a lot other guitarists have good jobs too, but small rigs... coz the 'Home Ministry' department usually bans spending on this kinda 'boy's toys' stuff
luckily my soon-to-be Home Minister is a rocker at heart, and currently learning guitar from me... |

QUOTE(Pix @ Jun 9 2005, 12:40 PM) massive ?.. i remember he wanted to upgrade his current amp... eventhough it sounds good (he makes good use of it !), it's still a peavy blazer.. unless he bought a new one already ? I have a peavey bandit, and most of the recorded stuff is done direct with my GT-6. also, i can believe i havent told you guys yet. I did buy a new amp, a marshall 1974x CLONE, head version. its a non master volume tube amp, so you have to crank it up to full to get distortion. I also bought a THD hotplate, so that i could crank it up all the way, then bring down the volume with the hotplate, so you can get that cranked amp powertube distortion at normal volumes. then i boosted the signal somemore with my gt-6. what can i say, it was everything i expected it to be. fjooking awesome. HOWEVER, since then, ive already blown my output transformer twice. Its expected when you play your tube amp full tilt all the time. so basically, i think im done with this tube amp thing. it sounds really great, i mean, its the real thing, but maintenance and reliability are a real issue if you play it like that. Next amp im going to get (in the faaar future of course), are probably one of those modelling amps. As it is, they sound damn near close to the real thing, and will only get better, and also, none of my digital or solid state stuff has ever died on me |

My rig isnt massive, but still, most of it was acquired before 'home ministry' regulations came into effectluckily my soon-to-be Home Minister is a rocker at heart, and currently learning guitar from me... |

You mean re-issue ? go to www.ceriatone.comOr is it this DIY amp shop ? (can you give the address again by the way ?) Did you see the THD Univalve there? or THD50 ? Those are the THD valve head... The next step for you is to buy a guitar cab now you can get the address there, its in bandar seri damansara. clone as in its an exact replica of the real thing. Ceriatone more known internationally than it is here. Now, i want to stress, the output transformer blowing is NOT due to any defect in the amp, its due to me playing it at full volume all the way, but he told me he can put in an even more heavy duty one for me. This guys work is quality stuff, and he knows his shit. point to point wiring, the whole works. buy hey, dont just settle for the marshall 1974x, he does plexi's, jtm45's, vintage fenders, matchless etc as well This post has been edited by ssslayerrr: Jun 13 2005, 12:41 PM |
