QUOTE(wvt @ Mar 21 2011, 07:54 PM) bro,is me again! wanna ask is it possible for you to open a bulk order for iPad 2?I'm sure a lot of people would be very interested in this... Let me know ya. Heya buddy! Nice to see ya around again. Hopefully youre enjoying your Kindle well and good Ipad 2 huh ? In fact youre the 4th person who suggested I do one. Its been on my mind for a while now. Im making plans for that, however ill need to really check up on that. Reason is, the state where my colleague is from, the taxes on Apple products (State Taxes) are kinda high and I of course wanna make sure itll be cheap.
Some folks here have started on the bulk for Ipad 2, some seems genuine, others, well lets say I dont personally believe the Ipad 2 can make it here at the price they are quoting it at, but perhaps they know best. My plan (plan only for now) is to get some actual units in personally and then look at the real cost and timing for it to come in, so i can give a proper estimate rather than having folks waiting anxiously for the items. Ill let you know though!
Thanks for the trust ! This post has been edited by havocx: Mar 22 2011, 09:50 AM

QUOTE(ffin @ Mar 21 2011, 08:53 PM) Hi, Would one be able to select wifi only and disable 3g on the kindle 3G version? Or would it automatically switch to and fro from wifi to 3g depending on availability of service? Missed this question yesterday, perhaps because I posted my earlier answer above at about the same time you did yours. As usual for the Kindle to work really well, ie to have its excellent battery life where a single charge lasts up to one month the wireless should be kept off.
Kindle 3G however does not differentiate 3G from normal Wifi. Turning on Wireless means its turning both the Wifi and 3G on. Just like the Ipad, the Kindle will by default lock on to the Wifi if its available. To specifically use 3G though even if youre in your own Wifi enabled house, just disconnect from the Wifi. To disable one or both, the Wireless for the Kindle must be turned off. This in turns unfortunately will disable both the 3G and Wifi.
Really though, i guess, it doesnt really matter to keep it on or off. With it on, you have 10 days of battery and book reading life till next recharge, thats waaay more than any phones or ipads out there. With it off, you have up to 30 days. The only contender even coming close to this kind of battery life is well...you guessed it, another Kindle!
Hope that helps!

QUOTE(rmage @ Mar 24 2011, 12:29 PM) Sorry havocx a bit late in coming back with feedback. Been caught up with tons of work. Anyway, wish to update that I've received my item on last Monday morning. People, please do consider havocx to help with your purchasing from amazon as he's really prompt in updating the status of the package from Amazon up till it arrives at our shores. I totally recommend him. Glad to have been of service. Thanks for still coming back to place your review rmage. Its been a pleasure helping you out.
QUOTE(newgal @ Mar 24 2011, 09:00 PM) Here are some question i PM havocx early regarding Kindle 3 Wifi which i don't understand that u all/kindle user may refer to: MY QUESTION:1) Will it be save I just "OFF" my kindle wifi or "ON" it...so that there no trouble where amazon will detected my ip from malaysia...if ever i using the wifi or not....cause there certain ppl saying that their device been block after detecting their ip frm malaysia. ANSWER:1) Its not the IP thats being blocked Its the account associated with it that is, simply because its detecting that its a non US account. Really to understand this, if you are a US individual buying the Kindle and on 3 months work in Malaysia and on Wifi, youre IP is also showing Malaysia right ? And because of that Amazon will just block this US persons account ? Not really. ........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ So bro, from your answer that mean it is ok to "ON" the WIFI and do some browsing using our local broadband as long as the account associated is register by US address then it is save...I'm i right? Now i understand...hehe Heya Newgal, thanks for pasting the answers on the thread, itll be easier for folks to see the answers since im sure many folks just getting the Kindle would like to know the same too. So yes, in short here are the steps. 1. Create a new email account. Location - Make sure its US. Why cant use current email account ? Unless you sure youve put country as US when you registered, you may have the issue mentioned in the question. 2. Next create your Amazon account if you have not. Country US. Address ? Anywhere. Mine is the White House haha but really, even any random McD or Starbucks will do. 3. Link that Amazon account to your email address in step 1. 4. Add your credit card, add your Malaysian Billing Address. 5. Buy your books! Been doing it since I got my own Kindle. No need Hotspotshield and dont need any nifty magic. It works beautifully
Oh and to your final question above, its a YES Hope that helps!

