official yes, but there are hybrid ones that fix a lot more things IMO.
------

don't you just love BB fanatics biggrin.gif

someone pointed out the message truncated due to size FEATURE since 2004 (earlier if I can recall), and they say that we're not USING technology. or the phone wasn't intended to do emails (?????) and PDF - uuuh, work stuff?. when i point out the corporate fee that I pay monthly since i was claimed to smoke weed for paying that, saying he desn't care pulak. doh.gif

when i said i (tried to) used it for so many things and it doesn't work, i was told to.... erm.... "use the tech to it's fullest".... which means... don't use it to much?? i am as hardcore bb user as it can be, and YOU wanna tell me that it can't do this and that? understand the meaning of a platinum bb user first, kiddo tongue.gif

IT'S A THREAD ABOUT TORCH. PEOPLE CAN COMPLAIN AND BE A FANATIC TO IT IF THEY WANT. just because you glorify your phone to the death, doesn't mean that the complaints are invalid.
good luck doing that when you have buyers from the other side of the world. or ship captains.
as for me, I just auto-forward the mail to gmail, and made a cheapo-fix menu plugin to view the email in gmail. not the simplest and elegant fix, but that'll do.
*
Sorry I cannot resist myself but just lol at the word 'platinum' user, and simply calling some one kids. I've seen this far too many time across the internet especially in gaming forums. They will start by saying they're some 'high level' programmer, engineer, or even president of US and talking like their point is absolute (don't worry yours is not). Lastly, they end with the word 'kid'.

On a more serious side, I just simply hate it when some one don't have more valid argument they going with personal attack. hyperyouth_firepower is, at least, helping people with problem here. You can rant and give your personal opinion, and I respect that. notworthy.gif

PS: I'm not BB fanatic, you hardly see me reply here. Also I believe I'm younger than you, and you can call me kid anytime.

Yup, you are definitely younger since you "laugh" at the idea of a platinum bb user. we were the pioneers in bringing and testing BB during the early years in M'sia.

Laugh all you want, but for a so-called business phone that can't even include a noise-cancelling earphone in the set, they're digging their own grave. and judging by the recent market announcement, fanbois should start looking elsewhere biggrin.gif

why my BB battery run out so fast?
what brand can i get better battery..for longer duration with BIS 24hour/day??? to suit my busy lifestyle i need a longer and good power battery..thanks for sharing the info guys
*
Because the "more advanced" torch BB has smaller shittier battery. If you wanna last a whole day, expect buying three ORIGINAL batteries or a 2000+ mAh Energizer portable charger. Only energizer, since those noname battery brands lie when they say 1500mAh or 1800 mAh. Most are just half of the claimed capacity, so beware!

Torch uses 1250mAh or something like that. Same hardware like Bold 2, but bigger screen, and smaller battery. Cool device doh.gif and they want me to try out torch 2 pulak. i told them "no thanks celcom i'm moving elsewhere" tongue.gif

Bold 3 is a pretty solid device. If you don't mind having the lack of touchscreen, by all means gun for it. Contrary to perceptions, things on a Bold3 is pretty nice and tight, not too compact, reduces the need to put the phone sideways for the extra "space".

Screen wise its no smaller (when it comes to viewing) than of the 9800, in fact you would realize there's more icons in a 9780 because the icons are smaller, but fairly better if you ask me.

Batt life is no different than of your 9800, but expect it to be more reliable with the newer builds (afaik, forumers and users are pointing at longer battery life and responsiveness in handling multiple apps) and it should be better as we edge closer to OS7 (note, OS7 is not for our current generation of BB phones)

Best is try and bluetooth some files like songs, videos and then test them by playing them out in the bold's test unit. You can see the comparison directly with your Torch unit.

Have fun, and consider wisely! I would think its better to save up on the newer generation of BlackBerry phones!

having something cool is one thing, but having something that works to your spec is also equivalently important.

Some people like us would fret that we won't get OS7 and all that. Believe me. But the idea of a playbook as an acquisition over the idea of having a newer blackberry phone isn't all that bad either. I mean, the PB can 'mirror' everything that is inside your phone, its 7" and its very portable. I don't see the 'need' for a hardware refresh, not in the next 2 years unless some Android goons are going to jumpstart on their own kin by offering a quad-core for their Android OS (which is crazy, if you ask me). After all, think of the PB as an extension to ANY BlackBerry Smartphones that you may own, be it new or old, or the 'ancient' generation.

But really, the choice is yours, and I'm sure it won't be a bad choice. smile.gif Just be really sure of what you want!

Hmmm. Do you have any alternative browser like opera mini?
Try to accesss appworld as well. What is the response? Can it connect from there? How about other web based apps?

Have you checked the APN settings and see if its linked to Celcom's APN?

As usual, the first sight of firmware comes from crackberry: http://crackberry.com/leaked-os-6-0-0-600-...erry-torch-9800

If you want it official-official, wait for a few weeks for another carrier to use it. If you want it Malaysia-official, I think you can skip this update. tongue.gif

I just received my Case Mate Barely There case which I bought from Ebay.
Cost me RM55 incl shipping from US (1 week of waiting).
It quite a nice case I must say so far (Hopefully I wont break the front part too soon tongue.gif).
I tried to find a case mate barely there for BB Torch here in KL but seems like none.
So I am quite happy with my purchase so far and It quite cheap too. smile.gif

Here are the pics of the case that I took:-
