gibson prices are the same everywhere in the world, except in US, where it's cheaper I suppose ! In France, a std LP in a shop = 2000 euros = 10k approx... (of course, then you can bargain a bit).

only if the customs ask for it... i never tried to buy new guitars overseas, but everytime I cross the customs with my (old) guitars, they never bother me. So I guess I could do it with new guitars too.

when i brought my 2 guitars back from the UK, i had the cases covered with stickers to make them look used. i don't know if i'd be taxed otherwise, though.

hard case... perhaps, they'll look inside. But that's what X-rays are for ! Anyway, I always carry them in the softcase with me.

If you put them in the hardcase, they'll go in the back of the plane, along with all the other luggages. So here neither, nobody will open your case, they'll x-ray it only.

I agree that the list prices are the same about the same everywhere, but each shop can in turn give its own discount, and I every shop we investigated in Japan ALWAYS sells below the list, especially with gibson, fender and ibanez, unlike bentley, which sell them at the list price, and are cocky on top of that. A typical example will be:

MARSHALL 1974X GITAR AMPRIFRIER

ORIGINAL PRICE 10,900
OUR SUPER DISCOUNT PRICE 8,700 (8,500 without tax)

wow a real tube amp! and its a marshall clone, congrats man. The only close thing i had was the ADA MP1, which i already sold, its a 110V version, using a voltage transformer, i always get zapped when playing!
U must be one lucky dude who gets to crank your amp. Me, when i play a little loud on my 15watter, my 5 yrs old already start complaining. Now i remember why i stopped playing guitar 5 years ago.
oh i hav a confession to make, i just got my very first fender stratocaster (viva mexico!), a used one, but really excellent condition, coz the singaporean dude who sold it to me like have so many guitars.
oh and my gibby special seems not to like this addition very much smile.gif

cranking it's not working out. I called Nik up and he told me its probably due to my THD Hotplate, so that means, no more attenuation, so no more cranking cry.gif (unless I'm willing to accept hearing loss)
Buts its not so bad, the amp still sounds great pedals, its very pedal-friendly

no lah, hot plate was 1 k+, and the marshall clone was only 1.9 k plus. I have J-customs but i didnt pay j-custom prices biggrin.gif . Now, it seems that my amp has blown twice already coz I play it a full volume all the time, then go and boost the signal somemore, the THD Hotplate allows me to do this without going deaf. So, either I be prepared to replace the output transformer every so often or give up playing at full throttle all the time, and just use the amp as a power amp, get the disto from my gt6 (which sounds good through that amp too)

Not really, but lets put it this way, my Hotplate gave my amp an OPPORTUNITY to blow. With my Hotplate, I could play my amp at full blast for up to 5 hours/day (thats the most I play in a day), everyday, and thats all ive been doing since i came back from sabah. I think, if you play any amp like that, especially tube amps where the voltage inside the tubes can reach 500 to 600 volts, at full blast for hours per day everyday, its bound to blow
