Yup, the lack of keyboard LED backlight, num lock and caps lock indicators bugs me a little, especially when typing in the wrong password for a few times just because the locks are on and I don't know anything about it, although I personally don't care much about the bling effect though
By the way, the "Windows key" you mentioned, it is to prevent you from accidentally pressing the Start Menu button while gaming. |

QUOTE(smartleader @ Mar 8 2011, 01:27 PM) Great spec with great price there for GX660, my Acer 5943G with a slighly lower spec cost me a bomb half year before this. Unfortunately I bought it online though, which means I'm going to have quite a bit of trouble when it comes to warranty... But other than the fact that I need to change the US plug head to a UK plug head, it is definitely a buy I would recommend. |

QUOTE(JustForFun @ Mar 9 2011, 08:08 PM) MSI GX640 is selling for 3.7K? As they said earlier, Courts. Is it using Sandybridge? 2630QM with ATI HD5850? Is the warranty international? Where to buy it? Well, unfortunately, GX640 is 2 generations older than the current GT680 sandy bridge line, it only uses a core i5. But yes, it still equipped with HD5850. |

GT780 looks dam sleek. They opted for a more streamlined design and more solid-feeling chassis, while retaining the key design elements of the MSI GX/GT series.
Have to ask though, why is the demo set using a lower tier GT555M card though? Thought they would outfit a card of the same tier as the previous generation in it, such as the GT560M. |

Just asking, did you install the Window 7 Service Pack 1 update? It's known to introduce some BSODs according to online sources.

QUOTE(viruz019 @ Apr 8 2011, 12:13 PM) Yeah, the results tend to very on one PC to another. Some didn't experience problems at all, others start getting BSODs like one of my friends did.I'm holding off the update until I see a stable version released, hopefully this May or June. |

QUOTE(faezfahmi618 @ Apr 20 2011, 02:00 PM) Well, according to notebookcheck.com benchmarks so far, its performance is supposed to be on par with Mobility Radeon 5870, so I think it wouldn't be outperforming even 6950M, let alone a GTX 485M.Steelseries is generally known for its build quality in gaming peripherals. |

Steelseries backlit keyboard + Dynaudio speakers
I wonder whats the difference between this and GT780 though, they seem to be using the same specs and design as far as I know. |

Thanks for the guide
Also, just asking, will it void the warranty if I take it apart? Because I am thinking of switching the stock thermal paste to my CM ThermalFusion 400, since the laptop can turn quite hot if I don't turn on the "jet engine" fan. This post has been edited by Spiritviper: May 3 2011, 10:17 PM |

QUOTE(viruz019 @ May 3 2011, 10:21 PM) ok, regarding voiding warranty..based on my knowledge along with gentech..warranty will not be voided as we noe it is a gaming laptop..but if we change the parts..then i have no idea..if it's for cleaning and changing thermal paste shud be alright..beside..there's no sticker on the laptop that says "warranty void if open" Nah, too bad, can't make it. anyway, are u going to the MSI event? No thanks to my exam schedule. |

Well, I know that most MSI desktop motherboards do have them. Dell and Asus laptops have them too. Not sure why MSI doesn't put them in their laptops though. Not does it seem to matter much anyways |

They have promotional guys coming all the way from Taiwan? Wow.
Seems like a pretty large scale gathering from the pictures, lots of people too. Wish I could make it then GT780 looks sick by the way. Any chance that you have more pictures of it...? |

QUOTE(kirakun @ May 22 2011, 12:38 AM) Mine's the asian version of gx660 which comes with the standard screen resolution of 720p instead of 1080p. Price range at around 9k HKD. 9k HKD? Just wondering though, is yours the version with the i5-450M or the i7-740QM? |

QUOTE(kirakun @ May 22 2011, 10:05 PM) Mine's the Asia version which comes with i5-450m, standard resolution of 720p and etc. I don't think it is of better deal but i did get some freebies of a msi notebook messenger bag and a msi wireless laser mouse plus cheaper upgrade, top up of 380hkd for 2 pieces of ddr3 1333mhz 4 gig ram. Still a great deal, considering all the freebies you got |
