Their venue is small. They're letting people in in batches. Lots of mi games, mainly about who can scream "iPhone 4" longest or loudest, and pop quizzes for goodies. Lame goodies though.

Waiting in the "holding area" until they'll let us in into the registration counter hall.

Tell you the truth. I was there and talking to my friend. Then one of the guy who was standing behind my friend told his friend "whoa, that guy an iPhone 4 already. Don't need to queue like us". Upon hearing that I smiled at him  tongue.gif Left the place at 9. There was quite a number of people there when I was there.  laugh.gif

Why should it matter if you already have an iPhone 4 and still lining up? Screw those people, there's a group of 8 of us we were not hesitant to take out and use our iPhone 4.

QUOTE(sup3rfly @ Sep 23 2010, 10:44 PM)
hmmm can someone help to ask later if we still can get bumper case??? tongue.gif

For those in the later numbers, don't worry they're letting propel in by batches of 60 per entry. They're 60 counters open. Should be fast.

Good to finally meet you! biggrin.gif

Awesome post by Bontaku as well, I couldn't have posted it any better, very well written and packed with info. If there's anything I can stress out, get there as early as you physically can. If the crowd today is any indication, it will be packed!

Among us, we've amassed and purchased 10 iPhone 4s of varying sizes.

Congratulations to the new owners, please treat your iPhones responsibly, learn as much as you can, and register your ownership at the iPhone Owners thread. I'm available for FaceTime if you'd like to test that feature out. I'm also available for sim-cutting.

There's a flaw in the purchasing system. If you know how to use the system to your advantage, one of our group managed to buy 6 units one-shot outright, with 6 individual numbers.

The line? Snaked past two floors until the freaking parking lot! I can only sympathize with those lining up in the stuffy hot place.

You can. You can bring in a guest to accompany you. I used the excuse that I'm the principle line owner accompanying the other person who has the queue number in hand as my supplementary line. Went in, snap a few pics and now all of us out with these 10 units in hand.

reach gardens at 9am sharp. the earlier the better.
cause once your in front of the line. u r the first few to be able to go in and purchase the phone.

instead of waiting like a donkey and the the numbers from 10am -2pm slot have not been cleared yet. cant imagine for the 6-10pm.

1 thing i find very irritating is that i see that people without rsvp lining up and asking all sort of questions while in line..
come on..if u dono wad ur  buying move on..

and i went to complain to the staff in the area.
he said it was slow cause some people are hogging the counter.
some gets it finish within 10 mins. some takes more than half an hour.

i can just imagine those who takes half an hour didnt do any bloody homework on what they want to get.
or they think they are like in pasar malam, can nego for this and that.

i overhead so many uncle and aunties, ask this ask that...walao eh..
even more stupid. got one auntie..go and ask the iphone staff..
" i wanna complain my emails i send take more than half a day to go out "
WHAT CAN SHE BLOODY DO? she is not the bloody technician eh.

i dont think Maxis is to be blamed only, i think the MALAYSIAN public is to be blamed to.
lack of preparation, and just malaysian attitude of not respecting the procedures.

i was in line for more than 4 hours. i gave up.
i will get mine in a maxis center, or i will wait till the craze dies down.

honestly, i wish apple stayed exclusive and ensure what we are getting is exclusive.

I hope now people can understand why we're stern on noobs here on the iPhone subforum itself. They're hogging the "resources" here, a.k.a the technically inclined folks who are valuable in providing help and info on how to manage iPhones properly. At the very least, like what you mentioned, is these folks should do their bloody homework first before going to the counter, and in the case of this forum, do their bloody homework before asking stupid questions like "why speaker one side louder than the other?" type.

It's the typical lazy ass Malaysian mentality that expect spoonfeeding to part and parcel of the receipt of the phone, or in the case of this forum, part of their self-entitled privileges when they ask a question here, they expect to be answered fast or promptly, without even having the decency of finding out the answers first themselves.

Which is why, during the first iPhone 2G was out, there were'nt such nonsenses like this. Those who dared to buy and own an iPhone 2G, KNOWS what they're getting into, and in turn, becomes the valuable "resource" themselves as they grew into the whole iPhone ecosystem. There's no such things as those idiotic questions we're getting these days, with constant spamming, and constant asking of questions that had already been answered and stickied. Constant whining and pleading for answers, not unlike a freaking baby chicks nganga mulut asking to be spoonfed.

I totally agree and echo your sentiments here, I agree that only once these folks know what they're getting into then they should only get it. Owning an iPhone comes with the responsibility of at least arming oneself with the basic knowledge of the iPhone first, not just crashing headfirst into it, and spamming the forum here with inane, redundant questions. The victim of all of this? The eager, honest folks who wants to learn more about the iPhone with valid questions, the seniors/veterans who had to put up with these nonsense by these noobs, and ultimately, the mods and staff of LYN moderating team who had to clean up this shit every single time a typical freaking noob decides to nganga his mulut and starts spewing redundant questions and expect answers henceforth.

I do my part on keeping the forum functioning as it should be, it's becoming a laborious task as more and more of these lazy noobs gets into the iPhone ecosystem here and care not about arming themselves with the proper knowledge and simply ask stupid redundant questions.

You must be new. I've been doing that since iPhone 3G. Or your phone isn't that desirable, or you're willing to jump in late. Either way, you're missing out on a unique experience. Personally, I've no qualms queueing if I'm there with friends, time passes by when the 8 of us are together.

Haha...true also....
The experience with friends and enjoying the atmosphere there is priceless.

What I am complaining is the organizer dunno how to arrange the events properly and let us user suffer to q-ing for long hours.

That is unavoidable, I was subjected to queueing myself when I get mine from official Apple Store in Australia.

1 - IF there are a 100 customers ahead of you and if they miraculously can finish serving a customer 5 minutes at a time, you still have to wait 500 minutes, how many hours is that?

2 - In reality, they needed more than 5 minutes. Cards need to be verified and charged, Terms and Conditions needed to be clarified, and your details and plans hooked to your iPhone 4 needed to be activated. Hence the long time waiting. Unless :-

3 - You're the "pay and go" type. I am. Apple Store employees love me because they dont have to explain every single details on how to work the iPhone 4 because I am responsible enough to learn it myself, or know where to look for answers without bugging them and slowing down the line. I know how and where to settle my plan details, or have settled them myself. In this Maxis case, do them a favour, study the plan, ask a staff before you're at the counter signing up so that you disturb him minimally. That way, you're doing a favor to the rest of the folks behind the line.

Bottom line, it is unavoidable. Malaysians are the lazy type, wanna get spoonfed for everything. They dont bother finding out until they need to, and when they do, they bother the hell out of the rest and basically being selfish to the rest by taking up other people's time. Unless Malaysians change their mindset and take their own initiative, you'll never get this process speed up.
