I just got the 60" JS7200 for RM7400 before CNY, did color calibration from rtings and they are awesome imo: http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/j...tings?uxtv=f581
*
I have the 55" version and also tried the rtings settings for the JS7000. It doesn't look very good. Colours become very dull. Our JS7200 and the US JS7000 are not the same TV. JS7200 has a 100hz panel while the US version has a 60hz panel.

Furthermore the rtings set was a 55" Ips panel. Your 60" is definitely not an IPS, most likely a VA panel from Sharp.
Have you tested the side viewing? Does it lose colour drastically when you watch from the sides / at an angle?

Getting pq for the buck.

Shortlisted Sony 8000 or sharp ue630x both VA panels. Research shows that js is a IPS panel which I am  not too keen
Would the nano coat make the comparable?

Thanks for the response
*
Try out the JS7200 as well. The colours on the JS are much better due to the wide colour gamut (nano crystal thingy) and some basic HDR capability compared to Sony X8000 or Sharp UE630X. IPS or VA doesn't really matter as long as your eyes like it. I personally like the Sony X8500 (second to the 65" Oled of course) among all LCD panels. The contrast ratio is amazing and the colours are bright but it's a bit pricey compared to the rest.

Probably the 65" version of the same TV or the Sony 8500 series.

Unless I can find 70" below RM10k
*
Wow bro, buyers remorse? I think I am also having a bit of the same biggrin.gif Regret not waiting to save enough money to buy a 65" tv. Ideally I want an 80" tv but I think I have to wait a few years for the price to come down.

But realistically I would probably wait for the 65" EC970T to come down below 10k and grab that instead of getting another LCD. smile.gif

Newbie here i just bought without much research.. lol may i know the difference btw IPS and VA panels?

In that case how do you guys calibrate the TV screen? I couldn't find any settings in the web..
*
I will give you a brief explanation - IPS has better viewing angles and usually brighter but black levels are poor. VA panels have poor viewing angles but have good black levels which usually results in better contrast ratio (depends on the brightness level as well).

To calibrate properly you need to try the settings one by one and find what you like or you can call in a professional calibrator who can do it for you. What's nice for someone else may not be nice for you. I suggest you try out the movie mode and see if you like it. Then tweak the settings a bit under the movie mode to suit your eyes.
Avoid the dynamic mode - while it makes the picture "pop" with vivid colours it is not suitable for longer viewing.

got myself a JU6400 UHD TV few weeks back

managed to changed it's smarthub region recently, and downloaded Hulu

The app can run normally, can log into my Hulu account, can browse the content, but once I start playing any content, I only got a black screen after the initial ads
no sound, just black screen with the TV channel's logo, controls like fast forward, subs etc.. still working tho, it just won't play doh.gif

anyone encountered this b4? any solution? hmm.gif

btw, netflix is working perfectly tho, I'm using one of the smart DNS to bypass the region restriction.
*
I have the JS7200 which has the same smarthub as the JU6400 and Hulu works fine. I think you need to wait for the smarthub to update completely. After changing region, the TV takes a lot of time to update all the apps and remove the old region apps. Try leaving it on a few hours and then restart and try again.

reset few times already, still the same, will try diff DNS see how
using the free one right now tongue.gif
gonna try again tonight see see how
*
If the DNS is not working you will get "Hulu is not available outside the US" message. DNS is used for lookup of address only, so the DNS server is not used continously like VPN. I doubt this is the issue. It's most probably app related.

How is your TV by the way, do you like it?

loving it... as I upgraded from my 5 years old 720p plasma

you can see it's a huge difference there laugh.gif

hooked on watching full HD netflix every night already tongue.gif

didn't expect the UHD upscale to work so wonderful also thumbup.gif

Do you know if your TV is IPS or VA? When the screen is black with no pictures does it appear gray? I am looking for a 65" tv and might consider the JU6400.

