I can watch 480p h264mkv file using Shark 007 Win7 codec WMP 12 without any problems.
*
If the codec uses the CPU then there's no problem, what i want to know is that whether the GPU can decode SD H264 properly or not since last time if it's below than 576p it's going to be corrupted.

If you have the time, can you please report back on the DXVA?

u using what player for dxva ?
i'm testing with mpc-hc that come with cccp

didnt follow setting from this website but able to use dxva also
testing test file no 1 from here http://imouto.my/watching-h264-videos-using-dxva/  from that website
still got video corruption

from that website also
ATI GPUs with UVD2.x (PCI-E or IGP) + Catalyst 10.4 and newer drivers + Windows Vista or 7 = can play test video 2 to 6, but not The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya NCED theme (Hare Hare Yukai). Success probability is 90%. The issue with AIR NCOP theme (Tori no Uta) also applies
*
i use MPC-HC too,but it's the one that comes with Klite Codec Pack as CCCP haven't been updated in a while.
If you can, please try that. icon_question.gif

Bro, 5850 can support 3 monitors or 6?

If i wan to use 3 monitor connect to HDMI output is it possible?
*
You can use HDMI to connect to three monitors, provided that you have an active DP to HDMI converter since HDMI needs a clock generator, unlike DP.As the HD5850 only ahs two clock generators for the third one you need an active DP adapter that has the clock generator built in.

Tq for ur info..
Appreciate it..

Another Qs.
I m using non-ref xFx 5850 now but my new xFx 5850 black edition will arrive tml,
Can i xfire it? Will not compatible?
N i see got 2 goldfinger at my GC there.. I nid to connect the xfire cable both or either 1 only?
*
The OCed card will downclock itself to match the non OCed card's speed.Just connect one CF connector.

Yes. I used to have problems of tearing with some of my 480p video songs. After the latest update of catalyst software, no more problems now.
I can't remember which update fixed it because all the time I turned off the option. Only after the latest update, I tried to test it again by turning it on in MPC and it was working flawlessly. No more tearing. Btw, I am using Catalyst 10.10e.

If your pc fast enough it better to disable dxva for SD video since we dont know which encode file affected

sigh,looks like it isn't fixed [fully] yet doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif
What's the use of having the hardware on the GPU if the drivers aren't written to use it properly?I need my CPU cycles for other tasks while at the same time i want to play some videos.
Well, whatever.I'm not using an AMD GPU anymore. yawn.gif

Errr.. any bro can answer my Qs ah?

1) my GC got 2 gold finger.. but i know if we wan cross fire it, we juz nid to connect either 1 crossfire cable to 1 gold finger only but if i connect both gold finger ... is no harm right?

2) do i nid y-cable after x-fire it ? means is it necessary my monitor connect wif 2 graphic cards using tat y- cable?
*
1)Use one connector only, there's no need or benefit for two

2)Connect the monitor(s) to the primary card, usually the one at the top slot.though iinm there's no problem connecting it to the 2nd card.
Use 1 cable for 1 port for 1 monitor, there's no need for a y cable [such cables exist ah?]

Guys,

Wanna ask,  Im interested with HD 5770. Im always ON my PC 24/7 (downloading) and power consumption is my greatest concern. You think HD 5770 will increase my electricity bill significantly eh? Have been relying on my HD 4200 (on-board graphic card, ASUS  M4a785TD-V Evo) but proved that its not enough for some games and my design editing.
Read that ATI claim this card only consume 18watt idle and max laod 108 watt. Dunno if i can really trust this figure o not  sweat.gif    . Need some opinion  notworthy.gif
*
Those figures are actually true, and your bills should increase by around RM3 per month [not really accurate this figure but you get the idea].Rather than a HD5770,why don't you consider a HD6850/GTX460 instead? On idle they use about the same amount of power while being priced around the same yet performs much better.

QUOTE(techmostwanted @ Dec 13 2010, 08:41 AM)
hi all, i got my sapphire 6870, and to my surprise, it isnt using reference cooler from AMD. it consist a black dual slot cooler with some sort of heatpipe underneath and i think the fan is slightly bigger than the AMD reference one, looks cool but dunno about its performance fully.

see more here http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/p...sn=0001&pid=981

i run a simple tessellation stress test using GPU caps viewer and my result is ~44c idle and ~67c full load, my ambient temperature is the standard temperature of our country's noon time.

my question is, is this the better cooler compared to the reference one? all of the reviews i can find consist of the standard reference from AMD.
*
It's better than the reference cooler alright,it cools better and produces less noise thumbup.gif

double check with the price, yes it is true and it 6950 might cost around RM1100++ when launched here. so it wont cannibalize 68xx series after all biggrin.gif, if it cost rm900++ then nobody will buy 68xx already.
*
i saw a HD6950 going for RM1150 only in garage sales. brows.gif

all in all,a disappointing series, the HD6970 is as fast as a GTX570 while being louder and more expensive. It also just uses a bit less power than a GTX570.With this results no wonder it's delayed doh.gif

I dont know about you, but to call a series as a failure, for me both the cards should be rubbish....but as I was about to discard the 6900s,the 6950 is way better performer than its brother. Its cheaper and as fast as the old GTX480..I would conclude as this 6900s are the ones that will draw the price
war. It is something similar of the 3800s to the 8800gt....cards at the better price points...
*
i didn't call it a failure of a series whistling.gif
i called it 'disappointing'.Those two words aren't the same.My expectations are high for these cards before this after seeing what the HD68xx are capable of.Once the HD6950 is sold at MSRP here then it's a good card [the only one it it's price bracket besides the going-to-be -phased-out HD5870],not now though s it costs as much as a GTX570.

are the driver's really unstable?Performance naturally will increase once better drivers are available but i'm not holding my breath for anything.

QUOTE(paradis3lost @ Dec 15 2010, 06:47 PM)
I was an avid ATI supporter since I got my 4850. But I was really disappointed by the 6970. I was actually hoping it'll be able to be on par or beat the GTX580. But turns out, it can't even beat the GTX570 properly. And it costs ~100-200 more than the GTX570. Unless there's a miraculous driver release that somehow boosts the performance by 20-30%, I'd say that the 6900 series ain't worth it at all. Either that, or 6950 drops to RM900 and 6970 to RM1100 or so.
*
That's unlikely to happen unless Nvidia cuts the prices for GTX570 which is also unlikely to happen. The Cayman was supposed to be a 32nm part, had it been 32nm it would be faster than the GTX580 and use less power while being priced like right now.

EDIT
I forgot that the HD6950's MSRP is 300USD only,so it's relatively cheap and fast.Quite worth it imo unlike the HD6970 which equals the GTX570 but costs more.HD6950 is only 10%+- slower than a HD6970 brows.gif
Now waiting for the HD6950's price to drop back to MSRP
