Actually it's almost similar with Torch 2 just difference in size and it might support Android apps as well.

Awaiting confirmation from my associates in Canada for an actual unit to be deliver to me...

Playbook is "almost similar" with Torch 2? U must be kidding or ill informed rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Torch 2 spec according to BGR:
(I list on the Playbook spec in BOLD RED)

1.2GHz processor (Arm Cortex A9 Dual Core@1Ghz)
Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
Tri-band HSPA 14.4Mbps
3.2-inch VGA 640 x 480 capacitive display (7", 1024 X 600)
8GB built-in memory (start from 16gb up to 64GB)
512MB RAM (1GB of RAM)
Bluetooth 2.1
GPS
NFC
5-megapixel camera with flash (3MP front and 5PM back)
Magnetometer
Accelerometer
Proximity sensor
1300 mAh battery (5300mAh)
BlackBerry OS 6.1 (Blackberry Table OS, QNX)
OpenGL ES
14.6mm thin

So from the above, still just difference in size like U mentioned ? doh.gif doh.gif

hmm, the one I read from twitter blogs says that the new Torch 2 will have 768MB of RAM instead of 512MB. Though if you ask me I'm not so sure anymore of what else that may change.

Though what I'm interested is in the OPENGL ES. Is it purely software or its enabled due to changes in hardware? That one will set things apart for Torch 1 and Torch 2.

I do understand that Torch 2 may be built to consider CDMA qualities (that's why the needed extra CPU power) but at the same time they weren't willing to stick to 600+MHz, so the doubling up to a 1.2 to probably speed things double time.

IF you have the APIs and the correct software coding to make it happen, then yes. It can make calls.

if voice call is possible, then video call can be programmed. However the issue is with RIM, because they aren't exactly a fan of "video call" because even when video call over 3g is a pretty developed technology, it isn't as fluid as many hoped it would be (and how it should be) when it comes to real-time performance, including the lags, pings, etc.

Probably a "facetime" clone. Or, just port skype over. kaw tim.

Video cal already confirmed have in playbook.
Someone from crackberry forum who went to the Demo in LA few days ago wrote: "No sign of video chat or Skype preloaded - Reps said that RIM wasn't quite sure how they wanted Video Chat hosted - but did mention it will definitely be included in the BBM on the PB"

Anyway, I pre-order a 16gb Playbook from US. Hope to get it around early May.