My JS7200 has awesome colours and great pictures. But the gray screen is annoying as there is also some back light bleeed at one side. The light bleed is not so bad as other I have seen but its annoying to look at on a grey screen. Also, I want to get a larger size. Might move the 55" to my room.

no idea if it's IPS or VA, didn't notice greyish during black screen tho
maybe I wasn't paying attention tongue.gif

but still adjusting to the bright LED screen which is more eye straining tho
comparing to my old plasma, which is way more eye friendly

my astigmatism actually gotten worse with bright scenes with this new TV tongue.gif

Are you still using the "Dynamic" mode? You need to change it to Movie mode and try calibrating the TV with settings available online. Or if you want to keep it simple, then just try out the preset picture modes like Standard, Natural, etc.

The TV also has an auto brightness feature which works similar to the auto brightness in smartphones. You may want to try that to see if it works for you.

If the screen is straining your eyes, then it means that it's too bright for you.

all switched to Movie mode already, still tweaking with the settings that best suits me

Dynamic mode is simply too bright for me

Got auto brightness auto adjusting brightness according to room ambient lights? hmm.gif
didn't notice that, gonna dig thru the settings again
Btw, saw a review said the JU6400 series is using VA panel wink.gif
*
My JS7200 has it. I think the JU6400 should have it also.

That's great, confirmed VA panel then smile.gif

i wont say va panel view angle is rated as poor.
the weakness is contrast shift at certain angle & black crush in 90 degree middle
*
For a layman like me, compared to IPS it's obviously poor but some are worse than others.

1 thing I realised with IPS is that the grey screen looks bad. During normal movie the blacks appear deep and good. But when the screen is blank it shows grey which is kinda annoying.

lg ips is samsung pva own competitor. very less chance to happen. u can verify by swipe finger make a long trail on va panel.

*
Not sure what you mean here? Are you implying all IPS screens are made by LG and Samsung only makes PVA?

Samsung uses both VA & IPS (PLS) panel and they source the panels from multiple OEMs like AU Optoelectric, Chi Mei, Beijing Optoelectric, Chung Hwa and Sharp apart from their own panels.

Did you get the price from Mudah? Mudah is full of scammers advertising big TVs for cheap. They also do this for smartphones. When you call nobody will answer or the number will be invalid.

Pictures roughly the same but location elsewhere.  mad.gif

Scam in progress?  whistling.gif

I managed to contact one of the scammers via sms. They don't answer phone calls.
He advertised the TV in Selangor but via sms he told me that his location is Tawau Sabah. When I asked him to COD at Sabindo Plaza, Tawau he didn't reply my sms.

These are scams by Nigerians and Mudah is their playground. There is no TV for sale, just waiting for a victim to bite the bait. They also scam people selling their stuff on Mudah by providing fake bank transfer confirmations and asking the seller to show them proof of sending out the goods.

I do still buy and sell stuff on mudah. Just need to make sure that you go for cod or buy only from reputable sellers who also sell on other platforms. The scammers are a nuisance though.

Update: it seems that currently the Smart Hub server is down on my side. Doing TV reset, when it comes to TnC page, i got an error stating that my internet is not stable (dafuq?) Googling online, some UK users already reported the same prob. Anyone else in Malaysia facing this?
*
After changing region, you need to give it a couple of hours to reset all your apps and install the new region apps.
Why are you going through the TnC again if you have already reset the region?

I think I waited 2 days also and yet it didn't change.
on my case it usually doesn't take long for the new region apps to refresh. after resetting the Smart Hub, you'd be going to see the TnC again correct? that's what I did.
anyway, is the Smart Hub accessible now or not?
*
Smarhub was working fine for me last nite. Now at work cannot test. I saw the TnC while resetting. Change region complete the setup and then the smarthub will update.

Are you sure? I think that they are adding more apps insted of removing.
Samsung's Tizen has the biggest app selection among the TV manufacturers right now.

Android TV is made for TVs rather than the small screen. At the moment it is still relatively immature. But IMO it has a lot of potential compared to all the other OS which are proprietary.
