The SGT2 specs are written off as fake by many websites. Whoever put these up is looking for a quick stunt to pump some adrenalin into us. Even if it is true, do not expect prising to be even close to present SGT prices which are already deem high

Saw this adapter - with it you can plug in your normal USB thumb drive and transfer files between the TAB and the thumb drive. Cost about £30
Mobidapter - the unique USB Memory adapter for mobiles/smartphones.
This unique new device allows you to transfer files between your mobile/cellphone and a USB stick wherever you are without using a PC. Files can be transferred in either direction and files can also be viewed on the mobile whilst stored on the USB stick. The mobidapter takes your mobile one step closer to being a fully functioning computer.

Some updates on the rom scene if you wish to push your TAB beyond the limits Samsung wants you to:

New kernel from Modaco's Paul O Brien - impressive ; you have 2 choices - kernel based on default RFS file system or ext 4. Those who have used the Galaxy S before will know that the lag fixes for the Galaxy S were solely due to changing the file system to EXT 4. Still dunno and do not inderstand why Samsung still so stubborn and adopt such a old technology of RFS for the TAB. Using the ext 4 file system will immediately boost its performance

http://android.modaco.com/content/samsung-...ung-galaxy-tab/

You also can improve the TAB 's performance by installing a one click LAG FIX - just run the APK: Operates similarly to the Galaxy S

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823501

Paul has today followup his new kernel with a new rom based on his kernel - however you need to change to ext 4 file system to use it

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=927429

And lastly, Chainfire and Rotohammer has yesterday released a patch to assure that it is now OK to flash roms JM6/9/A/C/D/E/F with protected bootloaders. So now you have more variety of rom choices to flash

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071

BTW I am one who does not believe in the saying " Why fix it if it ain't broken ". It is this bad habit of mine that I am constantly changing gadgets and/or tweaking it to maximise performance

Very well explanation and recommendation rclxms.gif
Really appreciate your effort and willing spend time explain this useful information which we may not know or hear about this before.
I hear alot abt "protected bootloaders" but still blur and not really understand abt this. Due to this, i still fear to change to any custom ROM.
How we know our tab contain "protected bootloaders"? Is it safe to apply Chainfire and Rotohammer way as above described?
What are your previous experience flash to custom ROM?  smile.gif

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071 : Read post#2 in this ste, self explanatory about protected bootloaders

But now with the patch release , it is actually safe to flash . However as usual you are warned that there is still a chance you might brick. I don't blame the developers as it is just a statement to protect themselves from nay complains. After all it is at your own risk

But it is highly recommended that if possible find a rom where the bootloaders are not signed ; these rom cooks remove it. A very good example is Rotohammer v4 which is very well recommended by many. I am using his rom. Source :

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894763

One advantage of using Rotohammer rom, you can easily put in a Clockwork Recovery based on Chainfire CF Root, which is 100% compatible :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=885734

This Clockwork recovery is very important as it allows you to create a NANDROID of full system/data/apps backup of your TAB> If you were to flash any kernel or rom and things go wrong and you are stuck, you can easily restore back your TAB to your last status ( with all your apps/data/themes etc intact )

Mr. Benny, i just read ur blog bout root..is there any effect on the device? i felt left out without knowing bout this thing..
*
There is no effect. Rooting will NEVER and can NEVER spoil/brick your phone. Flashing roms maybe. Just make sure your TAB is at least 70% charge. I have pointed out the few points of rooting benefit in the earlier section.

Buy online from M3Shoppe Msian site :
http://www.m3shoppe.com/index.php?page=sho...emart&Itemid=26

I paid RM99 for it when launch last year at PC Fair but now price is RM146

OR you try to google and find your free version - I am sure if you try hard enough can find it though I do not encourage such practice

The official Samsung Galaxy TAB thread is now up at :

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1731804

It is still a work-in -progress and will be regularly updated. I'd say I have achieved about 50% of what I wanted to post in the past 4 hours since starting the thread.

1. Please post your questions/comments over there so we can build up a library of knowledge. Ask your questions, give your proposals and relevant QnA will be posted in post # 2 and #3. I will be digging back down this thread and post any relevant topics up at the official thread

I am creating a userlist in post #4 : Check your version at Settings/About

Please provide me by posting over there or PM me your : Username/Country/Baseband/Build Number and any rom upgrades you have done
Example : benny888/Europe/XXJK5/XWJJ7 upgraded to XXJMA/XAJME

if i use the second method, is it okay if my battery at 60?
*
Should be OK . As the process just take few minutes. The battery charge is important just in case of emeergencies the TAB run into continuos looping or resets which happens at times , eating up your battery ). I always practiced to have a near full charge , just to be safe

I thought I saw today's Star Celcom advertisement, Tab going for RM 1288/-. So cheap could be my mistake reading it.
*
Is correct, one of their 24 months plan but with the highest data plan , monthly commitment RM 250-

Hi benny,

Just to ask your opinion, if I were to purchase the Papago X5 Software, will it work after upgrading to androind 2.3?

Secondly, I have installed X3 version on my Nexus One previoulsy, but the graphic is not so cool and there is no 3D Landmarks, does yours looks the same? Mind sharing some screenshots?

Aapart from M3Shoppe, any other online store selling it at a lower price?
*
Yes it will work on Gingerbread
X5 has 3D landmarks
In Msia online sites this is the cheapest and is OFFICIAL distributor - is only RM 99 now versus RM 149 previously

Just go to m3shoppe site - example this one to see the images: select the IMAGES tab
