I managed to get a Monster for something significantly lower than the prices quoted here. You need to look harder. Tip: the Bay.

No idea on the OEM bracelet, but I think the watchadoo bracelets look good with the Monster. Going for USD50 on ebay.

Seiko solar powered watches are not as popular as Citizen. I would go for Eco Drive series, lots of positive reviews and I'm sure you'll likely get one that suits your taste.
Watchhub is a reliable seller, bought from them before. |

QUOTE(fluffy6640 @ Dec 15 2011, 09:52 AM) auto winder would be for those manual winding watches. if im not mistaken. so for seiko's autos normally, no wrist time, no winding at all I think you mean the opposite? Watch winders work for auto watches so if you put your Seiko auto on a winder, technically it will be running as long as the winder is on. Manual/hand winding on the other hand requires, well, hand winding. |

There arguments from both sides on whether a watch winder is necessary. On one hand, if you don't wear your watch for a long period of time, the lubricant may harden and this may affect the movement. On the other, constantly winding it may result in parts being worn out faster.
I have a winder which I never turn on, only use it to store watches. I guess as long as I rotate my watches once in a while it's good enough |

I was comtemplating on selling my Black Monster and a few others to fund a Speedy, but for the value and quality it's hard to let it go!

^^The Limited Edition caught my eye when I was browsing a store in Muar. Best price I could get - 1.2k, not too bad for a 1300-pc LE.

Though I'm not a Muarian, I think the shop has been around for quite some time. Pretty friendly staff.
When I was there last week, only 1 piece was displayed, same as the one in the pic. |

Based on the photographs, I think the Seiko trumps the Alba and Orient. The case and dial seem to be very nicely finished.

If you feel some resistance that means you're winding it. Until a point where it is hard to wind or you can't wind anymore, just stop, the movement likely has a protection system to prevent overwinding.

Did you happen to wear a watch when you went in the shop? If so what watch was it?

QUOTE(MeToo @ Mar 20 2012, 10:40 AM) Huh? So we need to wear an oris to look at a seiko? Then a rolex to look at an oris? I'm not advocating bad customer service, just curious to know whether the watch a customer wears makes an impression on the sales person.Anyway, i reckon shops with better trained sales people wouldnt behave in that way. Last time I was in watatime lookign at watches.... the salesgirl was very helpful despite me wearing a timex on that day (goign to gym later ma). |

Again, I'm not saying you need to wear a fancy watch to get the service you deserve. I agree that your overall appearance and manner do play a part, but can the watch factor be ruled out entirely? I'm guessing not.

QUOTE(Catnip @ Apr 10 2012, 01:59 AM) It's due to quartz and silica particles that are trapped in the nato strap after a while from airborne dust. Those particles are hard enough to scratch metal casings and mineral crystals. Clean the strap daily, use 2 piece straps or use metal bracelets for outdoor use. Wow you got a stringent routine going there. I only clean/wash mine whenever buildup becomes obvious. Other than that my watches never touch water no matter how water resistant they are Personally, I prefer metal bracelets because I like to wash my watch with soap and rinse under running water at least once or twice daily to keep it clean and prevent dirt and grime buildup. |
