Hey Guys, I am back, hey Mr Dicksonbell, the King of BB, i am back, hopefully you can remember me.

I am here to voice out my opinion, to those who like 9800 a lot, sorry i dont mean to offend.

I bought BB 9800 some where around end of last year, at that point of time, i was so hunger to get this phone, after a few months using it, i found that it is not so "good".

The battery life is way much shorter than what i expected. I use it as normal, mostly with calls, the battery drains probably around 4 to 5 pm.

When talking on the phone, my face tend to touch the screen of the phone, it always touches the menu on the screen, it mutes the calls. Maybe my face is very big !!! For those who have small face, then you might not facing such a problem!

The reception is weak. My friends who carry 9700 have no problem at all but mine always facing the receptions problem.

Maybe because of the touch screen, it slows down the processes. It hangs some times especially when calls coming in.

I think these are the main complaint that i have on 9800.

I am currently looking at 9780, might get one due to the good comment!
9900 seems very good, but i think it will not arrive at Malaysia so soon.

im using bb torch, and used many many generations of bb before this and i can honestly say that AVOID BB AT ALL COSTS. seriously old piece of crap, pay so much for basically a chat service, slooooooooooow, hangs a lot, and really really poor battery life.

just to put it into perspective, bold 2 came out long before torch, but torch basically uses bold 2 hardware, but bigger screen (uses more processing), and smaller battery.

avoid! I'm getting rid of this as soon as the new batch of htc phones arrives.... or if i can't wait, samsung galaxy s 2. i bought my bini an incredible s, and it blew me away. tongue.gif

i'm just not prepared paying 200+ for blackberry corporate service that does nothing much. like wtf i cant send/receive files/emails of more than 3MB?! helloooooo it's 2011 not 2001!! doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif after one of the first few people who uses blackberry, and putting up with the crappy bugs they call FEATURES, i think it's time to say goodbye biggrin.gif who's with me! tongue.gif

I do have a bone to pick with your argment. Probably you should have seen this coming. A blackberry smartphone is not a perfect phone, but i fail to see how it is that bad of a phone?

You can go fix yourself with any phone, but just because a blackberry torch doesn't suit gou (in ways you did not even bother to elaborate) then you readily thrash this phone. Well, since you are so good at thrashing, then allow me to point out your flaws. Firstly, what bugs are features? Secondly, what weed did you smoke for you to pay rm200 for BIS? Lastly, what kind of  mails would you want to receive more than 5mb? There are other more efficient manners at transfering such files.

Go and enjoy your bloated data usage on your htc for all i care. At least i don't have to worry my phone revealing to the entire world where am i every 30 minutes even if i am in the loo and have my behavioural patternsdata-farmed/mined.

On top of my head, the memory leak since OS3 that is called memory cleaning "feature". The "feature" has gone from bad to worse, and them shifting to QNX is just too late in the mobile game. Oh and their incessant refusal to let you do voip/internet calls with your blackberry, saying it's a SECURITY feature. I've used them for far too long, even when beta testing skype to understand their incessant need to control everything on their server (surprise surprise, not that different than google!)
Secondly, my montly bill does reach 4 figures sometimes, as I am a corporate "platinum" customer. I am not like a kid who uses BB for BBM only, so it's not my problem if you fail to understand why corporations pay a lot for mobile usage when there's email and whatnot.
Lastly, try to imagine you, outside, trying to send a 6MB word contract to your buyer, or trying to receive an mp3 of a meeting by someone who doesn't know about encoding formats, or trying to send a powerpoint presentation to your people. or heck, try to send (or open from your phone!) a PDF/PNG that's a bit special than just text, all these things will result in either "message truncated due to size" or "cannot display this image" ?

Why don't you go and tell me why the refusal to include a proper built-in PDF/image viewer instead of the email-pdf-to-yourself-and-open-it-from-there method? I've been waiting since OS3!

You like a phone, like BB? Great! More power to you! But don't mask it in all it's glory when it's not. The corporate features are good... 3 years ago. Everybody else have moved on. whistling.gif

official yes, but there are hybrid ones that fix a lot more things IMO.
------

don't you just love BB fanatics biggrin.gif

someone pointed out the message truncated due to size FEATURE since 2004 (earlier if I can recall), and they say that we're not USING technology. or the phone wasn't intended to do emails (?????) and PDF - uuuh, work stuff?. when i point out the corporate fee that I pay monthly since i was claimed to smoke weed for paying that, saying he desn't care pulak. doh.gif

when i said i (tried to) used it for so many things and it doesn't work, i was told to.... erm.... "use the tech to it's fullest".... which means... don't use it to much?? i am as hardcore bb user as it can be, and YOU wanna tell me that it can't do this and that? understand the meaning of a platinum bb user first, kiddo tongue.gif

IT'S A THREAD ABOUT TORCH. PEOPLE CAN COMPLAIN AND BE A FANATIC TO IT IF THEY WANT. just because you glorify your phone to the death, doesn't mean that the complaints are invalid.

if you can't read the email due to the famous message, what's wrong with just replying back to the guy or calling them up?

good luck doing that when you have buyers from the other side of the world. or ship captains.
as for me, I just auto-forward the mail to gmail, and made a cheapo-fix menu plugin to view the email in gmail. not the simplest and elegant fix, but that'll do.

Yup, you are definitely younger since you "laugh" at the idea of a platinum bb user. we were the pioneers in bringing and testing BB during the early years in M'sia.

Laugh all you want, but for a so-called business phone that can't even include a noise-cancelling earphone in the set, they're digging their own grave. and judging by the recent market announcement, fanbois should start looking elsewhere biggrin.gif

why my BB battery run out so fast?
what brand can i get better battery..for longer duration with BIS 24hour/day??? to suit my busy lifestyle i need a longer and good power battery..thanks for sharing the info guys

Because the "more advanced" torch BB has smaller shittier battery. If you wanna last a whole day, expect buying three ORIGINAL batteries or a 2000+ mAh Energizer portable charger. Only energizer, since those noname battery brands lie when they say 1500mAh or 1800 mAh. Most are just half of the claimed capacity, so beware!

Torch uses 1250mAh or something like that. Same hardware like Bold 2, but bigger screen, and smaller battery. Cool device doh.gif and they want me to try out torch 2 pulak. i told them "no thanks celcom i'm moving elsewhere" tongue.gif
