OSK Holdings: Not In Serious, Exclusive Talks With Any Party




KUALA LUMPUR (Dow Jones)--Malaysian stock broking firm OSK Holdings Bhd. (5053.KU) Wednesday said it isn't in serious talks with any party on possible equity or strategic partnerships.

"The company has not entered into any serious and/or exclusive negotiations with any party with regards to any form of equity and/or strategic partnerships, OSK said in a stock exchange filing.

The Edge daily newspaper reported earlier Wednesday that Malayan Banking Bhd. (1155.KU), the country's largest lender by assets, may be interested in buying OSK Holdings in a bid to beef up its investment banking arm.

OSK however said it had been approached by many parties over the years, including global financial institutions and their advisers, to explore equity participations and other forms of strategic partnerships.

"The company continuously seeks ways and is open to opportunities to enhance its position to grow its market coverage and business in the region," it added.

OSK Holdings Bhd, a Malaysian stockbroker and investment banking group, said it hasn’t entered into any “serious” talks regarding a takeover or partnership.

The company has been approached by many suitors over the years, including global financial institutions and their advisors, due to its “strong”regional franchise, OSK said in a stock exchange filing today.

OSK was responding to an article in the Edge Financial Daily today which reported that Malayan Banking Bhd may acquire the stockbroker. - Bloomberg
