Disagree with Lampard and Essien providing creativity, they are not really creative players..But they certainly do miss them..Why didnt we go for Essien last time sad.gif

We made the offer too but Essien preferred Chelsea instead.

I only heard 2 quite similar stories, 1 is we rejected him when he was on trial with us at 17 because of his size that time. The other is that he couldnt get his work permit when he was on trial with us at 17. Didn't remember anything about us bidding for him around the time before his move to Chelsea, because I think he would have joined us since ManUtd is his favourite club. I might still be wrong though.

Don't know where the greedy part came from, think you've mistaken him with Mikel.

You should read more dude.

Don't compare Mikel even with Essien, that greedy bastard. Already signed the contract for United but went for Chelski instead.
*
Any links to articles regarding Essien choosing Chelsea over us? I do read a lot, but I really don't recall us even having a bid accepted for him when he was at Lyon..Like I said I may still be mistaken

Peter Kenyon + Abramovich use money as their manipulation material. Yes, United turned him down twice due to his small size, that would not make any sense as Scholes is small too. But that was according to him. I quiet remember SAF say something about him after he signed for United and it was not because of his size that we snubbed him.
*
but still was our bid even accepted by Lyon back then to give him a choice between us and Chelski?

Bale is quality but still need to be developed. He is much like our own version of LM Valencia. I dont think he can dribble. He has decent finishing in him though. He's a gem. Definitely has that potential to be a world class player.

Added on November 9, 2010, 3:10 pmThat being said, it is normal for Brits to hype up their players as usual.

Show me video of him doing a Nani or Ronaldo please. Then, I'll take back my words.

All I know, he relies on his pace to beat people. That's pretty much like our Valencia rite?
*
My only guess is that you've only been monitoring Bale due to his recent form, where some of his goals were 1 touch then beating defenders(Maicon ahem) with pace..Will post a link soon but my line now sucks so I'm confined to forums sad.gif

Just fyi just because a player doesnt do a Nani/Ronaldo/Messi consistently doesnt mean he cannot dribble.

there you go, combination of some dribbles but with more running..He can definitely dribble, but if he can beat the defender with raw pace then why not use it instead of doing fancy stuff rather than just to humiliate the defender..if you want more just go to youtube and search for videos during his time at Southampton

so you get definitions from wiki rather than a dictionary huh

if you lot think only those Nanis/Ronaldos/Messis/Ronaldinhos and other similar types of flair footballers can "dribble" then I've nothing else more to say regarding that matter doh.gif

put it to bed, move on

Dictionary got no definition for sports dribbling. IF you insist one, here it is 'To flow or fall in drops or an unsteady stream; trickle: Water dribbled from the leaky faucet.'

Anyway Video can make me even look like Nani's Ronaldo's Messi's and Ronaldinho's.....

FYI, i do observe Bale's game, he is more towards player that use raw speed and strength to get past people... rather den using fancy flick and tap...
*
"to advance a ball or puck by bouncing it or giving it a series of short kicks or pushes. "

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/dribble

that's only one(and the easiest one to find) out of the many I found on the net

Like I said, just because he uses raw pace to beat defenders MOST of the time doesn't mean he CANNOT dribble..Those videos werent meant to make Bale look good like Nani(I don't get why you would think that way, just shows how many mis-interpretations that has happened here..some even dont bother to read from start), it just shows he CAN dribble at times when needed.

1 group see from left, 1 group see from right la sweat.gif

everyone can dribble, even I can dribble. Of course Bale can dribble if he wants to, i think that's SGSuser's point. But it's not in his routine style of play, which is more hit and run type, which is what everyone else is saying. Sometimes we all looks too much into the small details of an argument, thats what i think sweat.gif
*
most sensible post so far thumbup.gif but not to the extent of you and me also can dribble la, just in regarding Bale

Look at those videos that I've posted again and tell me Bale can't dribble and can only run with the ball..Specifically the build up to his goal against Chelsea last season

Short kicks or pushes wor.... Hei come on, even beckham manage to dribble past Real defender back in 2002 when needed right. So is beckham a dribbler? Im sure it will be included in Beckham Highlight for his dribble against Real.

We are saying his overall play... In fact, Bale is not a dribbler!

Nani, Ronaldo, Messi, Ronaldinho, SWP are!

Lennon, Valencia and Bale  is not!
*
You've missed my point when you include Becks in it doh.gif

Thanks for the video.

But I still stood by my claims earlier. He is not a dribbler. Make no mistake, I am not belittling Bale. He is talented. A potential to be a world beater. But he is not a dribbler.

And you're talking about pace, Nani has it too. So does Ronaldo and Messi. But at times you could see they use their footwork in order to beat oppositions.

Try to take a look videos on Ronaldinho and Robinho. Or Falcao - one wicked dribbler.
*
I agree with him not being those fancy dribblers like CR7..I've already said tonnes of times that he uses raw pace more than dribbling..But when claims of him CANT dribble surfaces, that's just plain ignorance IMO
