QUOTE(unpronounciable @ Jan 14 2011, 06:38 PM) i suddenly wondered can kindle have gps? can kindle 3g have gps? or kindle wifi can oso? or both kenot? and 2nd question does kindle have like apps? where we can install softwares and stuff? Sorry bout missing your query buddy, dont know why i missed it. So here's the answers to your query.
The short simple answer to all is unfortunately no.
Firstly you must know that as an Ebook Reader only a Kindle cannot be compared to an Ipad. Kindle's does it main function as an eBook reader very very and folks buying a Kindle would buy it simply because of its awesome ability to be able to access your reading material whenever they need to take up on their reading hobby easily. Kindle's are really light, both on the software and the hardware. Tou understand this difference an easy way to compare is to actually compare a normal Notepad to an Ipad app, Notes. The iPad is app is really cool, you can have multiple formats, multiple backgrounds and even multiple fonts when youre writing notes. Notepad is pretty boring, the writing depends on your own, you cant change the background unless you change papers and yes you have to use your fingers and a pen to actually take down notes, pretty boring stuff.
Lets say though you receive a phone call while using your Ipad and there's a notepad too nearby and you need to take down a message. Even though its pretty snazzy, very cool, the first thing you'll actually reach for would still be the Notepad simply because its so much easier andq quicker and it was the reason it was created for. Kindle excels in what it does really really, really well for the same reasons, such as it is you cant compare it Apple to well Apple Ipad It doesnt even come from the same family.
On Apps its pretty much limited to the use of the Apps on the e-ink screen which different from an LCD screen on its ability and its disadvantages. Its also limited to the hardware and firmware the Kindle uses vs other electronic devices. For instance, a Kindle on a single charge can have power up to 30 days, no eReader or tablet in the market can claim that. That said though the Kindle does not have apps for it simply because that no software has been written for it yet by Amazon, and even if there is, it would be limited to the hardware limitations of the Kindle. Remember the old Nokia's ? One without Apps ? Even with the Apps nowadays for Nokia, you cant simply be installing it in the old phones because of both Hardware and Software limitations right ?
When you choose a Kindle, its like choosing a dedicated GPS unit. You dont purchase a GPS unit for its ability to play MP3, to show pictures and to play videos. Its a plus but that's not the reason youre getting it. Youd be more concerned with the maps and the chipsets within because you want it to be a dedicated unit in your car for your use, its the same for the Kindle too
Hope that helps!

QUOTE(fluene @ Jan 16 2011, 07:31 PM) Is there any way I can see only free ebooks for kindle by Amazon? When I go to the kindle's store, the free and non free books are listed together. Share meaningful passages with friends and family with built-in Twitter and Facebook integration. What does this means actually? How do we do using the kindle? Havocx, I am back from Tokyo. It was 1 deg C there. Sooo cold. Yep when you get to the Kindle ebooks, sort by prices, lowest to highest, youll see the cheapest ie free ebooks there I actually havent tested the Kindle Twitter and Facebook intergration myself but the intergration does not mean you can check your tweets actually, its only for you to share your tweets. Kinda like when you dont have data plans but when say like me in Tokyo, instead of using Wifi, i send an sms to a Malaysian number, i cant check my replies from there.
For an example here's a little demo at the very last part of the site.
Tokyo is cold, doesnt beat Osaka yet though, Osaka is 0 celcius today, that and the fact that its a port city with superbly windy chills blowing in from the sea, that wind chill factor probably brought the temp down another 3 degrees making the wind here lower than freezing. No snow yet though.

QUOTE(estara @ Jan 17 2011, 05:41 PM) Here's sending a shout out to the awesomest guy in Japan! So helpful even when you're traveling. Really, if you're in sales, I've no doubt you'll always be the Top Salesperson of the Year. Haha no worries, like i mentioned, im earnest about helping, its not about the money, far from it, this bulk makes almost no profit at all. If there is, those would be a paltry RM5-RM10 difference to which most of the time is spent ensuring your items reach you if say Bulk gets stuck in Customs and all that. If the savings significant, like im sure most of you experienced, those difference would be returned to you. That depends on the grace and efficiency of Customs though, the more relaxed they are in their work, the more our savings would be haha
If im in sales huh ? Thats what everyone in the Office tells me too. Ah well, guess im stuck with this job. Heading out to Tokyo tomorow. Enjoyed my stay in Osaka. Still too cold though haha

QUOTE(jimmy_none @ Jan 23 2011, 12:14 PM) hi havocx is me again if you still remember me..just wondering could I use the power socket to charge instead USB...kinda slow...and I notice the power adapter stated input 100V - 240V output 4.9V seems it is able to take on Asia Vol. by the way..do anyone know how to disable the Kindle 3 index? I had been google around and they are talking their own language.. Sure of course I do. Yes, you would be able to just like laptops and items which takes lower or higher voltages if it does mention that it accepts 100V till 240V. On the Kindle 3 Index, am not sure im clear what youre referring to though, would you mind giving perhaps a screenshot for us please ?

