@mhspeng

I just asked a Maxis employee at Pavilion in regarding whether the owner of the line needs to be present or can we act on their behalf with authorization letter and she said that:

1. you can't use the authorization letter and copy IC of owner without the owner being there.
2. I called up CS beforehand and 'Selvan' told me that you can get the authorization letter and copy IC certified at a Maxis centre before going to the launch. This was debunked by the Maxis employee at Pavilion. The chances of the people at the launch not recognizing it is high.
3. Maxis Pavilion employee said you either do ownership transfer BEFORE the launch or bring the owner along.

Too many people in Maxis telling different stories rclxub.gif

Thanks.. btw.. earlier on someone asked whether when we RSVP we choose one plan, and can we change to another plan when we get our iphone; does anyone has an answer to this?

i.e. currently i chose idata2 in my rsvp ; instead can i take ivalue1 on the day?
*
I most likely just do the ownership transfer to avoid trouble at the launch. No offense but due to craziness of the situation (there are gonna be at least 700 ppl there!) and depending on the staff (part timers and full timers' info varies in my opinion), I don't think hearing the words "we can't accept this blah blah" will help when i plan on queuing! smile.gif

I think you most probably can change. They just want you to pick in the RVSP I suppose. As long as you have a confirmation letter and owns the number or register a new number, they are most likely happy to oblige. That's my POV.

True true. I guess my idea is to explore all options (and share it with everyone) so i don't go 'd'oh!!!' on that day. Make life easier if they just let us buy it out right lol for me at least!

actually i also looking for the same issue as you. I will go to maxis centre to change the ownership to my name on thursday afternoon.
The reservation is under my aunty name, but i will bring along a authorize letter & IC for the booking.
I think should be no problem?  blush.gif
*
Once you change ownership from your aunt's name to yours, I assume you don't need her authorization as the mobile number will be under your name. To make sure they don't go blah blah, you should bring a photocopy of the receipt to prove you are the owner of the mobile number, confirmation ID, your IC and $$$. I guess they will give you some sort of document when you do ownership transfer. To be on the safe side, make sure you photocopy that document in case they want to take it and you won't have a copy for yourself. Another note is that one of the CS told me it takes 1 day for their system to register so better bring hard copy so no arguments! smile.gif
Maybe I should photocopy my IC to speed up the sign up process!

@mhspeng
I also got the same reply about the free 333 calls and free 200 sms - basically 2 CS said that as long as there's free something, its only maxis to maxis. I don't know why the website and the CS tell diff stories but just stating what I am told.

Hey.. i asked the another CS just now. Yes this CS said "cannot" for authorization letter, and "cannot" for transfer ownership also.. bcoz.. our rsvp email stated someone elses name.  i.e i change my ownership tomorrow.. yes but my rsvp cannot change ownership mah..
*
Yikes! Guess @zhengyang89 you can take a risk and go or wait till 27th Sept when it is open to the public. You can try and register rsvp under your name and IC cos I did managed to get a confirmation under my name even tho i didn't register my interest initially or have an account with maxis.

I went to maxis klcc today to do a number ownership transfer. Pretty straight forward. Thing is i asked the maxis ppl walking around and the lady who served me ; in a nutshell they said:

If the number you want to link with the contract isn't under your name, good luck!
In other words, you will have trouble signing the contract even if you have an authorization letter and ic and whatever documents unless the owner is present at the launch counter with you. It is also down to luck - they said you can try but there is no guarantee.

what are the procedures if i were to do a ownership transfer? i.e. im supplementary no. holder now wanna transfer to primary, does the primary holder has to be there to transfer oso?
*
you need to have primary holder there. Then again it depends on the counter in the end. Some CS i called said you need owner and new owner there while some said authorization letter needed. I went with the owner - not interested to risk one day cos it takes one working day to process.

how about supplementary lines ? can they sign up for contract as well. together with the main line
*
i think the main thing is that if the account isn't under your name - you better bring the owner along. You can try with authorization letter but you gotta understand it is a 50-50 chance it will go thru or they reject.
i hope this authorization prob won't hold the queue! blink.gif

im pretty sure it will lol, with their staff so under-trained. i've already called 2 CS + went sunway maxis they all said an authorization letter will do. yet some went klcc maxis and ttdi maxis and they said something different.

let's just hope the authorization letter works, or else alot of people will argue "how come i call ur cs they say can now u say cannot bla bla bla bla bla!"

anyway i'll email them tonight to get a black and white confirmation at least.
*
Precisely! I wanted to do the autho thingy but I seriously don't want to go thru the fury of queuing up and getting rejected because of he says, she says. One CS even said get the autho and copy ic certified by Maxis but everyone said no no. Too many stories so just I just did a transfer ownership to save my trouble!
I bet there will a lot of people arguing about this. I was told by the Maxis KLCC staff that the staff at the launch are from their various outlets.

well said! I am not worried about getting the iphone or ppl get it or what. I just don't want to wait for hours and have the queue held up cos ppl can't deal with the word no and start causing arguments. Its just being considerate? No offence to anyone but thats my pov so that's why i did an ownership transfer to avoid all the trouble. smile.gif

@Coolbreeze
I did call up a few CS and went to Pavilion Maxis to ask about ownership transfer.
Some say can bring autho letter and ic copy while some said BOTH owner and new owner must be there.
Save trouble, i took the owner to Maxis KLCC.
There is an info section to collect queue number but the info staff will take both your ic to copy and give you a registration form to filled by new owner. After that wait for your number to be called. Pass the forms to the person at the counter and tell him/her that you want to transfer from who to who and pressto! No need to change SIM card or whatever. Just do the paperwork at Maxis and they will charge RM50 transfer fee. And choose a plan or don't, if you want iValue.
Sorry for the long-winded post!

i think Maxis allow you to charge on your next bill or just pay on the spot. I chose pay on the next bill.

