QUOTE(mike xtreme @ Oct 7 2010, 10:32 AM) haven't explore that part of photography yet...hehe developing a roll of film alone takes me such a long time, wat more trying different soup...hahaha a lot of time meh? i thought it's a very simple process. a lot of steps yes but it's not hard lah. wait till you do C-41 (colour negatives) you need water at 36 celcius |

ermm, one questions here...
why the majority of the photographs i have seen here are very 'lomo-ish'. film photography shouldn't be like that right? |

QUOTE(mike xtreme @ Oct 7 2010, 05:09 PM) nope. lomo is just a style of processing. but why were you using expired films? (a lomo trend)film has much more than just lomo. FILM is very addictive in everyway...i mostly shoot street phog with film coz digital still cant emulate b&w fully like how film does. cheers! and your black and white photos, seriously aren't that good tonality speaking. i used to teach black and white processing and printing and to be honest with you, it's a fail student's work. hope you don't take it in heart. i am thrill that there are people who have the commitment of self processing the films and stuffs but i guess maybe you do not have people to guide you to do it the right way... or you prefer it that day: water stains, dust, low contrast, etc... that is why i am asking. again, i am not looking for a war |

wah guys,
why wanna TT with me? hahahaa i did a talk for photomalaysia members' night last week and i was showing them my photos. by the way, all my works are photographed in films. and it has been like 10 years since i last do my own black and white. however, i was still teaching black and white in a uni until 4 years ago when they decided to go digital. i dont mind giving some tips on how to process films. hahahaa it took me like 5 years to prefect my skill in using HP5 (was only using this film last time) processed in LC-29 or ID-11 to get the maximum tonal range. eh, i suggest to use stop bath as it will prolong your fixer's strength. if you can't afford it, can use those clear vinegar. if you can't stand the smell, get those without smell. do you guys use wetting agent? it's important to use it. don't get the ilford one as it's crap. get the kodak one |

just tell the lab people that you want the film to be pushed. they will know what to do.
they basically develop the film for a longer time |

rx330, where are you based?
1 week is bad leh. but then again, with the booming of digital photography, mini labs are closing faster than usd dropping in values lol. most of the labs returned/sold the film processing machines as they can't maintain it due to low amount of films to be processed |

QUOTE(Riggo @ Aug 23 2011, 04:48 PM) did you process the film yourself?it's dusty and notice there is a sort of 'bulan sabit' (lol) on the 3rd photo? it's mishandling of the negative. accidentally 'folded' the negative. but on the other hand, it gives a very nice 'feel' to it. Added on August 23, 2011, 11:17 pm QUOTE(rx330 @ Aug 19 2011, 10:57 AM) ifer, i just pass a roll of film to my fren yesterday, he will bring it to singapore eh, i heard good things about colorlab. give photohub a try as wellwhich one u rekomen? now we send b&w to ruby and color to colorlab This post has been edited by ifer: Aug 23 2011, 11:17 PM |

QUOTE(Riggo @ Aug 23 2011, 11:46 PM) Thanks bro although my BnW still sucks ! Neopan 400 if i remember correctly...no i didn't push the film hahaaYea, first time developed the BnW myself, taught by a very kind friend. Yup, these scans are quite dusty due to poor scanning skill and rush, scanner borrowed from a friend haha... i'm thinking of getting myself a scanner so i can put more effort on scanning my negs. I see...gotta handle my negs better next time...I thought it was caused by flare lol... Thanks ! dont worry about it. self processing is fun. and tedious at times. once you are serious about it, you will realise that there is a huge world of black and white darkroom technique waiting to be discovered. dust and scratches are normal for beginners but try to minimise it. |