QUOTE(fluene @ Jan 25 2011, 12:19 PM) What is indexing? How do we know the Kindle is done with the indexing? I wonder if we can use commercial mini USB cable on the Kindle? Fluene, In short you cant. Simply because the Kindle uses a Micro USB cable and not a Mini USB Cable. Having said that though, any Micro USB cable will do. Like me, Ive not even used the original cable since the very first time I used the Kindle.

QUOTE(wyefueng @ Jan 25 2011, 01:15 PM) hi is possible this batch arrive before 17th feb? If ordered and paid for by 27th Jan, yes it will reach here by 17th Feb.

QUOTE(cheefai7 @ Jan 26 2011, 11:08 PM) I am still interested, but not getting it right now as I have other different priority. In terms of kindle cover choices, what could a lighted cover make's a different. Meaning to say, I couldn't really read from a kindle when the light's is out, saying that there is no back light on the kindle display? Sure thing buddy. Right you are. The Kindle does not have it own backlight. It gets its brightness from the ambient light around it. The more light around it, the brighter the Kindle gets. Its for the very same reason you can read the Kindle right out there in the middle of a beach in bright sunlight and you cant with say an Ipad or Iphone. That strength however is not replicated in dim lights. As long as there is any source of light, the Kindle is readable and comfortable to use. In darkness, it cannot be used unlike an Ipad.

QUOTE(jimmy_none @ Jan 27 2011, 08:17 PM) may I know have anyone tried to charge using power socket instead through USB port? is there any time different? Ive charged mine since the very beginning from Power Socket. Unfortunately I dont know how long it charges since i just leave it overnight. Im thinking youre not getting too much of a response since generally Kindle's only need charging oh, say every 10 - 15 days if youre an avid reader so it might be that long till you get a response

QUOTE(bacon101 @ Feb 1 2011, 10:06 PM) Hey there! Could I have a quote on this? http://www.amazon.com/RVCA-Thermal-Puffer-...t/dp/B003ZVOO4OIf the price is reasonable, I'm keen to place an order. Cheers Quote's in your PM Box buddy
QUOTE(Zad @ Feb 2 2011, 12:00 PM) i trying to buy the gift card buy it request for payment n amount of money. Zad ? Im not understanding the problem though ? You are trying to BUY the gift card but it request for Payment and Amount of Money ? It IS supposed to do that. You are trying to BUY a gift card.
So, you just need to specify how much and what's the email address that you would want to send it to. A gift card can be a minimum of USD 1 to a Maximum of USD 5000. If youre buying a gift card for yourself just need to mention the email address to send it to. It will send a code of the value you purchased to that email address.
So for instance you ask me to help you buy USD 30 worth of Amazon Gift Card. Ill need your email address. You will then need to transfer money to me equivalent of USD 30 or make payment to Amazon USD 30 and you will receive the code to your email. From the code, logon to your Amazon account and add value to your account. Voila, you now will have USD 30 in any Amazon account that is using that code Amazon sent you earlier.

The Kindle is RM630. You would have to wait for about 12 - 14 working days to get the Kindle's. They are not ready stock. Its for the very same reason its a Bulk as Ill help to get them in at a lower cost. Please do go through the information in Post Number 1. It would have all the necessary information already within.

For the Bulk though, its mainly from Amazon and its pretty much only from Amazon US

