my bike mileage currently 2700. attempting to go for the second service. first service change engine lubiricant oil and oil filter. second time service doesn't need to change the oil filter yet. One of yamaha parts and accesories worker tell me that first time no need to change oil filter. then I'm like, WHAT?? or is it I heard wrongly?
*
I've just checked the service manual. Here goes:
QUOTE
For LC, the service interval is 1, 6, 12, 18, 24 thousand km... which means service every 6000 km.
For oil filter, change at 1, 12, 24 thousand km, and following every 12000 km.
For EO, recommended is 20W-40 Grade SF or better.
For air filter, clean on the 6000 km, change after the next 6000 km.
Fork oil, use 10W.

I went to compare the two at Maxxis cubprix booth, I think the M6002 is more tacky... the MA-3D feels more like sponge. Not sure if this is just the new tire wax thing.

Perhaps the ones who using the tire can comment.

@anbusan: 2 coats means 2 layers of the paint color that you use. I'm not paint expert, but I think there's primer also, if you want, and the top coat lacquer that will make the rim shine. For me, I'll just use the color. tongue.gif

Got my Amsoil from Charge today.
It's good for use of up to 20,000 miles, or 1 year, whichever comes first.
I'm gonna put this in my RGV, for one year, and see...

http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/mcv.aspx

However, because of the ability of this oil to clean the engine, changing to Amsoil may have some side effects. Fingers crossed.

that's just what I've read:
- service interval for EO means only need to change every 20,000 km, or once every year, whichever reach first.
- the side effect, will 'kena' the older engines because it has cleaning effect... if engine still new, won't have the side effect.

I want to order Amsoil for car and motorbike. Any Penang folks wana bulk order together? Amsoil 10W-40 motorcycle is about RM52. Market price is RM65+. It performs even better than Rock oil or Motul 300V from reviews. Interested please PM me.

Taukeh sini... PM sama dia.

Zelk: you're getting yours when?

o0o0.. juz read it..
about the amsoil filter??
izzit necessary to use amsoil filter too?
*
Don't know if can find that here, but minimum must use good filter loh - RM10 only.
Follow the original oil filter service... once a year or every 12000km.
If you worried, just change every 6000km also can.
Filter is also important. If planning to spend RM50+ on EO, should look for good filter also.

Hi guys, anyone of you guys know where to buy & the price of NGK IRRIDIUM IX Spark Plug & NGK Racing Cable (Spark Plug Cable) ?  blush.gif

For plug, since stock is using CPR8EA-9 (RM5~6), ask for CPR8EIX at about RM55.
But, there's news that NGK Iridium don't have CPR8EIX, only have CR8EIX... "P" for Projected Tip.
So, missing the projected tip is a NO-NO.

The next best option, is NGK G-Power Platinum, CPR8EGP at RM12.

Guys, got any shop to recommend at Penang that does Potong motor kepala one? Don't know exactly where can I find ...
*
I'm guessing you're not referring to "hukuman pancung kepala".

About Head skimming, almost every shop knows where to send a block to skim.
- New Bee Hock is one.
- There's a shop, going from Sunshine Bayan Baru, towards Kpg Jawa, on the left side of the road there is one sign board saying "Bakar Kaki Tiga" one... can ask the boss.

Let's chat a bit, what's your next mod?
For me:
- upgrade rims and fork service.
- headlight reflector... my current one sucks, light flying everywhere.
- change steering bearing from balls to tapered roller type.
- RGV overhaul... main bearings, seal, gasket etc...

UPDATE: Changed rims to RB8 1.6R+1.85R, RM200 incl tubeless valve.
Note: The inexperience foreman changed the bearing by hammering it at the center ring. Once the rim is placed onto the bike, the bearing jammed. Got a new set for free, installed by a more experience fella.

That boss and BH have the same sifu. Last time I sent the cylinder head to him to skim, but it caused the water leakage problem a few months before (the skim isn't flat). BH helped me re-skim and till now everything is fine. but i would say his bakar kaki tiga is damn pro, even BH oso send the kaki tiga to him to fix.
*
You mean they send the head skimming to be done elsewhere?
What's bakar kaki tiga? That's the front fork T-clamp?

I found some forums, RB8 is between RM180-190, not sure including workmanship or not.
I get the disc+drum set, not including bearing, used back current ones since <2 months only. Good thing the worker spoiled it for me, so I get a new replacement.

Story of my midnight carb cleaning...
QUOTE
Yesterday morning when leaving for work, my bike was leaking oil onto the floor, it smelt like petrol and was leaking from the carburator, down the front sprocket hole (engine case has a overflow hole through front sprocket) bringing along some grease, oil and dirt. biggrin.gif

Tu-lan (Hokkien, for 'pissed'), last night I took the carb out to clean, found out the choke was rusty, the pilot jet and mainjet were clogged from petrol varnish, fuel valve leaking causing petrol to overflow...

Took everything apart and rendam with 'secret' cleaner for couple of minutes.
While doing so, the blue liquid reacted with the varnish, creating bubbles and eventually insoluble salts that sink to the bottom of the fluid. Once done, the whole carb was shining like new, like the Mikuni carbs in display at motorshops.

Testing the carb, found some fuel passage still clogged with rust and varnish, washed some more and sprayed it with WD40.
Result: This morning the bike started with one-kick...

Using the racing footrest, if you wanna use sidestand, need to saw off the footpeg of your original one... I think there's a lot ppl throw it away.

I suggest to some of you using LC SS footrest, can go to those bike shop and swap with those owners who are about to saw of the ES footrest...

@Spayz: Budget leh? Pirelli loh... In your case, get a racing compound lah... Duro or Maxxis. Swallow also got... quite recommended in Indonesia.

Talking about tyres, today I saw an FKR that has tread of BT090 - the one they use on rear tires of cubprix bikes.