All the best tomorrow!

On another note, I went to Maxis KLCC today and I asked a lady working there (wearing the iPhone polo shirt) - she said that iPhone 4 can be purchase outright from 27th Sept onwards from Maxis KLCC. She isn't sure about other Maxis cos the management is different (i don't understand why would it be different!). She added that this is why some branches accept authorization letter only and some don't (need owner there).

In short this is what goes on:-

1. Queue outside (near the escalator above GSC Cinema / RedBox Gardens) - there is a person next to a number ticketing machine.
They will check whether you have the confirmation ID & cross ref with your IC. I assume if your name doesn't fit - you might not get in. (I am not confirmed - just assuming!)

2. After checking, you need to fill in a "iPhone 4 Collection Checklist". Someone does it for you. They ask what is your mobile no, name, ic, what plan, 16 or 32GB phone, do you have ic (if not you can use Credit card, driver's license).

3. When you are called in, you go into a small area between the outside and ballroom. I assume only 60 ppl are called in each time.

4. Guess you have to wait to be called into the main ballroom. I can't tell you cos I was the first batch and hardly any waiting. There are 60 counters and they are very friendly and helpful. I think you want to speed up the process - photocopy your ic and make sure you have your confirmation ID and checklist and number in hand or at least ready.

I asked the guy serving me - authorization letter is not accepted unless owner is present because the owner needs to sign contract! This is what the guy who served me said. Please be warned - I am telling what i know. happy.gif

I assume average half an hr per customer if no hiccups. He/She needs to enter details, go thru the plan once again, swipe CC and check your phone - then out you go!

Owner is signing contract?...But it is the supplementary line that want to use the plan wo. Aren't the supplementary line should sign the contract instead and to be separated from the current principal line?
*
The bottomline is whose name is the mobile line under. That name person has to be present. I am just sharing what i was told from the counter guy, the number giving person and the checklist paper giving person.

Please note certain type of Maxis users get preference (i think)

Maxis Elite - number starts from 1000
Maxis Select - 2000
Maxis normal or mass - 3000
Rest i don't know - there was like 2 other buttons.

You can definitely buy at least 1 iPhone if you go under contract or you can just buy outright as well. How many I didn't ask but i overhead 2 max. smile.gif

@stringfellow thanks happy.gif just want to be as helpful as i can!

i don't think you can get into the middle section unless you are buying it. You can loiter outside. That middle section isn't big and crowd control i assume.

Please note: I can't vouch 100% on my facts - I am relying all my info on the various people I spoke to at the Launch and the people at the counter.

@yujin86
@Freshie
I only ask if you can buy outright - they said you can.
KLCC maxis staff also told me that you can buy outright from them on the public day (from 26th Sept I think right?)

@Joey87

I think it depends on your account - you might need to prove you are an elite or select member. I am normal so can't say much hehe but i know there are buttons for those users.

@jackyflc
I was told you need the person who's name appears on the principal line / supplementary line to be there. Principal line and supp line are the same name.

means u sign one ivalue plan, buy first iphone 4 with plan

2nd iphone can buy outright? so in total u have 2 iphone 4?

just that 2nd phone is paying RRP, no contract needed, is it like that?
*
From what I learnt:

1. Get into a contract - doesn't matter what plan - you get iphone from that contract.
You can then ADD JUST the iPhone 4 (doesn't matter what size). In total - one iPhone with contract and one without (please keep in mind - no sim lock)

2. You can buy OUTRIGHT iphone. How many I am not sure.
Someone please ask the maxis ppl whoever is there right now to confirm too.

@vez from what i know, the paying at the launch works like this -

For eg. I took the iValue 1

Must pay (as in right at the counter) - 200 (refundable after 5months) + 1990 (iPhone price for 12months contract)= 2190
If you ADD the phone, you just pay for the RRP of the Phone of your choice
Eg. 2190 + 2290 = 4480 at the counter - cash or credit card.

No need to pay for Micro sim and you can get it there and then.

Maxis will give you the MICRO SIM when you purchase the iPhone - FOC. Not sure how long this FOC will go on for.

@vez - I know for sure you can buy EXTRA 1 iPhone. You gotta try your luck happy.gif

Guys, read the FIRST PAGE! http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1572893

It is confirm that you can buy outright. HOW MANY is subject to the person serving you so ask and quickly decide when you are AT THE paying counter.

It is important to have confirmation ID and IC cos this event is for pre-book. Or subject to luck but you still have to queue up to get a number.

I think everyone must remember to take CS answers with a 'pinch of salt'. You should go there and talk to the people working at the Launch or at branches where they sell it in person.
At the end of the day, the people at the launch is the one handling the event.
