they are honest, they will give you a written quote. But the best thing is to survey prices online first before you go attack them, they can be very LCLY at times. The other thing to remember is the price difference between original set and grey set, make sure you know the price differences between the two...

Well, there are 2 types of shops here. One is those where you swipe CC and only they bring the lens and the other is bring lens then only pay. You don't have to ask them for a written quote. Just remember the price and compare. Tell you the truth, those big name shop sell at cheaper prices compared to those pay first then only bring lens shop(con man shop.) Here they will sell you all HK set. I have not come across grey set. Since in HK there is no more international warranty, it is known as grey set if you bring back to Malaysia. I normally don't worry much about warranty as hardly any canon lens will die within a year. smile.gif

I still prefer HK original set even though as you said, once you are back in Malaysia it will be considered as grey set anyway. The reason being, there are cases in HK where lightly used set are sold as new grey set to be on the safe side I rather go for original set.

Yes, those big chains (DSC, 白老匯, 鐳射) can be very competitive in terms of pricing...
