std engine overhaul at 30,000km. after modi, 10,000km needs overhaul just to check, maybe no parts change needed. Before you know it, already spending enough money to buy a used RS250.

Read in a forum just now. they said mps not so good especially on wet road. then might consider pirelli. have a good review in the forum. any idea where can find pirelli in penang?
*
Glad you share. Got link to that forum page? It's what you paid for. MPS is ~RM100 and the bunga is semi slick. Wet/Dry traction is factory rated at 6/10... pandai pandai lah.
Not sure which Pirelli they talking about? MT75? I haven't tried looking in Penang. Want to know more about review from that forum you spoke of.

here is the link bro --> http://malaysianbikers.com.my/forum/index.php?topic=74413.0
the writer even note that mps should be avoided

if not mistaken they are talking about MT75..based on the link given smallest 90/80/17 for front and 100/80/17 for rear..
on my way back drop by at a workshop and ask the mech about tyre..he recommend me duro racing compound series..RM125 for 90/80 (if heard correctly biggrin.gif )..ask about pirelli he can order if really keen..
*
Wah, Pirelli ranked higher than BT39SS. Any idea how much the price? Surprise me with <RM200 and I'll sure to get it.

I've not really tried out the MPS since I got it - blame it on myself coz no time to setup the bike, compared to my previous one which had TT9 front and Battlax on the rear, I could lean and drift, but not since using diffrent bike and switched to MPS.

For a fact, MPS is a budget tire. Michelin score it as follows:
Wet/Dry grip, Durability and Comfort - 6 out of 10
Agility - 7 out of 10
Budget - 9 out of 10

Of course, it is better than OEM tires. More than enough for daily ride.
However, for the round tire carcass, I do not expect the grip to be superb. If compared, I'd have more confidence on TT9. Too bad TT9 has bad wet grip, and develops bumps and cracks halfway through its lifetime - not a reliable tire. Btw, I saw a TT9 with new bunga in town, that doesn't have the center groove one... kinda looks like FDR - tauke tried to sell me 90/80 for RM80.

If I have to put my money on the next tire, it'll be racing compound with good bunga: Maxxis, Swallow, Michiyama, Duro, Shinko... Give the tires a good rub to test the compound, check the manufacturing date and make up my mind. These tires are priced reasonably around MPS.
If kena lottery, BT39SS, BT010, or perhaps Pirelli Sports Demon.

I have just fitted a set of Farrelli tires on my small bike... will let you guys know how that tire perform. These tires cost me RM60 a piece, 70/90 & 80/90 - stock size. tongue.gif

Need to know how to do some inspection, then can probably guess if there is any problem. The spark plug tip color can tell if too much or too little petrol, caused by carb jetting... for senggukX2, sometimes caused by lean AF mixture, or use bigger carb and the throttle open too big suddenly. Or it can be battery problem, CDI, plug cable, air leak, petrol masuk air, air filter blocked etc etc...

I would think CDI match with cam mod better... and with that, tune carb, open pod, foam filter element and open pod exhaust; while using stock block and piston, change to hi-rpm bearings too. I'll call it LC135-EX. biggrin.gif

Not forgetting Singh Groove too. I see, I read about honeycomb valve springs, got such thing for LC?

@Zelk: Got p@wn the mod EX5 boh?
@Aaron: Your bike FC how?
@Spayz: Pirelli or Battlax now?

Added on November 19, 2010, 10:51 pm@Charge: While inspecting for leak, when checking the exhaust manifold, was the inner surface coated with tar or just carbon? Do you plan to do singh groove on ur kar? This should eliminate all traces of carbon, right?

I just change mine after 35k mileage hehe change the fork oil every 25K is better I think because fork oil gets hot when we ride our bike, the heat will break down the oil and making your bikes forks work less efficiently for suspension and braking.
*
Oil is one thing, then there's fork seal also need to change.

Chain and sprocket need cleaning and lube, once every 500km.
For chain life, if the clean and lube is done right, then no need to change for a very very long time.

Check the sprocket, like Aaron said.
Check the chain also, by touching the rollers to make sure they are rolling fine, but not loose.

haha.. this one izzit..? a bit crazy wan.. but it is possible.. i watch it in national graphic last year or 2 years ago.. using recycle oil as EO.. recycle oil as in from restaurant.. they took it.. then they filter all the sendiment... then through some process.. they use it in a ice cream van.. and it can move.. biggrin.gif
*
I think that show is about bio-diesel. The restaurant oil they take is used as petrol for bio-diesel engine, not EO.

I've read that forum, thanks for the link.
We use formulated EO to protect from oxidation and more stable oil property throughout the lifetime.
It's like paying for some sort of guarantee.

Vege oil works just as well, but for a shorter lifetime before it oxides and breaksdown to smaller molecule. Remember plant oil is not hydrocarbon, but triglycerides... a different animal.
When this happens, the oil cannot protect engine liao coz the film strength is low. I think it is worth trying, at the cost of a full overhaul. IF the bike already long mileage liao sure can try, just buy some aftermarket additive like antioxidant etc and mix it ourself. smile.gif

i find to hard to start my bike this morning.. need to pull the choke n rev a bit.. n this is not the first time my bike hard to start, before this at mamak when i just left my bike around 2hours only.. any idea what went wrong? spark plug or battery? i have an alarm that i on when i'm going to sleep, does this alarm might be the problem that my battery kong?
*
It's normal. My bike when cold cannot even run properly, engine will stall and die off. But once warmed up, hehe...
Try pull up the choke, start it and don't pull throttle. The engine will run at higher RPM and warm up itself.

my family test ride my LC they say they feel very unstable .. maybe because of the fork too high??
*
Normal. Maybe coz of psycological effect.
1. Becoz the seat is new, they seat to passenger contact is less, makes it feel 'less secure'. Try change your EX5 cushion to new and let them test ride, they probably say the same thing. Can probably skim the seat make it flatter.
2. It is normal to be afraid of height. Taller doesn't mean less stable. Look at BMW or KTM supermoto. Some riders can barely reach the ground with their feet while riding those bikes.

QUOTE(lautuckwa @ Nov 23 2010, 02:04 PM)
fork stabilizer... actually wat can it do ???..
*
1. Cosmetics. biggrin.gif I personally don't think that fork stabilizer works. Unless if someday, someone do cornering and cracked the mudguard because the forks bent... then I believe. biggrin.gif
2. I know some of you will curse me behind liao. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(fredericktke @ Nov 23 2010, 05:14 PM)
Just now on the way back from college at Gelugor road over there, after traffic light turn to green , then I start go. Later got one FX125 rider and LC rider with X1R cover, rocket. 7 seconds onwards, the FX125 become like ants already. Rupanya FX125 is a super legendary machine kapchai! Good thing if last time I have the money to buy one. I heard that is cost about RM6000 ++ last time when I was a child.
*
1. Yes. DOHC engine, but too bad it's oil cooled engine - a bit old tech. Stock engine already max HP at 8.5k RPM... drag machine already.
2. I met a mechanic who told me, before LC came out, there was a time when FX125 was dirt cheap at RM6~700 ringgit, also nobody want. Now LC come out, this King of Moped selling like hotcakes...
3. Again, I will kena curse behind for saying this... since LC is supposedly the K.O.M now. biggrin.gif
