maybe it need different kind of psu 12v rail
what your psu 12v rail ? also notice that ur acbel r8 is 600 watt http://www.acbel.com/eng/Product.aspx?id=40&&sd=31&&pid=173 and 6850 needs about 10-11A on 12 rail.u also need to count your cpu watt.. it will be another 8-10A so you need at least 25A This post has been edited by freeman85: Dec 4 2010, 10:00 PM |

18 A for 12v1 -v4 ampere is kinda low ..minimum 25a to be safe
if u got spare psu with single rail ..better try it oo yours is this one http://www.acbel.com/eng/Product.aspx?id=40&&sd=31&&pid=175 ignore my previous post about your psu model This post has been edited by freeman85: Dec 4 2010, 10:04 PM |

also check this thread discussing the hd6850 rails requirement
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1560740 my silverstone st560 can provide enough juice for 6850+3 hdd+dvd rom+ i7 920 +sound card +7 fans iirc it all about good rails when it gfx also..my friend told me that if it got lot of 12v rails..that extra rails power will be given exclusively to the another pcie connector so that mean u already lost 18 A on another rails i'm not sure if it true or not maybe some guru here can provide some insight to this also i can confirm that ss 400watt with dual 12v rails..18a each can run hd6850 + e5200+ 2 hdd + dvd rom (my neighbours run this setup) This post has been edited by freeman85: Dec 4 2010, 10:23 PM |

i believe that your psu is ok for what u have
but it depends on the power available on the 12v rails and which ones power the CPU and gfx. did u try second pcie connector ? or if u have ..molex to pcie connector to try it |

8800GT have a TDP of around 105w (on the nets)
hd 6850 got around 121 watts based on guru3d power consumption so it is higher than previous 105/12=8.75A 121/12=10.08A 2 Amps more than before This post has been edited by freeman85: Dec 4 2010, 11:19 PM |

yea but sli power will pull from second pcie connector which probably from another rails...i guess no problem
but single high amps gfx probably going to have problem. either u tried hd6870 just to check your mobo not bias to nvidia and it got no compatibilty problem with hd6800 series forgot to mention that my concern is still on the psu problem This post has been edited by freeman85: Dec 4 2010, 11:34 PM |

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Dec 5 2010, 06:02 PM) Sometime, I wonder why people said 1GB version is better in higher resolution. LOL. Yes, better, 1-2%. actually i did try 1gb version of my friend gfx FYI, next time, read GPU performance by reading their benchmark posted on many websites on the internet. Ignore those GDDR, Bandwidth, Buswidth, VRAM and blah blah. They're for marketing. What we want is their performance not their name. Read my signature? Go to my PC Q & A Link. It helps you. it more faster than my previous hd4850 it feel more smooth on high res .. maybe because the game got some game mod that require more vram no harm done reading the faq then |

probably not psu
but do give a other psu a test just to eliminate one variable if with other psu work .. that mean your psu problem but still dont work mean vga driver + intel mb/whateve conflict |
