32GB *IS* not enough. A mobile computer needs at least 64GB (so I can shove a 64GB card in there and have 128GB in my pocket woohooo), a need I hope the N9 delivers on.
BTW, have you guys seen the new Android Netfront Browser in action? Seemless rotation is... damn.

Ah, root xterm shortcut. I do it the Winblowz way: /usr/bin/osso-xterm "sudo gainroot"
Ugly hack, ainnit?
This is why I love *nix. so many way to do something lol.
Hey, talking about h-e-n, I plan to create a Totally Awesome Installer for it. Maybe I'll call it, you know, h-e-n-T-A-I.
Wait until you see it in the repos. While you're at it you can use FAPman to install h-e-n-T-A-I. Ha, ha.
Ugh, I have resorted to pre-writing my posts in leafpad to circumvent the Tear freezes. We need a new Diablo version that fixes this pronto!

QUOTE(solsekuin44 @ Nov 18 2010, 09:45 PM) Guys, can help me with this? Where do all the games and apps installed in my phone? Are they installed at the installable memory (2GB)? Is there any way that I can have them moved or re-install to another partition (other than the 2GB memory)? Sorry if my query is confusing Not really, unless you repartition your eMMC for a bigger ext2 appilaction memory partition. And it's non-removable/movable too, unless your app specifically calls for data files installed user definable paths (the Jagged Alliance 2 game / GemRB does this). IINM anyway. And chemistry, eh... That's heavy lol. This post has been edited by Eiraku: Nov 18 2010, 11:05 PM

@solse: Install paths are hardcoded, unless made clear otherwise. in other words, there is no real easy way to force installations into whatever folders you would like (other then symlinking, but that brings other problems later).
So, as put by DiskUsage:
1) rootfs / root - all important system files and CORE application files go here - because it's faster then 2 and 3, thus it is considered premium real estate. Free space here is needed by the system, fill it up and watch your N900 go ballistic.
2) Application Memory - other files for installed software go here. App libraries or databases.
3) MyDocs / eMMC - as the name suggests, for your own media and stuff. Some apps with huge files sometimes allows certain humungous files to be installed here, but it's actually NOT formatted in a way that Linux can fully take advantage of, so it's primarily for Media.
It's POSSIBLE to repartition (re-organise) the three to whatever sizes you require, but it isn't advisable unless you're a Linux long-timer who knows exactly what you're doing.
Also, like windows, there IS some order in the directories. App files go into /usr/bin/; libraries go to /usr/libs/; files used by multiple apps go to /usr/share/; et cetera, et cetera.
I guess it's just the Linux way of doing things. It CAN be changed, but changing it will NOT be a walk in the park.
IINM anyway.

@solse: Learn, learn all the xterm commands you can to the point that you need to cut and paste almost nothing. Even I forget how to use xterm properly sometimes, and resort to ugly, ugly hack commands - but that's the beauty of xterm really, it's just so flexible.
Just a tip, "Tab" autocompletes xterm entries. For instance, press "Tab" after typing "cd /usr/share/app" will autocomplete it to "cd /usr/share/applications".
A good reason why you wanna edit your keyboard settings (xmodmap) to include Tab (and pipe and tlide - but that's a different story).
@Aspire: Not ONLY is she a girl, she's eager to learn lol. So we eager to teach lorh.

@SEA: I just got my 16GB Kingston class 4 (which, admittedly, I had to buy anyway for the miniSD adaptor) AND just splurged money on Space Hulk: Death Angel + Card Sleeves (like, an hour ago) - now only you wanna do Class 10 bulk.
Now I is having no monies, so I emo lar like this.
Spotted a fellow Maemoian with an N900 over at SS15 this afternoon, at mamak near Pizza Hut. Anybody from here?

@BuLaNaR: Don't worry, I don't think anybody's FULLY utilized their N900 yet. I mean, by my calculations a well coded AI can actually live in there lol.
On second thought, better nobody try. I wouldn't like to be remembered as the guy who 'suggested' the beginning of the AI uprising and subsequent human enslavement.

QUOTE(jananan @ Nov 21 2010, 07:12 PM) my whole computer is full of .sis files and .sisx and then .deb files and now filling up with .apk files... its a mess. My computer is lidat, my N810 is too, plus a whole mess of tarballs. Semak like crazy. About HP7 my bro (avid HP fan) ranted about how HP has been butchered after watching it. He didn't specify how but from your explaination, I can guess somewhat.

Hmm, you mean rootfs = a lot of space, application memory = full? Or the other way around? The app memory partition is the 2gb partition btw.

QUOTE(zhlly4eae @ Nov 22 2010, 02:54 AM) then i cant install more webos games or other stuff after no more partition space? jananan posted a way to install webos games to MyDocs (rather then the app ppartition) a few posts back... Or maybe I saw it on TMO, not sure. Anyways, go check. Hmmm, I now feel like modding a dpad/trackpad on the face of the N810, so much wasted space lor on the front bazel, I wonder if the parts for a dpad/small trackpad can fit in there. Re-wiring will be a total pain though. Either that or coming up with a smooth level bazel ala the N900 (the N810 has an edged touchscreen like the 5800). But actually having to fabricate new parts is ugh really.

QUOTE(zhlly4eae @ Nov 22 2010, 03:20 AM) it's complicated to do it, i also don't even understand what they says.. haiz... they did the deb files for d game easy but using the space... Well, someone should pack up debs for MyDocs install pretty soon, just wait. Or you can personally ask the other sifus for help to explain. As for me, my N810 and it's puny 400mhz processor even stutters playing videos larger then 480x272 - so even thinking of trying preenv is pure madness lol.

@jananan: I'd rather not have the ability to OC the N810. For obvious reasons lol.
Now busy hacking out things I don't need. Tempted to delete the contacts and chat app to free rootfs lol.

QUOTE(gyianz @ Nov 22 2010, 07:16 PM) i think it says that, when you're locking ur phone (aka black screen mode) It reduces the OC speed to 550 cause you're not using that much memory when locking ur phone So you're not heating up ur phone Automatic OC profile switching via dbus and input from the tempo sensor has been possible since... well, since my N900 was alive lol. I tried it, switched back because it was rendering my system unresponsive to calls. All the how-tos are on the TMO Overclocking wiki. Don't people read that anymore? Sigh.
