+1, it is not strange to have passive cooler for 6850 card, try passive cooler on 6970 or 5870 I bet without fan, it still can produce good cooling temperature. As long your casing got enough room letting air to flow.

When I checked the review benchmark using 3d Mark 2011. The marks is so pathetic. Extensive Test will only reach 1k+ or max 2k+ points. Which means Graphic performance can be throttled to even advanced performance.

I'm still waiting for the 6970 released, so I can get 5870 =_=. The 5870 is still stubborn as rocks, its brother already dropped until RM600+, yet it still remain almost RM1k =_=.

This is normal as usually u wont see the first driver they release will be bugless, provided that they only have like 1 month time to do the next patching.

Even 5000 series driver still has quite a number of bug in it, and we really cant say AMD is !%@^!#% just because of the driver problem.

I've read quite alot of thread and those forumers mentioned like "AMD driver is so !#$@$, I will change to N*idia sides.". When I saw those sentences, makes my wanna laugh, cause not only AMD are facing this problem, others are having the same issue as well.

I personally have the scaling issue from 5870 for almost half years. Everytime I have to scale back the original size once I start my PC. I know it is troublesome, but I usually like, well just a 1 min work, I wouldn't mind about this. Until on Nov it actually solve my issue.

So be patient regarding the problem of the driver as AMD staffs are really trying their best to fix the issue. XD

6900 series price is really cheap compare the 5000 series where as that time 5870 sell like almost 1.4k. But the testing on 6950 and 6970 are really not quite impressive, despite the good power usage and temperature. Lets hope those 2 cards have good overclocking potential in it

Why don't just wait for much later series such as 560? or maybe the 28nm generation?

Once the 560 releases, I think AMD might lose in this series ( Even though I'm AMD fans ). I never thought in budget wise, Nvidia has actually handled it quite well this time. And you can see that in terms of power saving, the difference is just 70 ( I saw the review ). But seriously, after i saw the price and review, I personally felt that I'm buying 5870 is worth it 1 year ago. XD. But hey, driver is still no mature yet, so 6000 series will really push up the power to the max. That time it might be push to 70% diff

Does it apply to only 6000 series graphic card? Cause in my 5870 I do not have this kind of problem.

I can tell you... the price definitely is not cheap when it comes with briefcase :S

If i were you, i will wait 7000 series. If you are die hard benchmark point, then get it, if not, then better wait for next gen, cause now u can almost play every game with max setting ( except those hardcore one :S)

Some people are happy for the 100 points increased after testing the 3d mark using latest driver. Some are not even bother with the 100 points.. So it varies.

I saw the price of 6970 is really cheap. RM1.2k.... What is the latest price for 5870 nowadays? I check through Garage sales, and the price is still 1.1k or 1k. ( Correct me if I'm wrong ).

Do you mean the scaling ? Maybe the driver has reset your scaling setting. Try to reset it again and restart your pc. Last time 5000 series user faces this kind of issue before due to driver. But now it is fixed. But i have no idea regarding the 6000 series.

For driver yes.. For yourself no. Actually I'm not quite sure why ATI will reset the scaling back to default even though the screen is big enough for the 100% scalling. XD

Just restart pc and recheck whether the scaling setting is set or not.

Do you guys really think you will enjoy eyefinity 3 LCD gaming? I try this before.. And I feel weird regarding those gab between LCD. Its like got 1 stick between the screen. I do hope I can play using projector.... That one awesome haha. (Its like watching movie ).

Just 3 months after then it got price slashed. Good for those who want to xfire. That RM780 for 5870 really tempt me of getting it for xfire...... should i xfire ? If i xfire then no more 7000 series... T__T Headache

It depends whether your friend got the old stock or the new stock. If your friend got the old stock, gratz to him as he can flash to 6970. But if he got the new stock. Then sorry for him. AMD already remodified the 6950 thus cannot flash it already.

Guys, wanna ask you all. Does you all having constant blue screen while using PC? I found out that anything after driver 11.1 are pretty unstable. I haven't tried the 11.1a yet, but the 11.1 gives me frequent bluescreen. Now I roll back to 11.0. So before i try the new 11.1a, wanna ask you guys whether is there any complaint or issues regarding this new driver...

We are not sure whether the name will be 7000 series, cause ATI never actually announced the name yet. But it should be end of this year, somewhere around December. Or next year.

Single card pawn 5870 CF? erm.... might take some time... Maybe 3 or 4 more generation can pawn CF 5870 using single card. My guess.

THis year competitive, I'm satisifed for both graphic manufacturer, nvr give a single chance to opponent. Price cut within half year which is something that we nvr thought about. This did mean that AMD started to worry their sales after the successful of 570 and 560.

Nvidia does not start to have its price cut yet... So we might face another price cut war again~~~

I dont think nvidia will cut the price only when 7000 series come out. Because I'm sure AMD will start to run another price cut to kill off 580 and 570 sales, and force Nvidia to cut its own price as well. I don't think the scenario will not be like last 5000 generation as that time Nvidia totally has no fight against 5800 series... causing 5800 price stood still for 1 year.