Morning folks, Just to update you guys on the status of the items. For now, all the Kindle orders have arrived. Thats what happens when its Amazon specific items i guess, while the rest are still being shipped in. There's different estimates in time though but hopefully all the items can reach by the end of this week and we can start the process of shipping them to Malaysia.
We've also been joined by bookworm_612, getting a Kindle too. She's also helped to pay a slightly higher sum to ensure her Kindle comes in at about the same time as the rest of the orders so that we'll not have to wait for all the items to reach before the item is sent out. Right, so here's also my plan, the thread has been a little quiet too, so just to be transparent, am going to also update my Updates here on the thread, that way, everyone else too will know that the items are still coming in since I also have folks trolling the forum but do not actually have username and passwords who have ordered from me and would like to know the updates. Its easier to send mass PM's but not so easy handling multiple emails.
So okay, any technical queries you may have, I do ask you to ask on the thread, Ill be glad to help answer them. Any queries specific to your order or shipment that you may have, you can PM, call, SMS or mail me directly. Allrighty then, just in case youre wondering on estimated arrival, it should reach, all of them by latest 8th April 2011 although of course in my note to you it should arrive on the 12th-14th in Malaysia. To those who've ordered, If youre currently counting, thats just about 10 working days from the date youve made payment to me, nice huh

QUOTE(heather96 @ Apr 3 2011, 01:11 AM) dear havocx, just when you thought you were rid of me - i'm back for advice. having trouble with buying my ebooks all of a sudden and i was wondering if you could help. amazon has detected that i'm not in the states. i have tried changing my address and using hotspotshield. i dunno know why they are still saying that i'm outside the states. i just realised that i stupidly let the gift cert run out, so i guess they detected my m'sian credit card. maybe i should just try deregistering my account starting fresh? i guess i will have to back up my books. what do you think? any advice greatly appreciated!! thanks! Heh ? Ive always welcomed back question Firstly though, you gift cert ran out ? Thats not right since there shouldnt be any expiry dates on the gift cards. So lets see on your account now. The Malaysian credit card is never a problem since Amazon would not bad anyone from buying books, or items or anything really as long as there is payment. No merchant will in fact. So its the account thats flagged. So lets see if you have all the requirements.
1. Email address - Location of this Email address MUST be in the US. When this email was created it must show US. So if you have a yahoo.co.uk address, its still not showing US and well there in lies the problem. 2. Amazon Account Username - Must be tied to an email address that is not in the US. 3. Amazon Account Address - Must be showing a local US address.
Having all 3 requirements, Amazon would not give you problems. Right now, your situation may seem sticky but its not a big problem. Since you already have books in your account, I would think that the best thing would just be to reconnect your Amazon account to an email address that is US registered. That way your books would still be around in your account and you dont have to repurchase them again, unless of course all your books are free books then a fresh start is better.
Hope that helps!

Actually ffin, 'Location of this Email address MUST be in the US' refers to an email creation that must not be pointing to a country that is not US. Perhaps my Yahoo.Co.UK example was not so clear. To have a better picture, consider how a Yahoo.Co.UK email address is created.
You will first on registration of your email address be pointing to United Kingdom as a country and hence your email address was created as ffin@yahoo.co.uk . It then does not matter in the future even if you changed your country to Malaysia or US since your initial registration was UK.
The same goes for your email address, unlike yahoo, gmail addresses as well as other email address does not show the country its affiliated to although like Yahoo, it still registers your original country in the database and does not matter even if you now change your country to reflect US. When that happens, your Amazon account, even though is shown US, ties itself to a non US email account, and you'll run into roadblocks like youve mentioned.
Hope that helps
mr.anutta, Thanks for helping out, am myself out of the country and only returning to KL later this evening This post has been edited by havocx: Apr 5 2011, 02:03 PM

QUOTE(darius30 @ Apr 12 2011, 11:55 AM) Cheaper Kindle with Ads Still prefer the ad-free version, can't wait..... Heh, yeah it's USD25 cheaper making it about USD114 total. Small difference to folks but thatll make it about RM75 cheaper ie Rabout RM555. It's still on preorder though and from what I can see, it may look slightly different from the current Kindle batch. And hey thanks for your order too buddy

No worries buddy, already sent you the note on the information on Kindle DX.
Now thats a little like looking at the glass like its always broken, If you saw the post of the folks getting the Kindle (I dont wanna use customer, they would be if I made money out of them, I dont, Amazon does) correct, there was problems earlier, but now I post back the question to you You would not see them back right ? That would mean they would have at the start experienced the problem as they were not able to replicate the exact scenario to use the Kindle in Malaysia, once given the right instruction and they followed it through, all are them are really very happy campers.