QUOTE(Zad @ Feb 4 2011, 08:35 PM) i misunderstood something previously.. i got my kindle registered with amazon US account right now, but with no credit inside the account.. when i connect to kindle store via wifi, i found the storefront is empty (when i go inside any categories of books, magazines and newspaper, it shows no items found), izzit becoz of my credit? Heya Zad, no worries on the understanding. That shouldnt be right though, Amazon does not require that you have any credits in your account for it to work. Ie if you want free book, you dont need to have any amount or credit in your account. Are you sure your Kindle is registered to your US account though ? You need to link your Kindle in your Amazon account. Go through your Amazon account and click on Manage. Link your Kindle there, from there you should be good to go and see all your books.
QUOTE(k-bkeat @ Feb 5 2011, 11:48 PM) looking for second hand cheap kindle unit or u can trade with my casio edifice gold. too poor to afford one but IM UTTERLY INTERESTED! PM ME ANYONE! anyway TS had been very helpful in pm everyone support him ok?! Haha thanks buddy, hopefully youll find someone to trade with, Kindle is still pretty nifty and still very exciting though, you might find it hard to get someone who'll trade you with one but hopefully you get lucky
QUOTE(k-bkeat @ Feb 6 2011, 12:28 AM) kindle without 3G will it be useless? wat is 3G for anyway? like cellphone? data charge from telco like digi maxis celcom? Not really.
Kindle 3G It works just fine in Malaysia, just like how 3G works for the iPad. Its not locked to any provider. Works globally. Worth getting, i personally dont think so. 3G allows you to sync books while say youre in the middle of Langkawi away from your personal desktop or on the beach and to surf the internet. This would be the only reason and time the 3G will be in use. For you to do some light browsing whilst by the sea. Also, it allows for wireless sync for your books. But why do it ?
You'll have to remember though that this sync will be for your books, at which before you left for Langkawi you would have already downloaded a few im sure. I dont think youll be able to finish 120 books by the beach on a weeks vacation to Langkawi
Kindle holds 13,000 books and even if synching gets you 1000 books also you would not be reading all 1000 im sure. Next on Net Surfing, well, you remember its going to be in Black and White yes ? Although The browsers pretty decent and gets you through to the websites fast, 3G is good for quick net surfing by the beach, but if the beach gets Wifi Connection then why connect to 3G ?
Hope that helps

QUOTE(morgance @ Feb 7 2011, 01:10 PM) I just got my Kindle from havocx this morning. I have yet to even unbox it yet but I thought I should get this out here first. This was my first time dealing with havocx but it will assuredly not be the last. I do shop online with some regularity both with e-tailers and also LowYatNet sellers but I have to say, this was the first time I felt completely confident and reassured that my order was in good hands. I sometimes get a fit of nerves after I've made payment on web purchases with unknown individuals. It doesn't help that it feels like I've sent my money into a blackhole because of the lack of correspondence and/or updates as to the status of my order. I basically just have to sit pretty and wait for my purchase to show up pretty much at random. havocx, on the other hand, is in a league of his own. Your peace of mind is clearly his priority. He takes care to give regular and informative updates about the progress of the order. He goes out of his way to assuage your concerns and answer any questions you may have. He makes it a point to make himself available pretty much 24/7 and provides you with comprehensive contact information, to boot. He's unfailingly prompt, friendly, polite and accommodating in his communications. This is all even more amazing when you take into account that this is a non-profit bulk so he's basically doing this as a labour of love to keep the Kindle flame alive! Hats off to you, havocx! Thanks for all the hard work! You rock! Thanks for the compliments ma'am, I do my best.
QUOTE(k-bkeat @ Feb 7 2011, 02:10 PM) i can verify tat for potential buyer too he replied me asap even though he is driving LOL he even willing to show up nearby my area just to show me his kindle before i make any purchase Whoa! Hang on. A few things I must clarify. I was not driving, I would NEVER sms or take a call while im driving. Im very much against anyone who does. I was BEING driven Hence I could reply.
Secondly Im not a seller though k-bkeat is a potential seller. Am only showing the Kindle of as I would be available in the area to meet k-bkeat, I like to share and showing off what the Kindle can do is one of my passion

QUOTE(k-bkeat @ Feb 13 2011, 05:08 PM) do u have to create new account to order? suspicious WHOA buddy! Who's running the bulk here, me or you ? If you look through the history of the Bulk, there are many others who have just created an account in the Lowyat forum just to place an order, there is nothing wrong with it. What would be suspicious is if its a new account but offering to sell something expensive at a really cheap price and not willing to COD. That's when alarm bells should be ringing. Otherwise its perfectly fine.
Thanks for looking out for my bulk buddy, but im sure ill be fine.

QUOTE(xDarkKnightx @ Feb 13 2011, 12:12 PM) Sorry buddy, missed out on your query. Here goes, for your item, ive quoted in your inbox. Interesting, Amazon Stores actually selling the Nook, a competing ebook reader but LCD based screen on its site. So yep to your question. Is it safe, not sure if you meant me or the seller. If its me, i think you can perhaps look through my records and any comments made on my thread and make your own judgement
If its the seller on Amazon stores, you need to make that decision. I usually would look at their ratings and number of comments. A person with 25 100% rating and someone with 12000 91% rating, ill usually go and choose the 12000 rating since he is consistently delivering well as opposed to a 25 rated newbie
Your choice, you just need to let me know whom you choose and we proceed from there
