QUOTE(auronthas @ May 16 2011, 02:47 PM) http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/14/rim-rec...lshare_facebook RIM had official statement on this faulty batch. Below is some the it statement:Check your serial number if yours are one of them RIM determined that approximately one thousand BlackBerry PlayBook tablets (16 GB) were shipped with an OS build that may result in the devices being unable to properly load software upon initial set-up. The majority of the affected devices are still in the distribution channel and haven't reached customers. RIM is working to replace the affected devices. In the small number of cases where a customer received a PlayBook that is unable to properly load software upon initial set-up, they can contact RIM for assistance. so it is not a big problem as descripted by ifad site like engadget fanning up the issue. Need to give credit to RIM that come clean and owned up to this bad batch. Not like other who asked its fanboy to hold the phone on certain "correct" way...LOL Source: Crackberry.com This post has been edited by mikelanding: May 16 2011, 03:07 PM |

QUOTE(CapKapak @ May 17 2011, 08:44 PM) Hi guys, just picked one up on my way back to KL from SFO. Got the 64Gb unit. But the screen is very sharp and bright than Ipad. Did u tried the camera and video capture? Best .. Apart from the strong rubber smell (even on my fingers after using), the unit seems OK. I do find though the capacitive display not as responsive at the iPad. |

My friend just found out a bug on Playbook.
Do remember to accept the agreement on the Video Chat application or else your PB will get heat up and drain the battery. Further test the Bridge browser, it seem fast enough under Digi 3G BIS. When I was at Batam, Indonesia, I am using Telkomsel BIS. But even under 3G, it is still very slow. So I am sure the Bridge browser is much depend on the BIS quality. Anyone can share their Bridge browsing experience under Maxis, Celcom or Umobile? |

Info that all BB fan would like to know..
RIM’s Playbook sales steady, BlackBerry mixed: RBC Channel checks by RBC Capital Markets show that Research In Motion Ltd. has sold an estimated 250,000 PlayBooks since launching on April 19. Analyst Mike Abramsky thinks the BlackBerry maker may sell 500,000 of the tablets in the first quarter, which would exceed early sales of the Android-powered Motorola Xoom. “Despite its launch drawbacks and RIM’s recall of 1000 PlayBooks, checks show PlayBook returns are nominal to date,” Mr. Abramsky told clients. RBC’s checks suggest RIM’s fiscal first quarter is tracking in line with the company’s lowered guidance, with earnings per share between US$1.30 and US$1.37 and revenue below US$5.2-billion. BlackBerry checks indicate softness in the United States as first quarter smartphone shipments may fall 9% (quarter-over-quarter) to 13.5 million units, which is in line with RIM’s lowered guidance. Since the company has no new U.S. product launches this quarter, RIM now has the lowest number of SKUs at U.S. carriers since the middle of 2007, Mr. Abramsky noted. However, BlackBerry sales in Europe and Asia remain healthy, although low-end Android smartphones are emerging in some markets. http://business.financialpost.com/2011/05/...erry-mixed-rbc/ Who said 7" Tablet is DOA?? Look at RIM's Playbook and Samsung's Galaxy Tab...Stevie need to start eat humble pie!! |

Guide: How to Have Playbook Tethering & BIS Access at the same time
As a Playbook AND BB user, there are many way to get connect. 1 of them is tethering to your BB phone. But during tethering, your BB will disconnect from BIS and a msg "Modem Mode Enabled" will appear. As a powerful user, I need my bb to alway connected to BIS while I still want to tethering for the same time. I saw some tricks at crackberry forum and want to share with U guy. The step as below: 1) First U need to get into Engineering Screen aka Help Me screen. U can do this by pressing alt+ RIGHT aA +H in homescreen. Screen below will pop up: ![]() 2) Then, U need to find out the lock code to go further. This is the link to generate the lock code: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9610464/HelpScreen.html U need to key in all informations as what appear in YOUR Help ME! Screen: ![]() 3) Once U got the code, type in the code on the Help Me! screen. 4) If U type in correctly, below screen will appear. Select Multi-WAP Engineering Screen ![]() 5) Select Tunnel Engineering Screen ![]() 6) Change IP Modem Solo Mode to DISABLE ![]() 7) Try tethering your Playbook with your BB, U will see "Modem Mode Enable" but your BB still connected to BIS. ![]() Please aware that there is a RISK to screw up your BB if U dont know and dont follow the above guide. I am not responsible for that. DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! This post has been edited by mikelanding: May 20 2011, 03:52 PM |

@arif,
did u go into the Engineering screen and check out your IP Modem Solo Mode is Enable or Disable? What model U using? Under which Telco I am using Bold 9780 OS6.0.0.546 and using Digi Smartplan RM78 per month. Also, if U can tethering and still Connect to BIS, then this step is not necessary. QUOTE(Arif Che Man @ May 21 2011, 12:17 AM) @mike, If U cannot do further into the Engineering screen mean you key in incorrect info. I also need to tried few times to get inside.I'm using Curve 8900 5.0.0.1067 with Celcom on BIS Professional Lite. I'm unable to go into the engineering screen. I've tried multple times and confirm that all are correct. While tethering, i open services option and it says connected to BIS. |

If you dont want to put all your music collections into PB and dont mind doing some upkeep on large movie file.
16GB is more than enough. The App is usually very small in size. Except Need for Speed which is 300+mb. |

QUOTE(DiCkWaD @ May 26 2011, 12:42 PM) Everytime I start my BBM on my PB, it always loads for a bit before it closes on it's own. Housekeeping your BBM contact. Delete those grey out one or not important one. Will help to load faster.I have to keep opening BBM for at least 3-4 times before it finally stays open. Any idea why this is happening and how do I solve this problem? Thx guys! |

QUOTE(sonyclie77 @ May 26 2011, 11:59 PM) QUOTE(stringfellow @ May 27 2011, 12:11 AM) To a certain extent. I'm now into watching TV shows streamed directly instead of downloading them, Playbook does that with gusto. iPad? No option whatsoever, since it prohibits Flash. The normal web browsing experience is as good as iPad, pinch-to-zoom/scroll inertia and has the one-up on iPad when it comes to tabbed browsing and browsing Flash-heavy content websites. stringfellow said it well on Playbook Browsing experience.I managed to sold 1 Playbook to my own sister yesterday. She into watching live matches on Germany team and Bayern Munich. Shown her those live stream work well on Playbook. |
