The mess it leaves behind is relatively easy to clean with rubbing alcohol or use those iKlear sprays(which I use for Apple gadgets).


Laptops are not like cars in which you can just test drive and return it. Although we can go to the shops and watch or use it marginally while its on display you never get the clear picture.

We live and die financially by the decisions we make since these are RM2k minimum purchases. Reviews and user impressions are the only avenues for us to find out whether any sort of laptop meets our needs or not.

I think you tend to notice these things when you put more attention to it. But personally I can't hear the CPU whine, but maybe because it's at a frequency that's outside of my hearing range.

What can I say? I'm an old man.

From my experience buyer's remorse works differently when you purchase a premium priced product. Let's say for example an iMac 27", you try to find small things(or just clutch straws) to justify the cost when comparing to a similar yet much lower priced hardware.

Funny sometimes how the consumer mind works, it's flimsy because it is cheap, yet when it's flimsy but expensive you try to justify that it was designed that way.

The DELL budget IPS(S series) are good options, they have a sleek design(although not bezel-less as it appears to be). Very light as well, I've got two at my office.

I'm considering the same setup you just posted as well, only that I'll put the mechanical drive(storage) in the ODD bay. I'd prefer the SSD as the permanent fixture in the laptop.

I guess that makes me one then, because I did change my HDD so I'm still covered by warranty even if I did remove the back cover.

Joking aside, I've played a few sessions of BF3 in Multiplayer just now on the laptop, not as butter smooth as my desktop but not bad. I'm getting 25-50fps on High settings in multiplayer(observed with MSI AB), in Campaign though everything is smooth maxed out, apart from a few instances where there's explosions and lots of dust particle effects.

How are you guys faring multiplayer gaming-wise? I know the GPU and CPU is more than enough to handle offline games but I'm sure multiplayer gaming stresses out the CPU a lot more.
